Heavy sanding for the driveway etc. last evening...whew,now one can take 3 steps forward w/out sliding back 2 steps.

that must be one really really big belt sander.............:D

off to hook up the trailer and head for the little town of Aurora NC, which other than where my oil tank is has zero claim to fame other than the Potash Corp dominates the town and likely most of us have had some products from that plant at one time or another.

Drinking first cup of coffee. 61° with mostly clear skies this morning. Heading to 80° with plenty of sunshine. RV repair today. My sliding desk/table table needs new ball bearing slides. Off to Lowes for new slides. Then replace them.
Eric, I have a older combi Stihl. To help with using the heavier attachments I got a full harness. Makes a lot of difference in how long I can use it.
Good Morning All.

Good Morning. 0725, sunny, 44F with 82% humidity. Forecast high of 67F with no chance of rain today, and a low of 44F tonight. We had a patchy frost on the ground, heavy on the roofs. I am now officially on last frost watch.

Margie's car might get out of the bodyshop today. If so, that will mean an extra trip to Blountstown. Unless one of her friends come through with a ride. I don't mind picking her up, but the timing might get tricky with me working this afternoon.

You guys have a good one,

Larro

Good morning! Foggy and 51˚F, 11˚C, heading to 76˚F, 25˚C and sunny. Looking at the extended forecast through March 3 there are no more days below 40˚F. This has been one warm February.
This month is the 10 anniversary of us leaving the City. I really thought they would have paved our road by now. I drove around the neighborhood (7 mile loop) and there are 4 residences starting but we have lost 3 residents. We are growing slowly out here.

Good Morning! 46F @ 5:30AM. Rain showers early will evolve into a more steady rain for the afternoon. Thunder is possible early. High 54F. Winds SSE at 15 to 25 mph. Chance of rain 80%.

About a half inch of rain fell yesterday evening in just a short time. It all came down sideways in heavy winds, drumming on the south side windows and sliding doors. It was done by 10 PM and there's been only sprinkles since, but the wind is still gusting. Another band of showers is supposed to bring a quarter inch this afternoon, then another quarter inch tomorrow.

Eric, I've been happy with a Stihl FS250 fitted with a Stihl HL KM Articulating Hedge Trimmer attachment. It's a big 'un, and I use a full harness to support it, but I can use the setup for several hours without getting too tired. Some of the new Stihl engines are coming through without a priming bulb, and I wouldn't buy another Stihl without one. Too much time jerking a cord to prime it after the tank runs dry.

Here's one for you. -31C at the cottage this morning, and -40C (also -40F) with the windchill. But, by Saturday, it will go up to +3C (about +37F), a swing of over 77 degrees Fahrenheit in two days! My tractor is very confused.

29 this morning and headed to 53 today. There is an orange object in the sky. Thinking the Air Force needs to investigate what it is. Weatherman was even excited this morning he made a comment about it being the first sunrise in 10 days.

Off to take care of chickens then Hopefully finish taxes today. Wife has doctors visit this afternoon so that will get into my tax time.

Drew pictures of the fuel tank when you get back.

Big east coast storm coming for next week

Texas one or two cold shots between now and March 15th

   / Good morning!!!! #42,749
Eric, I too have been happy with my Stihl FS55R with metal blade and string.

Will be looking for those two cold shots Buppies before the real heat sets in.

33 heading to 44 as we have a warming trend going on. Lots of sun makes it nice but they say the south winds will pick up later and get up to better than 40mph at times.
I hurt so bad I staid in bed till 7:30. Both shoulders and the right elbow. Can't find a good position to sleep. Old age sucks.
Eric, You can't go wrong with Stihl. Ours is 13 years old and has done a ton of brush cutting when we cleared the woods for the placement of the house. The saw blade on the bottom would go right through 1" twigs and weeds. I want to say it is a FS85 model. It has the straight shaft. Great tool. Have never done anything to it but use it.
Maybe take some Advil and try to get something going.

