Good morning!!!!

Good morning! 38˚ windy, heading to a windy sunny afternoon of 50˚.

The horse mats come in two sizes, 3/4" and 1/2", I use the 3/4".

Drew, those horse mats are pretty heavy and awkward to move, don't be surprised if you have to call your fireman friend for assistance. If he's not available I have given Ron the required training. :D

The house temp has dropped to 64˚ so it's time to fire up the wood burning stove for a few days so our electric co. won't have to dig up all that dirty brown coal. Kyle sorry about all the smoke heading your way.

Had a nice surprise yesterday when I fill the Subaru up with gas. It was only $15! I thought the pump was broke but then I saw the price per gallon - $1.39.

41 going to 54 and lots of rain. Pastures can use it. Critters are all in their huts staying dry including the horses. Nice to see all my work being used.

I keep telling my wife about the snow you guys are getting, and she keeps telling me how there will be a snowman built, a snowball fight, and sledding in our future if there is snow in Ohio when we go. I just keep laughing...

Coffee has been poured. 53° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 74° with plenty of sun. Wife's doctor appointment was moved to Monday shortly after posting yesterday. So we just enjoyed the warm weather. Off to local Swap Meet (Flea Market) today. I'm am sure there will be something I do not need there.
Drew, I did forget to mention those horse mats weight a few pounds.
All those in way of Epic Winter Storm. Stay safe and warm.
Good Morning All.

Good Morning! 50F @ 5:45AM. Cloudy with periods of rain. High 53F. Winds SE at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 100%. Rainfall around a half an inch.

Supposed to be another half inch due in tonight. But another forecast is calling for over two inches, best to just sit still and see what happens I guess.

Errands run, no need to go anywhere or do anything outside today, so I'll take a page from Drew's book and stay inside close to a warm fire, cozy and dry and listing to the rain on the roof and the wind in the trees.

Hope all of you in the storm's path are all dug out by Monday...

Yup, how about 90 pounds a piece. I eyed a stack of them in the TSC yard and said I'd be back, with my fireman helper. Maybe this Sunday afternoon.

kinda slippery out there, still below freezing, sirens wailing which isn't heard much here, passed a Ford Ranger in the ditch next to the highschool, two older guys looking
dumbfounded by finding themselves there, and that little truck was way down in that big ditch, wrecker job for sure. But they looked fine.
In this kind of icy stuff, tires and slow/low g driving seem to be more important than 4wd.

good thing today is a teacher's workshop day locally but they would have called school anyway.

Cough, cough, sniff, sniff. It's OK Don, can't blame a feller for trying to keep his wife warm.

Good morning from a cold 24, damp and gray North Bluff above Marseilles. Still better than what the east coasters have headed their way. We will have the daughter and grand-kids over tonight so the Lionel trains will be a running for sure. Still trying to make up my mind on a grapple for the JD.
Hunker down out there and be safe.
Kev.

Ok Kyle, just put on another log, keep your windows closed so your smoke detectors won't go off!

Kev.

There are a lot of grapples to choose from and any is better than none.
1. long unrestricted thick tines - good for digging and raking but heavier and not good for a light weight tractor but excellent with a heavier tractor.
2. two or one lid - sometimes one lid works better sometime two work better.
3. width - narrower than your bucket always works better.
4. cross bar in front holding tines together - makes it lighter because smaller tines used, and can use the scrapping method for pulling out smaller brush, but a bit harder to dig deep to get under than unrestricted tines depending on your soil.

Have fun choosing.

27 headed to 29 today. Snow, snow and snow is forecast for today. 8-16 inches.

Schools been out since Wednesday. Wife only worked 1 day this week. Monday was holiday and then snow days.

Plans for today are to stay inside although if the snow lets up I may go plow the road. I plow our county road out to the state road. Then with big snows I will plow out all 3 landlords driveways. Will need to venture out and check cows and feed later. It'll take longer to thaw out the truck than it will to do that.

We have a Generac 7500E portable generator. Works good have yet to need to hookup house with it. But plenty of power for saws and air compressors. Have had it for 2 years have 50+ hours on it and just changed the oil in it yesterday. Use stabilized ethanol gas and turn off gas if not going to use it for a while and let it run empty. The little battery is only good for about a year. But it starts easy with the pull rope. 1-2 pulls if you have choke right. 7500watts continuous and 9375w surge. Surge could be off from memory but close.

I really like that compass, too.

Took a chance on an early run to Costco for a generator this morning. Just as I thought, they opened an hour early due to the snow.

Decided to bite the bullet and get a 7,000/9,000 watt dual fuel unit and bought an extra tank of LP on the way home...I plan to try to avoid the gasoline/carb problems on the rare events of using it, and just run it on the LP tanks, which I have for the grill...should store easier and longer...but with gas at $1.49, the LP is more expensive.

It's in the house now and I'm getting ready to put the wheels on, etc. It's snowing hard already. Still won't help for providing water from the well during an outage, until I get a house connection, but feel like I'm better prepared. Brought in another load of wood for the stove, too.

22* here, snow expected to start soon.

spent the morning preparing, got 4 cans of diesel and 3 cans of gas, bucket on the loader, truck in the barn, cars in the garage. Stopped at the kubota dealer, because they advertise non Ethanol gas. They sell it in quarts, gallons and 5 gallon jugs, but they were out of everything but quarts. Should have bought one anyways but didn't.

Could not start my 5000W generator. last time ran it out of gas, tank was empty, also cut off the gas. This is the first time I've never been able to start it with a reasonable number of tries. sprayed carb cleaner, put seafoam in the tank before adding just a little bit of gas. No go. was cold out, so I put it back in the barn for now.

I looked at the champion dual fuel generator at costco the other day when I picked up the generac 2000i (which I did not take back yet, still unopened in the back of the vehicle). If I can't get my 18 yr old generator running, will consider a new larger one, but really should just do the transfer switch and go whole house.

After buying the generac the other day, I had 2nd thoughts after reading the bad review, and ordered a Honda EU2000i companion online from camping world. As I was about to write this, UPS pulled into the driveway and delivered it. So now I currently own 3 generators, but 2 are new in the box. Got to add oil to the new honda. Did pull out the manual, which I will soon begin reading.

my neighbor the plumber plows snow also, so he has been getting his plows on, his aftermarket cab put back on his NH tractor, and he has it on his trailor ready to go. He does some shopping center parking lots, uses the tractor to get the corners and to pile.

I hope i'm ready for the storm. I've got plenty of pellets on the porch, hopefully one generator that can keep it running if we lose power. Got plenty of gallons of water in the basement for emergency flushes. Have propane tanks on the camper we can also use, not to mention the camper heater if needed. bottles of water and plenty of batteries.

Stay safe everyone.

amazing
workmanship

where is all this cheap gasoline? Hasn't shown up here yet, still in the 1.80's.

being totally lazy today, not very motivated to do much outside.
nor much inside for that matter...

MKR, any cattle cars or crossings on your train or is an "urban" train?
now you must have a little tractor in there somewhere...

It's all relative Drew, I would say you've all got incredibly cheap gasoline - ours works out at $5.70 per us gallon. I'm not at all bitter and jealous though, because this is a good day - my pond has fish at last ! :dance1: Just updated the old alien thread. http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/projects/337516-alien-invasion-i-want-my-41.html

Hope you can all manage to keep warm in the blizzards.
