Steady rain over here in Shropshire.

Gas prices have been falling in the UK too, however it would take a heck of a fall to get it anywhere near what most of you guys are paying.
At the moment it is around $1.70 per litre.
If I have the conversion correct ( 3.78 litres per US gallon), that comes to $6.43 per gallon.
Hopes that makes you feel your tax increase is not too bad after all.

good morning all. Glad to see Roy is sleeping in. He's like our alarm clock here.
why I woke up at 4am I have no idea but once up, I just keep going. Am glad I'm retired and have a chance to take a nap in the afternoon.

raining pretty steadily and likely will all day, but fairly warm.
Going to be an inside project day. Yesterday worked outside most of the day with my helper and got a lot done. We had the burn pile going so that was a good time to take the FEL and scoop up all the old bad firewood rotting away and get rid of it so I can fill up the racks with good wood. The stuff left for me was way, way over the hill. Bug city. I have about half the rack filled up with fall down wood I have cut, but it needs some time under the tarp to dry out. I'll have this better organized for next winter.

Firewood delivered here is about 150 bucks, or 70 less than where I previously lived in PA. Trying to avoid buying, but I might need a cord this winter. I got my first propane bill of over 300 bucks and after the shock(electric bill was similar....) the thermostats went down a degree and I started looking for firewood in earnest. A 700 dollar monthly utility bill is nuts. Of course during that time all the windows were taken out of the house, the doors left open all day, etc, etc. Hardly an energy efficient month. But now with new windows in, I'm hoping this month might be better. As warm as it has been, maybe. New glass storm doors are also being installed and they have dramatically stopped the air leaks.

The propane guy has a nice sense of humor. I have a 500 gallon tank and "only" used 180 some gallons at 2.06 per gallon. The first thing he asked me is why I didn't use it all up like I was supposed to...
say what????

40 creeping up to 43 and the rain is almost here.

Inside projects here, too, after a trip to the gym.

Welcome Eric. That would make filling up a normal 30+ gallon p/u truck a two hundred dollar event.
I bet that would change things here. But instead we are now swinging wildly back the other way with an apparent glut of
gasoline on hand. The industry spokesman could only say "We need demand".
Ok, let's send you a supercharged Jag XJR long wheelbase and I'll have my Dodge 707hp Hellcat.
we need to do our civic duty. You'd better find a new gas card though...;)

Big time rain blowing through central-southern Ohio with around 2.5" expected. It's good for the fields and trees and is sure better than the 30" of snow it could have been. We've been watching the TV and see that some of Texas is getting a pretty good hit of snow. I think all they wanted was rain.

0F. Dry today, low-20's but snow 4"-8" on the way this evening turning to sleet & rain Sunday am.

I've been enjoying the book 1491 about the pre-Columbian Americas. A lot of the book is focused on what happened shortly after European contact as a means of estimating earlier populations and indications of how the indigenous people were faring at the time.

I guess I should make a small grocery run today. Tomorrow looks messy and tractor time for cleaning up, supposed to have some cabinets installed Monday.

Be safe.

Well, since we are only getting a sprinkle so far, I guess I'll have to go outside and split some logs I cut on New Year's Day...if I can get the splitter started. I have fresh gas, ethanol treatment, and a good attitude, so I'll be good for a few extra pulls on the started rope.

The wood rack is down low, and will be good to bring in firewood before the hard rain starts.

Got coffee brewing. 28° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 52° with lots of sun. Last day of low temperatures. Looking forward the 70° promised for later next week.
Drew, haven't seen my electric bill for the last 2 weeks. But I'm sure it going to be a few dollars. 2 1,500 watt heaters running about 20 hours everyday. But we are warm.
Eric, welcome.
Good Morning All.

36 and rain high of 39 later today then heavy rain tonight but tomorrow high close to 58. By Wednesday of next week coldest air of season with highs only in 20s lows in single digits for a couple of days before going back to 30s for lows and 40s for highs and you guessed it more rain.

Taking dining room chairs to have seat bottoms recovered then go look at some jobs. Good morning all

That's 5 cents a gallon. In additional tax. That is going to be a 45 percent increase. Going from 3.5 percent of the wholesale price to 5.1 percent. Makes me re-think the horses. LOL. One has to love taxes, there is no escape from them.
The tax is not a "percent of the wholesale price" it is PER GALLON. If the gas costs $1/gallon wholesale they tax it sixteen and two-tenth cents. If the gas costs $10/gallon wholesale they tax it sixteen and two-tenth cents, DIESEL is taxed higher. Interesting enough diesel taxes didn't rise.
Fuel Type Rates per Gallon
July 1 - December 31, 2014 *Rates per Gallon

23 and dry at the moment, starting to see some clouds weather predictions for this afternoon, snow1 to 3 inches depending on location, then changing to freezing rain to rain by early tomorrow morning with temps in high 50's to 60. Really this is January but has been good to my heat bill.

Well the TBN app finally unlocked. But it was 52 this morning when I got up. Headed to 61 today. Rain really slowed down my brush pile burning but there's still some coals so we will see if it will re light. Here's what it looked like when I started.

Sad to hear that Donna Douglas aka Ellie May Clampett passed away. What an iconic comedy show back in the day.

I believe they stated she was 82 or 84 years old and she died in Baton Rouge La.

I make sure my young 'uns get to watch some Beverly Hillbillies.

A cloudy day so far. Weather has been "socked in" cold and bleak for the last few days. Supposed to get up to 62F today but not holding my breath. Back to 27F Monday morning.
