I thought I posted this morning, but I see I didn't. Our high was 79F. It has dropped to 53F, but shouldn't get much cooler tonight. We have a 10% chance of rain through to the weekend, when it goes up a little higher. I'm still at work {at 2220}. I thought it was a Christmas party, but when I got the customer to sign the check-out sheet, I saw it was a birthday party. Maybe I should pay better attention. I can lock up and leave, but since I'm here this late, I'll go ahead and watch the rest of Monday Night Football. The team from Latin America just took the lead over the Jets. Let's see what the Jets can do now.

David/Sodamo, your rainfall amounts are just amazing. Multiply by seven or eight to get inches of snow. Would be like living on an Alpine pass. Instead, you live on a tropical mountain. Unless you are an avid snow skier, much better idea.

We did ski about 25 days a year when we lived in Europe. Loved those alpine passes, but now get total joy seeing snow way up on Mauna Kea, far, far away from my shovel.

23 right now...feels colder though. High today will only be 30 degrees.

Been tossing and turning since about 0030....going to be a long day, I think.

40 heading to 39 and rain and drizzle all day. I guess our flirtation with spring like weather is over.

   / Good morning!!!! #27,266
21F and clear @ 05:18 ... freezing drizzle and rain in the forecast for today before we eventually make it up to a high of 38F ... which will also be the low tonight.

Just came down from the shop to check the temp in the house and get the stove reloaded and fired up for the woman. Will also grab a bite to eat before heading back up ... maybe some french toast.

Temp in the house was only down to 68F ... and that was with the stove throttled back about halfway.

Got two pieces of aluminum angle for the aux lights drilled and prepped to paint last night along with sharpening more teeth on the wood chipper feed roller. Also did some clean up ...

Made a real mess in the shop yesterday ... I screwed up on the ballast block measurements and had to remove about 4" x 4" section of 'crete across the top of the front of the block. Between the hammer drill and the masonry blade in the angle grinder, I had a dry white fog sorta thing going on ... concrete dust everywhere.

Hope everyone has a good day ... and remember: measure twice, cut once ... or not at all ...

25F low 30's for high wintry mix arriving tonight...could be little messy tomorrow morning.

Enjoy the day all.

36 and raining this morning high of 38 maybe. Shock to system from high of 71 yesterday. Paper work day today hopefully back to production tomorrow. Looks like West Coast is getting some much needed rain. Christmas is just around the corner and there is so much to do with so little time.

MossFlower hope you get the news you've been hoping for and wood stove problem clears up

16F, mid-20's today with a chance of sunshine. Mr. Sun has been MIA lately. 1-3 inches of snow tonight turning to rain and freezing rain tomorrow morning. Probably the same weather RS is having today will get here.

RS sorry about that concrete dust.

deerseeker001 that reminds me I should hunt up the spare loader bucket curl hyd. hose I think I have somewhere. Haven't changed one in quite a while but they do wear out from the constant flexing.

Thomas keep your nose to the grindstone, my SS deposit is due next week. You will get to retirement and love it before you know it.

Buppies I must be keeping the heat down here, going up to 60 today and high sixties tomorrow. Up and down, up and down.
Headed in to town this morning to sign up for Medicare though actually it seems one is automatically enrolled in the basic A&B but obviously more is needed. Then a haircut and back home to start moving things in finally, and permanently, into the kitchen. Backsplash tile still to come; not good planning on my tile place to not have the tile in on time.

I use Hale Orchards in Florida to send citrus gifts for Christmas now to family. This year I got the assortment with some chocolates and nuts in it around the fruit so I'll see how that is received. I used to use Jackson & Perkins to send amaryllis plants but after a few years of that, those huge beautiful flowers almost become expected. Besides if you are a better gardener than me, you can have them bloom again next year. Mine rarely do, just send out leaves without flowers.

Morning all, 25F heading to 36F. Put snow tires on my son car last night, family is now ready for the snow.