65°F and 1.18 inches rain last 24 hours.

Mowing got rained out yesterday, hope for today.
Did visit Dr and got Hep A & B, tetnus shots for upcoming trips.
Less than 24 hours after dentist visit I have a broken molar that will need to be crowned :(

Be safe
Have a great day.

Drew pictures of the fuel tank when you get back.

ask and ye shall receive...

easy transaction, they goobered up the thing with plumbing putty but I'll clean it up. It's primered, not sure of what color to paint it. It's not in the sun at all so I doubt the choice of color makes any difference. Probably either silver or black.
Nice that it has a lifting eye. Tomorrow my helper comes and I'll put the forks on the tractor and just set it in that way. GPI 150S 12V pump 15gpm US
Turner Tanks Small Aboveground Storage Since 1939
The shape of the tank isn't what I expected, which was taller and thinner but makes zero difference to me. 250 gallons coming Monday at $1.33 gal.

I like your tank and your diesel price...that nozzle is top notch, just like a gas station!

thanks. I called Turner Tanks and asked them about what paint to use on it. They said commercial enamel; e.g. Rustoleum was fine.
Then I asked about color and I chuckled at the response. What was the most common color painted? Has nothing to do with form or function, has to do with ease...
as in how to cover red primer with one coat. Most popular paint color? Red. Never would have thought it. But she said white was the worst because it wouldn't cover the red in one coat. Clearly folks do not lavish coats of paint on their tanks...I asked if black should be avoided due to heat soak and she had no opinion, black was fine.
Ok, I clearly didn't learn much technical info with that call...

Nice folks. I haven't inspected them all but first glance shows the welds on that tank to be really nice. But paint is needed promptly; as expected not exactly stainless steel fittings supplied and that little piece of pipe they put in there was rusting as I watched it. Headed down to do a little priming.

Hey Drew, your gonna love this, and I would think Don should chime in, but down here you have to paint for function. Diesel should be yellow, Gas red, kerosene is silver (now I always thought diesel and kerosene where about the same thing, but what do I know?). I am told it is so the fire dept (ours is volunteer) knows what is in it. Fuel depot wont fill it unless it is the right color. But I do have to say I am jealous of your new tank. It has to be easier than the 14 gal cans I use.

   / Good morning!!!! #42,760
No matter what color I paint it I will get a sign/signage of some sort that says diesel and have that prominently displayed.
I understand yellow for portable diesel cans, I have many, but never knew it applied to stationary tanks. I called DEP in Raleigh long before I ordered
this thing and was told no rules apply if under 500 gallons.

For a fireman, you bet, big difference approaching a tank of overheated gasoline vs a tank of overheated/heat impinged diesel.
So ability to identify from a distance makes sense. But electric yellow? not behind my barn...
I was beginning to warm up to barn red...but somehow red reminds me of gasoline, there you go Kev.
I have a fresh quart of Rustoleum gloss black I was going to use, but
now I guess I've over thought it and am left wondering...

Seems to me it ought to be white with a big yellow diesel insignia on it.
Lot of work...starting to understand the red paint idea....
If you are going to brush on thick tacky paint and wear your wrists off,
not like you want to do that twice.
But if one does do it twice, also not likely to ever need painting again.
Time to give it a bath in isopropyl and go to TSC for a gallon of something.
At least if you brush it on you don't get runs. I hate runs.
Two inches too close, two seconds too long, no difference, you've made a horrible mess of it
and now how to fix it. I usually have a small paint brush handy but it's never the same.

I really should make one of the overhangs of the barn into a basic painting booth for nice weather.
I have the compressor, but not the skills to use it. Perhaps it's time to try. But then I looked at eight different spray gun
choices at Harbor Freight and simply had no idea what I was looking for.
How many mm, how big the paint cup, it all looked heavy and hard to hold.
So I left emptyhanded, still not knowing if HLVP was slightly to the right of VIP...
So until I figure it out, I'll keep rattling I suppose.
