Lots of rain here the last few days.....we had about ten inches in last 24 hrs. Lots of flooding......some homes affected. Today at 12:50pm we had a king tide.......11.8 ft.....water had nowhere to go. Many roads are out.....many landslides.....rivers overflowing. High school gym has 3 ft of water in it....ruined. No rain expected tomorrow.

Ouch, that must have hurt.
I remember when as a kid I fell on an ice slide and put my teeth through too.
On the downside the pain wasn't a good feeling, on the other hand it was fascinating to be able to squirt out water with my mouth closed.

Glad that howling wind finally stop,drop alot branches/limbs for spring clean up.
Think I'll let pickup warm up before enjoying the bouncing ride to work.

Larry the cabinet maker delivered the two new cabinets yesterday and is coming to install them this morning. That will keep me busy this morning.

jerrybob sorry to hear you have high waters, that does make a mess. 3' in the school sounds like pretty unusual flooding.

Hmm....woke up, looked out the window for snow. Did not see any, got on the work for today, just checked the wood stove and someone turned on the snow machine. 1/2 fluffy and still coming down hard. Nice. Looks to be cold for the next 5 days. That's 20's and teens for us in this area.

Thanks for all the thoughts on the mouth. Very uncomfortable. Could have been worse. Teeth look to be all there, or from what I can see. LOL.

28 headed to 40. Snow flurries expected this morning - didn't feel any on my short hike before light, but the radar showed some - probably melted on the way down.

jerrybob - sounds like you guys got it really bad - I never think of your area flooding like that.

Well, picked up a can of Sea Foam yesterday based on your endorsement, and ran the log splitter engine for about 10 minutes - may not be enough time for it to "work" yet, but I am looking forward to starting the engine today - took 19 pulls again yesterday - well, at least it is consistent - 19 pulls each of the last times.

29 here. No snow here at MFW, but up North at work there is snow and a traffic mess it seems...

So my fixes to the wood stove mostly seem to have worked!!! I used fire brick mortar and fireplace silicon to make it closer to airtight. The heat pump has not come on since Saturday, until this morning. I let the fire die down overnight last night because I will be working in the office all day until late tonight and I wanted to be here when it went "out", and the furnace came on at 5am for the daily warm up. so far, no smoke in the basement from the embers.

I'm still fighting a cold it seems. I've had a cough, chest congestion, and a bit of laryngitis for weeks and weeks it seems. Keeping me from exercising and makes me sound terrible on the phone...

Work is a blessing, my paycheck addiction got a minor fix with my first paycheck in some time. Only problem is after single dad taxes, at my new reduced rate of pay my take home will cover alimony an child support and leaves me $150 to cover all my bills and food...

So today I am a bit depressed... But it still beats the alternative.

Been FRICKING COLD here the last few days...windchills are really bad. Maybe 3" of drifting snow at most, don't really have to clear it so I stay indoors and just run out for the mail. Remember having to drive to the job and work outside half the day in weather like this and it makes me appreciate retirement a lot more. Have been renewing the fourth bedroom in the older part of the house, new paint, enlarge closet and add mirrored sliding doors and ceiling fan in the room, remove and replace carpet, etc. which gives me something to do.

David MFW, sounds like you are getting the wood burner under control.

I decided to run the radiant floor heat in the bath and bedroom zones this morning. No sun today or tomorrow and that end of the house away from the wood stove is down to 63F this morning. Have to head off complaints.

Change of plans today; the cabinet guy called and said his heat pump is not working very well. Now I have no plans. I'm pretty sure failing heaters and furnaces could delay WWIII. :laughing:

I started to go to work, turned around and came home. 1" of snow and all the roads are pretty much shut down. It's not like they didn't know it was coming. now that it is light, the salt trucks are coming out, so will try again a little later.

No school, and not even enough snow to go sledding.

Good Morning! 37˚ high clouds, getting to 60˚ this afternoon.

Cut and split some large post oak and blackjack oak for the WBS yesterday and again the wood splitter popped them all. The heat pump has not been used this year and the WBS has kept the house at 70-73 during this cold spell. It is starting to warm a bit and we will get 2 hours in the 60s but then back into the 20s and 40s for a few days.

Total rain here for 2014 - 32.28" which is 5.5" below our yearly county's average. We did not hit our yearly average snowfall which is .5".

Whipper chased a coyote out of the yard last night - good thing the cats were having a sleepover inside.

30 this morning and headed to 35 today. Last day above freezing for a couple of days. Special weather statement was issued for tonight as windchills could get to 5-15 below zero. I know that's springtime for some but it's cold for us.

Have the boy for a couple of hours this morning then back to the chicken coop today. May have to turn on heat in order to pack feed. It was 40 in there yesterday without fans on.
