Coffee is done brewing. 58° with mostly clear skies this morning. Heading to 87° with sunny skies. Stair project from yesterday continues. HD would not cut treated plywood so it would fit in mini van. Had to go to HD store on other side of town that would cut it.
Good Morning All.

Temps rising rapidly, 30 to 44 in an hr. Raining and windy.

radar shows a nasty line of storms about ready to deliver a lot of precip here.
At least it's warm...be careful in the ice guys.
Kev stop bragging about all that warmth you are hogging and send it North.
My childhood friend with a new home in Boca Raton right on the intracoastal
just loves to watch the temps there from his office in PA.
and dreams of finally getting there...time for him to retire.

Alien is on the "reverse side" and he is in full summer right now I expect. Funny how this big ball of water works...

Good morning! 45˚F heading to 78˚F sunny day. In the Summer we have to take an Ice chest to the store so the frozen and produce don't spoil. I imagine some of y'all have to take an Ice chest to keep things from freezing.

Every year the ladies in our little Lutheran Church call up the members and give them jobs when they have their annual turkey dinner fundraiser always around Valentines Day. Last Sunday was the day and like always I am so amazed. The attendance in the Church is about 60 on Sundays and the ladies group has about a dozen members. The Church has been there since 1870 and most of the members can go out to the cemetery and look at the gravesite of their past generations that emigrated here.

The dinner is made and held in the old old school house next to the Church and it holds 100 people. This is the school house my mother walked to. (It was still a school till the 1960s.) Because of the limited seating they offer to-go plates and set up a drive through. This year we fed 1200 people in one and a half hours! The head cook in charge is 99 years old.

Good Morning! 53F @ 5:15AM. A mix of clouds and sun during the morning will give way to cloudy skies this afternoon. High near 75F. Winds light and variable.

Got a good start on readying the burn pile yesterday, with the hose laid (250'), Diesel soaked rags in place, light wind, and mild temps. Then I try to start the tractor, and the LCD display blinks and goes out. Then stays out, no matter how much key jostling or safety interlock checking is done. Long story short, it was the ignition switch, and a couple shots of DeOxIt got it going again, though not right away. It wasn't working before lunch, but after a bit the magic elixir did its stuff and the tractor fired off as usual. By then there was only an hour left to the 3PM cutoff for adding fuel to the fire, so I'll have to try again today. Just glad it wasn't mice chewing on wires; the ignition switch was bad enough to get to.

22F light rain icing starting to weight limbs/branch power lines. :(
Mid 40's for high late afternoon heavy rains.
Think it maybe wise let 2+ inches set until Wednesday before plowing.

Enjoy the day all.

Pig netting is our most commonly used stock fence, with wires closer at the bottom than the top - like this
Do you use the same in your country ?

I'm seeing the hog wire used more and more in central TX mostly to keep the wild hogs out instead of the livestock in. We do not use the word "Nettings". I have smaller areas that I use it and buy it in 16' panels. We call them cattle panels. We also use them for our our cattle round up pens. Most of the new fences are still 6 wire barbed wire fence with either cedar posts or a combination of treated and steel posts. The corners and ends are H braces.

I can't help it Drew. :D As I am working on my garden and thinking of how people live in such nasty cold. I could be a "Snowbird" easily. You are kind of in the middle with the best and worst of both sides, that way you know which you dislike worse... heat or cold.

Vet coming by today, so will be wrangling horses, cows, and goats... spring time worming. Lots of fun, anyone wanna come help?

34.4F with some light, fine snow ... looks like we got about 5" or 6" overnight ... probably the largest snowfall for the season so far.

The Woman is probably fit to be tied, having to drive in it ... hopefully it isn't as bad where she's at as it is here ... but I have my doubts.

Good morning! 43 degrees here at 7 a.m. Forecast is for 82 degrees this afternoon. 39 degree swing. Will be cleaning a few old dead trees in one of our pastures. Burn piles getting bigger.

35 this morning and headed to 38. A mix of rain and snow will be here by lunch. The local weatherman says temps at 5000 feet are cold enough for snow even though we are above freezing. It'll just help to keep the road clear. Very dense fog last night and this morning.

Plans for today are to walk birds and then work on taxes again.

