A three hour tour,
A three hour tour.... :)
Drew, hope you figure out if you want to buy it or not, and get feeling better.

We were out in the heat of the day, splashing with the kids in the water park. No sun burns thanks to Bull Frog sun block. Good stuff.

69°F and .21 inches rain last 24 hours.

Drywall started, but slow progress, guess my skill set is rusty, LOL

Be safe
Have a great day

bummer, bummer bummer
guess what didn't go well today...
The good news is that the engine did not overheat, though it blew way too much black smoke, clearly a turbo problem, would not get over 16 knots when it should easily do 20, and on the way back, oil pressure dropped to zero, thankfully owner was running it and saw it, immediately turned off engine. Oil all over the engine compartment. So...we came back being pulled by one of the owner's neighbors on a rope and it was even less fun for him than I.

As much as I wanted to like this boat, there were just too many issues with it. The man had done almost zero preventative maintenance, had not changed the generator oil since he got it, and wasn't sure when the main engines were changed. Loud squeal at idle from loose belts. Zero effort had been made to get it ready, and this is what happens when you let things go to chance. Boat failed. May or may not reconsider it. I asked for a half tank of fuel in it and full water tanks. I got there, no water in the boat, almost no fuel, and one could smell the septic from the docks, "oh, need to pump out the holding tank". Yeah? and you think that's a good thing to do on sea trial day when the whole boat smells?
I blame a lot of this on his broker who I found useless and just a disinterested observer of the scene.

Onward. Lots of other boats out there, and smarter sellers too. You have to know when to fold them...

thought about mowing the grass but it's 90 out and forgedda about it. Tomorrow morning will do.

Good news today is my aches and pains are decreasing; almost sure it was a bad muscle pull.

Drew, better you seen the problems before you bought the boat, luckily that lemon got away.

When I'm shopping for anything from a private individual, at least half of the evaluation is based on the seller, not what's being sold. It s/he is clean, well groomed, speaks well, answers questions without a lot of him hawing, and is knowledgeable about the item, I'm interested enough to seriously look at what's on the block. Otherwise, I take it that the person doesn't care enough about themselves to take proper care of what they're selling, and I'll be in for a world of work to get it back to right. Sometimes it's still worth purchasing, but only at a price that very conservatively accounts for the potential amount of work needed. But that makes it attractive only to a very rare type of buyer who actually enjoys dealing with abused orphans. I'm one of those people, but even I have limits. :)

Drew, some things are just not meant to be. Too bad you wasted a morning, but at least you're not the one cleaning up the mess. What you found during the trial is probably only half of what's really wrong with it, and offering half the asking price would almost certainly not be accepted well by the seller.

You got your feet wet, though, launching you back into the market. The longer you wait to purchase, the later it'll be in the summer and the lower the asking price. So not all bad, eh?

Sorry about the bummer sea trial, Drew.
I often find it amazing the pics post of items for sale on CL, rusted, sitting in field, often surrounded by other junk, but with a showroom price.

Drew, sorry to hear about trials not going good. What did the seller expect would happen without maintenance. When I sold my boat. Everything was working and had records. Didn't hurt that the marina where I sold it from also did the maintenance. Sea trials went so well we went fishing and caught a few nice sized walleye.
Here is one of the pictures I had in my ad.

So sorry it went that way Drew. Either the owner does not know any better or he does not care

At least you found out now instead of later. On to the next one

Worked on some estimates today made some phone calls but nothing too stressing. When you are in paradise it seems nothing to stress over. Great lunch chopped salad and tomato basil soup. Gotta love low country food

stay off that phone Buppies, you are on vacation.
Though with today's smart phones basically being laptops on our side, pretty hard to get away from anyone.
And in business, often you don't want to.
Being retired, I happily carry a stupid phone.

Sorry about the bummer sea trial Drew if it will make you feel better you could get in the swing of owning a boat now and just head to the dock once or twice a week and throw a couple hundred bucks off and head home!!!! :D :D

RNG, we were doing fine up to the knowledgeable part. He is a retired elderly anesthesiologist. Who drove an 90's Corvette.
And he came to the survey with bandages on his face after doing a face plant a few days ago at a dock getting off, tripping on something. Which any of us could do. but I'm not sure he is at his best, I hope putting it kindly.
Hey I got out on the water and I wasn't paying for the fuel.

   / Good morning!!!! #35,715
Low 80's today but extra humid. It's been threatening rain since 2pm and nary a drop yet.

Same rock picking routine as yesterday, minus the nap RNG. I managed to hang on until supper. :)

Drew, sorry the trial didn't go well. I wonder if that boat just putted up and down the river for most of its life?

Cannot afford to and you know what I mean. Found a 2004 GW twin 225s 49000. A little TLC maybe 28 foot long. This may be hard to turn down. 1000 hours or so ocean fishing dream for some

Ron, that was a really nice boat you folks had.
Drew, be glad the problems reared their ugly head on his dime.

Good evening all. 75F this morning, was upper 80's today with overcast skies and thunderstorms in the area. 1-2 in predicted for tonight. Flash flood watch through tomorrow noon. Trip went well back to Missouri 8 hr. drive + stops. Lake was 30 ft above normal pool, may rise another 5 feet, record level is 10 feet higher than current. Got to take out BIL pontoon boat for a couple of hours. Lot of family there. Came home yesterday, today mowed, and moved furniture.

Ron, nice boat.
Drew sorry about your sea trials, but a better boat awaits you. Good to hear you are getting your aches and pains checked properly and getting better.
Good to hear the vacationers are doing well and having fun!!
