decision made to drive to Swan Quarter docks and pick up some fresh shrimp and scallops.
About an hour drive East, should be fun on a pretty day.
I'll try to get some pics of the fishing boats, lot of derelicts there, always something interesting to look at.

NO TALKING reminds me of fireman days when I called bingo every Wednesday night for 7 years.
Even with smokeaters smoke was awful, chain smoking obese women eating piles of snacks on table, but if you nudge their
cards or mess with their game, it got unfriendly quickly. Too slow! Too fast! (machine was on a timer and I was pretty consistent)
women just needed someone to gripe at. Had to quit because I got new contacts and my eyes couldn't take the smoke
anymore. Thankfully years later they banned all smoking in there, and the numbers coming to bingo increased significantly.

Good Morning!!!! 70F @ 8:15AM. Sunny. High 88F. Winds WNW at 5 to 10 mph.

Ever since I rescued the van from the ex-mechanic, the Check Engine Light (CEL) has been stuck on, and when checked with a reader, a P0505 code is found. On the Subaru 2.2L engine, that means there's a problem with the Idle Air Control Valve, so yesterday morning I decided to remove it and see if I could find a problem. Four hoses connect to it, and two had them had clamps that were either missing or not installed correctly. But to top it off, one of the four screws that held it in place on the engine was missing, and the sealing gasket between the two showed pretty clear signs of leaking. Since the IACV meters air into the engine to vary the idle speed, and uncontrolled air was getting by the leaking gasket and hoses, it was no wonder the P0505 code was bring thrown. The Subaru dealer had the gasket in stock, but the screw is on order. Should have both by Thursday, and hopefully that's the end of that story.

While I was on a repair roll, I replaced the sticking valve in the guest bathroom toilet. Pretty easy, but lousy instructions had me doing things two and three times to get it right. And it was made in USA; no Changlish to blame!:confused2:

Also ordered replacement rings for the cylinders I'll be sending off for repair on Monday. Should get the cylinders and the pistons boxed up today.

Also learned that no building permit is needed to park a shipping container on the property, and will use one to store my palatalized firewood. Just need to find the right one at the right price. Any words of wisdom out there on the what and where?

Listened to a few songs from the Bladerunner soundtrack yesterday evening on the patio, and decided to watch the movie again. Lots of nuances going on in it, and I see something new every time. Think I'll watch the new version tonight...

Good Morning everyone!!!!!!

Another beautiful early fall day here. A sunny and clear 42ºF for today's low; a clear and sunny 76ºF presently; and I anticipate a clear and sunny afternoon high ~80ºF Dog walk #1 and dump run accomplished. On today's agenda- watering what's left of the garden, dog walk, nap during college football.

Taking advantage of yesterday's weather we made it to Queechy Lake in NY and had lunch at the Backwater Grill. The food was surprisingly good and the waitress said we could launch our kayaks from their parking lot. We should have taken her up on the offer as launching the kayaks from the NYS boat ramp was a little challenging. On the way back we stopped off for barbecue takeout. This place is the "real deal" for good barbecue. From past conversations had there with real live southerners they agree. It was a good day.

Grev- Nice job and thank you for sharing this project. I hope you can enjoy the fruits of your labor for many years. You were posting about a gas fireplace; is your grill gas fired.

Ron- That's a decent looking treehouse for its age. Thanks for sharing.

Kyle- Belated birthday wishes for your Wife. I hope she has many more in health and happiness.

Randy- I am sorry to read about your bronchitis. I hope it resolves quickly and does not travel "south". Respiratory illnesses suck anytime of year; but it seems that getting sick late summer/early fall are worse. Maybe its the fall time allergens?

Hawkeye- I am happy to read that you are finally seeing + gains with the chiropractic and massage therapies.

Bruce- A lot of the store bought prepared horseradish have the same two ingredients as mine. I am not surprised about the "use by" by date. I do not put a lot of stock in most expiration by dates generally. Once it starts to discolor its days are numbered.

Eric- I looks good to this layman. Thanks for sharing this project.

Billy- What a gift experience form Nature. It does seem late; maybe it's a second brood due to your stewardship of your property. The abutting land trust and my wife and I are trying to bring back woodcock and grouse through improved/improving habitat.

Drew- All the seafood my help offset the - effects of those hotdogs. You have the best of both worlds I hope that everything goes as planned and you can enjoy some good eats w/o the labor. I always hated "Bingo Nigh" in any longterm care environment with which I was involved. It always got nasty. I was always amazed just how competitive the elder bingo playing population can become. I saw two elderly gentlemen both stroke victims and wheelchair bound go at it. Due to their one sidedness they had to strategically maneuver themselves in their wheelchairs for best advantage. It was like two (old sailing) ships of war trying to engage. It was definitely slow motion. They never came to blows as they both became too fatigued to continue their battle and both fell asleep. There was lots of verbal exchanges

Roy- I hope your dentures get correctly fit soon.

I hope that everyone is having a decent weekend, those healing and mending continue to do so.

Forecast to be a wet weekend. May hamper my plans to brushhog. May have to have an inside alternative.

Spur of the moment, wife and I went out to dinner at nice restaurant in Hilo last night. I had their pork chop, she had ribs. Both excellent.

We both like horseradish. I will usually add extra to cocktail sauce if available for shrimp or oysters. Rarely use with roast beef. Actually have more wasabi, which usually is not real but a horseradish based alternative. We do have one Japanese restaurant that prides self on real wasabi from Japan, but they stay booked out a year in advance.

David- I agree about that powdered wasabi. Added to mayonnaise it makes a decent horsey sauce very similar to Arby's.

Change of PM plans = a trip to that local restaurant and retrieve my CC from the previous evening there. I guess that Brogen has another truck ride today. He scored big at the transfer station this AM. He always gets 2 sometimes 3 doggie treats there from the workers there.

I've used diamond drill bits, one was a Dewalt &the other larger one was a different co.,Diamond drill ??? I'm pretty sure I got both of them from Amazon. I used them to drill holes in the bottom of wine bottles for my wife to make bird feeders with. I'm sure if you just search for diamond drill bit or maybe glass drill bits you'll find them. Thet were a little pricey as I remember but did a good job. Just have to be patient.