Eric. We still use 16' cattle panels like that only all the holes are the same size and 50" tall. Then there are 16' hog panels the bottom holes are closer together for strength but are only 36" tall. Mostly use those panels for confinement areas as its 3/16-1/4" wire. For field fencing we use Page wire fence. Not nearly as thick of wire. Wild Hogs are just knocking on our door. Not here yet. Next county over. So many here still use barbed wire or high tensile. Much less labor intensive to build. I'm looking at redoing the feeding and weaning lot here this summer. Probably going to be a mixture of cattle panels and 7 strands of high tensile.

Just got out of bed. Maybe head to Farm and Fleet after some coffee and get some stuff for the Grapple install.
Temps feel warm at 26 and going to mid 30. And I saw 60 by Friday if they got that right.

I know -20F temps too well. Back in 1994 I think it was it was -22F. So cold it snapped a gas pipe under the street. The gas could not go through the frost but found it's way to our crawl space and filled the house. I woke up smelling gas, called 911 and got everyone up. We got into a fire truck when they showed up. Then they opened up the house to vent it. Took the gas co. 14 hours to get it shut off. They said the inside of the house was 26% natural gas when they got there. That stuff can blow up from 3% to 15% above that it will not blow. But the cold Blew the crap out of our two year old house. Water, lines all broke, cracked walls, popped nails out of the walls. What a mess. Yeah cold weather.

See I'm so he opposite. I can deal with the cold. Matter of fact I breathe better in the cold. If only I could find a place that never gets over 90, 85 would be better and no humidity. But wife has told me I can live anywhere I want, in this county. I've always wanted to go to Montana. But am afraid I wouldn't come back if I did. I've been watching the weather up there for 2 years now. Really think I could handle it.

If you was closer wouldn't care a bit to help. Cattle working days are relaxing.

57°, a lot of wind and heavy rain, we had nearly 7" of snow on the ground at noon yesterday, virtually all gone now.

Probably Australia

Yup. His profile shows that he is from Queensland, where the Great Barrier Reef is. (Been there - great scuba diving!)

Actually, we can in fact get 100F days here in Toronto in the Summer, although not often. Usually, a warm summer day in the city is considered to be between 80F and 90F, and it can get that warm at the cottage, too. Makes the lake nice and warm! (Like 75 or so.)

Just talked to The Woman ... she is in good spirits. Even laughed when I asked "So ... apparently the van started ok and you made it out of the driveway ok this morning ?"

Just goes to show ya never know what it's gonna be ...

Fish tanks are doing well ... moved all the Zebra Danios and Red Wag Plattys back to the 10 gallon ... the larger of the two African Spotted Leaf Fish is now big enough that they are probably starting to look like a meal. Also moved the smaller African Spotted Leaf Fish down there too ... as it was getting continuously harassed and out-competed for food. Same deal with one of the Chinese Algae Eaters. New plants seem to be doing well and are growing.

The RFUGF filtration system seems to be working well ... very little debris in the gravel and last I checked (a week ago) the nitrates were sitting around 10 to 20 ppm. Having as many scavengers as I do probably helps as well.

I think am going to repurpose the 10g tank after I rehome the fish in it to the 20g, and use the 10g to build a sump filter tho' ... hard to beat them for filtration capacity, in terms of bang for the buck ... cheap and fairly easy to make. Priced out the PVC pipe and fittings last night, some of which I have already, and it only came to around $30. Still need filter media and pump a tho' ... shooting for around 600 gph turnover out of the sump.

Have added a couple more fish: 1 Red-tailed Black Shark, 1 Red Paradise Gourami, 2 more Peppered Cory Cats, and another Bristlenose Pleco which went into to the 10g (for grow out)

Lower shelf for the stand for the second 55g is finished after a couple of coats of stain and 3 coats of Homer Formby's Tung Oil.

Might work on getting the trim installed on the second 55g today now that I have all the old silicon removed.

Good morning all. 45F this morning clear and breezy again today. No rain till Sunday, hope we get more that last Sunday! Forecast for today is 69F clear and windy 14+ mph again. Wife is burning limbs, 10 speed is done except for fine tuning, need to get started on the lawn mower, but if it doesn't rain it will be a leaf mower!
