Nice additions to your home there Drew.

A welcomed lull to precip up here in the northeast. Just cold and windy but hey, it's New England and its almost winter. :snowflake:

Ron must have flowers blooming there too. Sigh. And TxDon will be staying warm too. And even FarmGirl.
Maybe she'll come back and say hi for Christmas in a nice elf costume. Driving a tractor of course.
Neighbor behind me has roses in bloom. Need a lemon or orange? Just step out the door and pick one. :licking:
txdon is getting our weather from earlier in the week.
70's by Christmas here in AZ.

The quality of that education is a bit dubious at times, however.:D

Cold for a few days, then some big rain for about Christmas.

Politics aside, he seems to be a great guy.

Over there, when you are a hammer, everything is a nail... One of the reasons I stay out of it...
I'm just a different kind of hammer myself... :D

Be well Randy,

Good evening all. Overcast day failed to get out of the thirties, with near calm winds. This morning was food/Christmas shopping, this afternoon was discovering wheel bearings on my van are now sealed, which is good as the high top does not fit into the garage :( . Prepping for first family get together Saturday. Monday we leave to vist more family in TX and house hunt.

Good Evening. 1845, rain, 52F with 88% humidity. Today's high was 57F and the forecast low for tonight is 47F. It's been a cold rainy day here in NW Florida.

I worked late, getting to bed at 0230 and hoping to sleep in this morning. A ringing phone at 0800 put a stop to that plan, but so far I'm doing pretty good. Tonight's party is a late one, but it is self clean so I won't be as late as last night. I can't complain. Some years I make twice as much in December as most months. And it is always slow after the Holidays, so then I can complain about not getting enough work:D

Drew your place is looking good. It should be finished soon, then you can sit down for a few minutes before you decide on your next project.

You guys stay safe and warm,

Larro

I was thinking he may have called her Cupcake one time too many and she put him in an acid bath to knock the rust off him :confused3: Glad to hear there was a sighting at FP.

29 heading to 46 and sunny, which may be our nicest day for the next few.

Larro, I'm also a John Prine fan - one of my first concerts was seeing him open for Poco in a movie theatre when I was in high school.

Pound for pound, Prine is the best song writer in Texas. Traditionally I've been a jam band guy, but I've been in a Texas mood for the last 3 or 4 years. I also listen to a lot of Hayes Carll, Robert Earl Keen, James McMurtry, Ryan Bingham and Ray Wiley Hubbard.

Just put a batch of double chocolate biscotti in the oven. Makes the house smell awesome. These are the only cookies I will make at Christmas. Cover them with white chocolate and red and green sprinkle. Awesome stuff.

Since we have to replace heat pump should we go with 13 seer or spend $1500 more for 15 seer. Both outdoor units will rust out in about ten years. Wondering if you all have any thoughts. 15 seer gives you two stage air handler and more fancy thermostat.

How old is your ductwork? You won't see a big difference between a 13 and a 15 with older ductwork done in sizing that was adequate when it was built ( like 20 years ago)

   / Good morning!!!! #27,918
Duct work was put in in 1980 when unit was built, originally belonging to my parents

To get the efficiency the newer technology higher efficiency units need to breathe easier and more efficient as well.

So practically if you replace a dinosaur air handler and outside unit with a 13 seer you see big improvement, but jumping from 13 seer to 15 seer with the same old ductwork you don't see an improvement enough to justify jump in cost.

Get a couple of opinions from a couple of good HVAC folks before you jump. Could be as easy as a new plenum or two and some additional return air ducts or could warrant a whole gutting.

Air handler and outside unit are 12 seer units outside unit installed in 2002 indoor air handler unit 2006. The unit now is noisy inside. Duct work is suspect and would require ripping down walls and ceilings. The cost over ten years life I'd $150 per year but if no real improvement that would be a waste

Thanks for responding I'm just trying to make a good decision.
