Been having a huge headache with two of our Vista computers, for some reason they have begun running like they have only 20% of the processor operating, and scanning them with the Reliability and Performance Monitor System Diagnostics says everything is okay...and they have had no software or hardware changes for months now.

Hate dealing with software issues...

I hate dealing with software issues also. My wife had the same problems with her HP/Vista laptop. I upgraded her software to Windows 7 a year ago and it hasn't had a burp since. Plus, the best part is she's never been happier with her computer. My year old Lenovo laptop with Windows 7 has been rock solid. So, one solution is to upgrade the operating system to Windows 7.

Just went out to scrape the windows and warm up the wife's car, the thermometer reads 16 degrees and the air is dead calm, but the temperature feels like zero or below. I don't know if there is a term that is used to describe weather when the temperature feels much colder than the actual air temperature.

I noticed it yesterday, it seemed to be a lot colder than the 30 or so indicated. I was going to work outside, but it really didn't feel good, so I went back inside to have some hot coffee. Maybe a function of humidity?

Thanks for your input, the weird thing is, neither PC has given the slightest problem before. Desktop 3 1/2 years old, laptop is 3 years old, Both are maxed out on 4 GB of Ram, the hard disks are 75% free and there is no crapware and practically no programs on either. Thought about upgrading the OS to Win 7 but the cost is such a ripoff...

02-20-2012 Currently 32 degrees. We received 4 inches of snow yesterday and during the night. There was several hours of icy wintry mix before the snow and everything is covered with ice. I just went outside to brush off the Hughes dish plus the Direct TV dish.

33 on top of 2" of melting snow, which is 2" more than we were supposed to get and way more than I wanted! Oh well, headed for 51 today and sixties most of the week. Now where are my Daisy Dukes?! :laughing:

Should get up to around +8 or 45F today, cloudy and may get some showers. Bit breezy as we are waiting for the next storm to come in late today, forecast is for lots of rain and wind. Got two of our baby goats in the house for a couple of days, one is an orphan so she will be bottle fed for a couple of months but it's a chore I don't mind.
