Pretty chilly here this AM, around 24, but high pressure's here and we should get a lot of sun today. Contemplating another trip down to Palmyra, Roy, to look at "my" plane again....

Currently 40 and the last gasp of non-existent winter BIG 2-4" snowstorm predicted just yesterday is fizzeling out into more effing rain... Maybe a little snow over night, but with temps of 50 tomorrow, it will only act to mess up the commute for those few (non-government employees) who work tomorrow.

I hope to God we get at least a couple hours sledding before it is gone...

Tomorrow I'm off to get another trailer load of hay for the horses. I need to start a thread on working with the horses, they confound me some days...

Roy - One of my FAVORITE thing about WV properties is that they often come with their OWN Natural Gas wells. I was considering a 169 acre place 6-7 years ago (I shoulda bought it too) and it had TWO wells. Talk about being able to live off the grid, DUDE!!! Gimme the side of a mountain any time.

Someday I'd like to own a REALLY BIG chunk of land. Some miraculous day when I can sell all 3 properties at a profit and spend it ALL on a big spread in VA, TX, or WV... That'll be the day...

I feel good about this one...but not going to get too confident.
One good thing is the wifey also wants to go...first time for that!
Most of the properties we've looked at (online) are 8 to 15 acres...which is good. Saw one place...NEW construction, nice house and 64 acres for $199000!!! Great, if you want to live on the side of a mountain!

I used to work with a guy that told me that he had 110 acres in WV. He said it equaled about 10 acres of flat land in Michigan. It's good that your wife wants to go too. Good luck on the job, it's good to hear of folks doing better.

David, I did see several of the properties using "Free Gas!!" as a selling point.
We're keeping in the $200K (plus/minus $50K range) and pretty simple, small houses. There are a considerable number in that range. There's also quite a few with mostly level lots. Of course, "mostly level" in WV might mean anything less the 30 degree slopes!

IrvingJ, the snow coming through today will mostly be south. Unless there's a change, you won't see any on your trip to Palmyra. I don't know much about flying, but if you take that bird up...do watch out for icing on the surfaces!

Spent the day here, waiting for the sunshine that was forecast... finally cleared up some in the afternoon, supposed to get pretty cold again tonight... around 12F.

Spent most of the afternoon down at Parlin Field in Newport, NH, where I'll park my little airplane when I get it. Did, however, get to fly down to Nashua, NH (almost a 2-hr drive by car, 40 mins by light plane ) for a late lunch with a small group in two planes.

The one I rode in was a 1965 Piper Cherokee C (180), which, as it turns out, was the very first airplane I ever "got my hands on" back in 1966 in Huntsville, AL. Flew in that one to Greenwood, MS in late May of '66. About 2 weeks before the place blew up with race riots. Scary to watch on TV back at home in NH. Must have been really awful there.

Might try for Palmyra, PA (in my car) later in the week.

33 with clouds and 4-6" of snow on the ground (but it is melting fast I fear). High of 51 predicted. I'm pretty sure the Tractor will not be needed to move snow.

The AWD Flex is awesome in the snow!

I hope it last long enough for a couple sled runs with the girls this morning after we feed the horses & chickens.

It was beautiful to watch it snowing, and it made the place look magical.

I will go pick up 25 or more bales of Hay for my horses around noon today.

Just went out to scrape the windows and warm up the wife's car, the thermometer reads 16 degrees and the air is dead calm, but the temperature feels like zero or below. I don't know if there is a term that is used to describe weather when the temperature feels much colder than the actual air temperature.

Been having a huge headache with two of our Vista computers, for some reason they have begun running like they have only 20% of the processor operating, and scanning them with the Reliability and Performance Monitor System Diagnostics says everything is okay...and they have had no software or hardware changes for months now.

Hate dealing with software issues...
