Good morning!!!!

Rain started as I came in for breakfast and forecast is to continue for the rest of the day. Not too cold, should be a good day for messing around inside the barn and listening to the rain on the roof.

Yesterday I was pruning some ash and sweet chestnut trees that were planted 7-8 years ago when my wife rang to say someone had been using our driveway as a dump again. Scattered across the grass were -

20 plucked and oven ready duck and pheasant - all still frozen. :confused3:

David, the flail looks the business, just be careful with that hydraulic offset - don't be tempted to drive too close to the cliff edge ! :)

Got in too big a hurry 41 outside now high of 60 later today, taking service truck to shop for repairs then more tree pruning

If I was looking for a shotgun for home protection Mossberg Defender mariner would be my choice

Never had a pump fame but there's always a first time. My 28 GA model 11-48 has once buts it's not a pump but sweet little shot gun anyway. Nice bird gun with minimal kick

I shall remind my wife that it must now be 15 years or more since she bought me a 28 GA - not the shot gun, just the cleaning kit ! Maybe one day ...

Good morning! 65˚F, 18˚C - the warmest morning this month. It's been hitting 80˚ every day this week.

33 right now and a little light snow. 44 is the predicted high.
Boy, I put off clearing the drive and walks because I was worried about refreeze. That was a big mistake on my part! After driving ansd walking, I have a big frozen mess that the tractor won't budge...it's like concrete. And, the ice around the fuel cap has to be chipped out.
It is supposed to be in the mid-40's, so maybe the ice will loosen up a bit. As far as the fuel cap, I'll use my wife's hair blower to thaw the ice a bit.
Which brings me to a question...I knew the fuel cap cover was removed. I thought that was required with a Curtis Cab. Now, I wonder if that was acutally required?

Anyway, looks like my day's chore are trying to clear the frozen ice.

45 going to 65...great sunrise this morning...right mix of different cloud types, and of course some sun mixed in.

Kev of the North - nice job on that grapple support...hope all goes well with the weld.

David - didn't know the flail could be hydraulic offset - very nice...I have manual offset on my tiller, but so difficult to adjust, I just leave it in one place - which is really all I've needed.

Bups - like the idea of pruning today - I think I'll join you.

RNG - like your paint process, but would the white paper towels leave some dust residue?

Need to pour first cup of coffee. 55° with mostly clear skies. Heading to 84° with mostly sunny skies. Got rear of motorhome wax. But my HF orbital buffer died. Took it apart. Found nothing wrong. Put it back together. Still nothing. Ran over to HF and bought a new one. Finished waxing. While putting things away I tried old one again. It worked. Must be a thermal breaker in motor. Oh well, donated old one to a neighbor. Have not decided what to do today. Maybe some more waxing. Then some NASCAR in the evening. Yesterdays truck race was nothing but a pile of wrecked trucks.
Txdon, I put Power Service in every refill of my tractor and lawnmower. They are not high pressure fuel rail engines. My motorhome gets a additive recommended by GM if it has been setting for awhile or may need starting in very cold weather.
Good Morning All.

Thanks Bup ... the old 031 AV will be missed ... she was a good saw ... :(

Had an 032AV. Don't miss it at all. SOB to start, heavy, couldn't get as much as an air filter at the Stihl dealer. Not ecstatic with the MS271 that replaced it (hard starting because it doesn't have a priming bulb), but it doesn't wear me out and cuts even better. The one I almost always reach for is a 192 T C-E, a small one handle limbing saw that'll take care of 18" of oak like butter. Perfect for limbing, even on the ground, and makes very short work of bucking as well.

I think I'm going to set the feet on lumber vs concrete, like when you put a battery on concrete you're supposed to put wood under it. Now different physics of course but would steel rust less on wood? Maybe an old wive's tale.

I don't know any old wives that use wood under a fuel tank, Drew. Seems to me that the wood would hold moisture against the steel and accelerate rusting, and speed up rotting of the wood, too. Not sure even using pressure treated wood would help.

But maybe you should look up a few old wives in your neighborhood and ask them to be sure...

I'm headed to TSC tomorrow to see what colors they have.

A few years ago I used some Valspar aerosol paint from TSC that was a pretty good match for the Kubota tractor. Well by the next year it had turned a chalky red color that looked HORRIBLE. Had to sand it all off and redo, this time with automotive paint the local supplier mixed to match a part I brought in to him. Not cheap, but I doubt I'll ever have to sand the stuff off, at least not in my lifetime.

Used Rust-Oleum on my front gate four years ago, and it's gone all chalky, too. Used the same stuff on a bead blaster dust separator cabinet that sits under a porch cover, and it's peeling off. The Rust-Oleum is holding up OK on a lathe and mill that sit in the garage, but IMNSHO, you're wasting your time using anything but catalyzed acrylic enamel automotive paint on anything that's going to sit outside (unconditioned space).