Poured second cup of coffee. 37° with clear cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 55 with partly cloudy skies. Travel yesterday was OK. Not much traffic. Found Diesel for $3.199. txdon and I went for a ride on his golf cart. Scoping out fence line to clear and use for fire wood. Should be a good day to enjoy some outdoor activities.
Drew, you need Medicare and a good Supplemental policy to cover you when medical problems show up. Also need a Medicare D policy for med's. My experience shopping for these items is that the good and cheaper ones do not offer commissions to reps. You need to do your own research for these.
Good Morning All.

The 72 from yesterday is history, 43 this morning and that's the high for the day, with some rain.

Ron I'm glad you had a good trip. I got tagged for 50 cents more a gallon in VA recently.
As far as insurance, I always buy the most comprehensive, and then do a cost/benefit analysis on the copays based on how many times
I usually go for office visits and monthly prescriptions. X prescriptions times Y copays times 12 equals Z out of pocket totalled for all, repeat for recurring visits like specialists and MRI's, which I happen to need regularly and then compare to additional cost of most expensive plan vs next one down. I only have one medical choice in my area; the Vidant hospital group so going out of network is unlikely. Lot of things to consider and I err on the side of more coverage. The bottom line is that the bulk of the cost is supported by the US Government and that means all of you. And I thank you. Really. And when your time comes, you can thank the rest of us too. I just hope our fearless leaders get their act together on funding SS and Medicare. It's such a big part of the national budget, after the military. It would be nice to hear that we don't have to listen to the doom and gloomers constantly predict the time when there will be no more money left. Ok, no politics meant, back to regular programming. Besides my initial reaction to most politicians is aversion and suspicion. Whereas my reaction to my tractor is nothing but delight...;)

Did you by any chance drive past some firewood? :D

Poor Ron, he could be sipping vegan wine next to a glowing, cozy fire.

Good morning! 40˚ on the hill, cloudy, cold the coldest day this month. A good day to gather firewood and clear fence line, not because of the weather but because an expert is here to show me how it's done up North.

dave1949, I didn't check to see if the wine was vegan but the pulled pork sandwiches were, ever hear of BBQ jackfruit? Ron gets to experience some untraditional Texas food when he visits. Starting a fire is tempting but looking at the forecast the wind will star blowing from the south tonight and we are heading back to the 70's soon.

9 this Morning with a chance of flurries with a high of 22.It will seem like a heat wave compared what we had.

38 this morning and headed to 45 today. Really feels warmer than that so not complaining. Time to get the old bull loaded up and sold. Otherwise it's a muddy day.
Have a couple of trees I've been meaning to turn into firewood. So may get to work on that today. They were dug out in the spring because they didn't leaf this year. 15 more days of the fall no burn season. Then I can light brush piles.

Nope, jackfruit is a new one for me. I had to look it up: BBQ Pulled Jackfruit Don't think I've ever seen jackfruit at our grocery. Knowing our grocery's produce section, it would be iffy even if they carried it. But I book marked it for possible future use.

So you and Ron will be riding fence line today. Try to stay out of trouble. :D

23 and headed for 34 today. Might get a little snow tonight. I am going to my regular Tuesday lunch today, a bunch of retirees from my lodge. I am the youngest one there, so I try to help a couple of guys, by taking them to lunch. I have one guy who is becoming absent frequently. At 86, he just doesn't feel up to it. In the last year, he has slowed down a whole lot. I have been doing this for 5 years, we haven't lost anyone yet, but a couple have moved to Florida. The old boy comes with his wife, but it is getting harder, and I don't know that he will be up to it much longer.

Going to clean up the garage and shop a bit. That's my job for today.

Have a good one!

Nope, jackfruit is a new one for me. . . . Knowing our grocery's produce section, it would be iffy even if they carried it.

Our Whole Food Market in Austin did not have it also.
Finding it is hard since the tree will freeze even in southern Florida it has to be exported. We finally found some canned and frozen jackfruit in an Asian World Market in Austin. The canned jackfruit is the best for these sandwiches. They are now my favorite sandwich.
