Good morning!!!!

When I was a child we only had 2 channels in the UK and they broadcast very little in the daytime. The BBC had no adverts whatsoever (and still doesn't to this day) and on the commercial channel programs would only show advertising after about 15 minutes of program viewing.

I was about 10 years old the first time I visited America. Many things were very different and much better than the country I lived in. TV wasn't one of them. What a huge number of television channels, but hardly a one had anything worth watching on the hot summer days when my aunt said to stay inside. I remember seeing lots of commercials for used cars and constant cartoons of a moose (called bullwinkle ?). My cousin let me watch a Mexican channel with almost non stop bull fighting - aunty went ballistic when she discovered what had been keeping me quiet !

I don't watch much tv, mostly CNBC, the financial news. Occasionally the history channel. But not much history on there now! Mostly swamp things or something else silly.

63F after a high of 73 today and mostly sunny. It felt warmer, nice day.

This morning I went over the bush hog mower except for sharpening the blades and decided to mow a bit today here and there plus ~3 acres in the field. Back to rock picking tomorrow after a four day break. I have about an eighth to a quarter of an acre to do yet but it is another ugly patch.

I don't think that little area was ever totally cleared back when. It is peppered with rocks from football size on up to "I won't be moving them" size. Digging down just finds more rocks. I can certainly see why someone working with picks, shovels, pry bars and oxen would give it a pass. In the end I don't think there will be many to drive around, the excavator took out some monsters. Sure feels funny driving across that area on the tractor. You can tell when there is a big rock near the surface because the tires don't settle in the same.

Somehow I don't think you'll find that pic posted on the wall of any Catholic Church...
Maybe, maybe not...
"Since Georges Lemaitre first noted, in 1927, that an expanding universe might be traced back in time to an originating single point, scientists have built on his idea of cosmic expansion." Wikipedia

Drew, are you aware that Georges Lemaitre is a Catholic priest?
Just my :2cents:

Vince, fascinating, thanks.
I hereby eat my cosmic hat.
btw, I'm a New Hope native, SE of you. Grew up on a farm there South of town right on the Delaware River.

Perhaps I should restate my earlier thought, and not say Catholics but rather dogmatic believers?
Trick is to keep your mind open when so many are closed around you. I am currently surrounded by Baptists.
I would love to go visit their churches but might get tarred and feathered if I admitted not believing in Sin. Sin is big business here. Must be a lot of it going on because they sure seem focused on it.
I must be missing out on something here...:D
Drew

yeah, finally, rain pouring down. One half inch please not five...

Drew - that aluminum angle, routed in will be a nice finish, just might add that to my own project list (for next year)

got the router out, a Milwaukee 1 3/4hp fixed and plunge base alternative. I think fixed is the ticket, with a bearing equipped router cutter and a length of board clamped down keeping the router just far enough away from the edge. Adjustment on side of router for depth of cut.
I haven't bought router bits yet, will get a small assortment. Have lots of woodworking catalogs to pour through, though many are already on Amazon which makes things very convenient.

Local ironworks has ordered the aluminum one inch molding and when it comes in, I'll know exactly how thick it is.
The screws are going to be on the front, not the top; the top will be as flush as I can make it.
Need to find what will glue aluminum to wood. Screws are fine but I want some adhesive in there. Never tried that combo before.

Look into the foaming Gorilla glue. I believe it will stick to most types of material. Plus it's waterproof.

Swallows just built on my porch. hate to tear it down.
Swallows did that on my front porch a few times never bothered me, I would leave out some feed for them, but chased my wife and dog across the front lawn a few times.
So far summer has been busy hard to find the time to keep up with you all.

Drew, I just named a kitten Sin. Well actually the full name is Sin Nombre. After going about six weeks without thinking of a good name, I gave her No Name. And I wasn't sure I knew how to say Sans Nom.