Getting some mowing done. Like the new mower but will take some adjusting on my part. Mower has a bit differently, balance has changed a bit. Think I'm going to like the hydraulic side shift. I did thank my wife . It was by her insistence that I upgraded.View attachment 457606 View attachment 457607

That's one sweet flail, David. Now you've got me thinking about one. Mind sharing make/model info?

Good morning all! 64 degrees at 7 am, forecast is 79 degrees.

Painted my 300 gallon diesel tank with gray enamel back in mid 90's and it's still good. Just repainted the stand last fall.

RNG - like your paint process, but would the white paper towels leave some dust residue?

Never in the ten or so years I've been using it. Bounty from Costco is my preferred brand.

Oh, and no touching the cleaned surfaces after washing/drying, either. I use new Nitrile gloves when handling parts and while painting.

Buppies, I love that Mossberg Defender Mariner the look of it is great but you got to pay for the look. :irked:

Hi guys,,,47 going to 55 with sun and the wind has fallen way off. Was getting ready to walk out the door when I seen the yard was full of turkeys. So I called Sandra out of bed to look. Counted 31 of them in the pack.

Well best get over to Jim's and get this support thing welded up then I can come back and make brunch if wifey is out of bed by then..
Have a good day.

I need to prune. What do you all use to prune with?

Tried two or three different loping shears from the home stores and took 'em all back because they would flex so much when doing anything thicker than an inch. The Stihl dealer had some lovely wood handled shears with wicked looking big jaws and it cuts great. If I can remember later I'll take a look and get back to you with the brand.

Good morning all. 60F this morning, cloudy again with a calm wind. Forecast is for cloudy all day high of 79F and light breeze, instead the breezy conditions the last two days. Got both cars washed so it would rain, and it's not working :thumbdown: . Rain is has been delayed till Tuesday, may half to crank up the irrigation system  .
Window washing on the TMA list.

Turns out my Boxer Metal buddy was taking his sweet time getting home from the One Show in Portland. It was worth the trip, as his bike I think took the overall award at the show. Yesterday he was in McMinville at the same museum that houses the Spruce Goose, and managed to get some photos of the bike next to another historic aircraft some of you may have heard about ;).

Will get a start on taxes this morning, then get going on a trailer hitch receiver mount for the scraper box. I want to mount an old Warn winch to a receiver hitch so I can use it on the truck, tractor, or RTV. But I've got pieces of rail road track piled up on the scraper box for ballast, so I'll need to fab up a bracket that rides above the top link attachment point on top of the box. Always good to get out into the shop and work some metal, and the weather looks like it'll cooperate nicely today.

Good morning, wifey is brewing coffee as I type.

Rs, I lost one of my large angelfish this past week. My fault. It had pink or red gill fungus or bacteria. Tank needs maintenance desperately. Will also add some just purchased tank meds.

Wednesday, I was driving back to work from lunch and witnessed a horrible rollover wreck involving a 19 year old girl in a 5 year old Dodge ram 1/2 ton truck. After fishtailing on the asphalt, she went into the grass median and lost all control. The truck ended up back on it's wheels in the opposing traffic's lane. She had been ejected onto the pavement. I expected a dead person. At first, my brain was saying don't stop, there's gonna be plenty of people to help or witness, but I stopped and ran across the median to the other side of the road. I was about the 4th or 5th person to get there. She was screaming in pain, (a good sign), and she could move her legs and arms but was crying in pain. I ran over to the truck to see if any kids might be in it and then ran back to help shade her as others were helping hold her still. It took minutes for the ambulance to get there. Then I just started praying for her. This was the 2nd horrific rollover I've witnessed in the same stretch of this road. They need to lower the speed limit in this section, and put some guard rails in. They just did a major feeder road/artery upgrade in which I feel they did a poor job in the design. There is not enough cushion length to more easily facilitate ingress of traffic. So we have Nascar type accidents when too many cars try to squeeze into just 2 lanes. The newspaper stated that she swerved to avoid debris in the roadway. There were some wooden pallets in the median, not sure if they were in the truck bed or they were the debris. The paper initially said she had been discharge, but finding her on facebook, I messaged her and she said she had been life flighted to Houston and was still in the Hospital. I told her our family will keep praying for her.

TxDon, I've been seeing a lot of deer just across Hwy 77 from your relatives place in their hayfield. But last night at dusk, there was a large pack of feral hogs. At least 20 or so. They need to do the tannerite thing where you attact them to some feed and then blow it up in the midst of them. Not pretty, but fast and effective. I guess he could always try to trap them.

That is a sweet build your buddy did. Does he hope to dragrace it?
