42°F and cloudy this morning, only going up to 57° today. CLOUDY! Haven't seen any clouds around here in weeks, since the remains of Helene passed by us over three weeks ago. Not knocking the crystal clear skies all that time, but I was surprisingly excited to see clouds again. Even drove through some light rain here and there this morning.

Going to get close to freezing overnight tonight. That will probably end the pepper plants' extended production.

Good Morning, gents.

Good Morning!!!! 53F @ 8:15AM. Areas of fog early, then partly cloudy this afternoon. High 69F. Winds W at 10 to 15 mph.

Spent most of yesterday working paperwork, but did get replacement tires and tubes ordered for the e-bikes. Thorn proof tubes. We shall see.

Out running errands today, probably get a regular flu shot.

70°F and 1.37 inches of much need rain. More than doubling our total for the month.

My curry kabucha soup was a hit at HH, no surprise. Lots of other awesome, coconut inspired dishes.

Main focus today is purging the garage.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

I agree! Overcast and clouds today for first time
but....cold front coming down, today's 85 in NO will be 71 tomorrow.
and no rain

ok drive, first part was an elevated concrete highway about 30 feet up from swamp, went on like that for maybe ten miles. That must have been fun to build.
Bridge over Mississippi was fine, no backup, lot of traffic all the time though

got in early, decided to walk around today and take pics, will go to lunch tomorrow.
what a pretty place, much nicer than I expected, not like that dump in Marin Co.
this has beautiful landscaping and a water view.

I heard a jet blast past so pretty sure drone won't go up.
this place looks like Florida down to the gekkos

Good morning! Low was 41°, heading up to 77°. We actually have some rain chances Wed thru Sat. Hope we get some, it's been almost 6 weeks since the last sprinkle. Now the forecast has the temps dropping into the mid 60's starting this weekend. Sunday's low is forecast at 33°.

Topped off the pond on Saturday..... by Monday morning, it was 6-8" low..... mmmmm. So, shut it down and let it sit overnight.... no drop in level in the 3 sections.... moved some rocks at the top exposing the saturated dirt. Apparently, the upper waterfall started a "siphon effect" by surface tension on the rocks and diverting the water behind the waterfall.

Fixing the pond is on the agenda for today. That's probably all. If I have any remaining energy, maybe grease the tractor.

The son has a second interview this afternoon at an engineering firm. Hopefully a new door opens for him. First interview was on Friday morning, by afternoon, they called to schedule the second -- a good sign.....

Wifey is still nursing her back. No debilitating jolts over the past couple days, but she is being exceptionally careful how she moves. I got close to getting her to go get checked, but no joy. Talk about stubborn....

Everyone have a great day!

I've been wondering (and worrying a bit) about how KilroyJC made out during Helene. He was living and working in western North Carolina and planning on building on his property in the mountains. He hasn't posted here in over 6 months. Hope he is okay. Anyone heard from him?

Heard from D in Tokyo. She is having a good time

"From yesterday. Went to the fish market, Ueno Park and wandered around the temples and pagodas and then to Ginza for an amazing sushi lunch we thought was going to be low key and was fancier than expected but delicious. Then back to Roppongi and wandered around some more then back to our neighborhood for some late night skewers — a new favorite food. Simple and flavorful like mama’s cooking."

Good Evening,
Out running errands today, probably get a regular flu shot.
Scot, we got the flu shot a couple of weeks ago along with the latest Covid booster ! Did you also get the Covid booster ? Not sure we needed it but Kathleen thought it was a good idea !

Scott, sorry about your kitty. Always hard to say goodbye to our furry friends.
Thanks Ted ! 🙏

looks like it's going to blow tonight, but not yet
still hot and sticky, very sticky out
that north wind coming in N/NE late tonight should bring
in much more pleasant weather tomorrow.

I am going to Liuzza's by the track, funny name, for lunch to get
a barbecued shrimp poorboy and some gumbo.
I streetviewed it and it's in an old community that reminds me of Chambersburg
in Trenton. Looks like an old Italian corner restaurant.
But it's not Italian.
Old sign says Lounge.
did we used to go lounge around?
isn't that where the lounge lizards were?...
those same lounge lizards that all fathers warned their daughters about...

this place was reasonably close to where I am now and highly rated.
I'll try to remember to take pics before I chow down.
I know I want the gumbo but also want the crawfish etouffe (sp)
going to see if I Can get that to go. And maybe another poorboy to go.
Each one is two meals for me.

about a buck fifty a minute to get uber'd to lunch
6pm and getting dark here already.
time for a small portion of something very, very good.
the best of Texas smothered in blueberries.
this is a fine way to end the day.

   / Good morning!!!! #198,012
Good (Wednesday) morning. Overnight Low of 9.2C and it's presently 17.7C, lightly overcast with a slight breeze.

A 'notice' on Fb from the local Council said that a 'Services Australia' mobile centre will be in town on Thursday (0900-1600)... no appointment needed, YAY! This will save me a trip into Launie at the end of the month IOT arrange my OAP benefits, to take place at the end of the year. I'll be there bright and early.

Today is 'into town' day for mail and groceries.

That's about it, take care all.

Paul glad progress on punch list. Hope today's goes well. Hope the turboprop behaves during acceptance flight. Isn't that the plane that had engine lose oil and look like marshmallow guy.

Yes the plane behaved as it should, it was accepted, just waiting for the funds to transfer now. You have a good memory, it was the same plane.

Punch list is moving right along, there is not much left to do. Even though I won’t be there for the inspection, I don’t expect any hiccups.

good morning all from the Atchafalaya Swamp in Louisiana.
Very quiet night, no alligators chomping on my tires

Thomas you'd better make it a strong chain for Boo's swing.
would be fun to get a pic of him playing on it

heading out this morning over the Mississippi bridge at Baton Rouge.
wondering how backed up that will be, not many bridges over the River there.
Past Plaquemine and then route 10 takes me right into NO near the campground at edge of Lake Pontchartrain.

two days surrounded by boats, this should be fun. Friend's brother who lives in Northern Louisiana told my friend to tell me not to take rv downtown, it's crazy to drive there. Yup, no intentions, part of appeal of this campground is easy on and off.

Stopping at Walmart in Baton Rouge on way to pick up something for kitchen.
then headed into NO. Likely to be distracted by all the boats and will simply walk docks this afternoon. But maybe I might Uber in for an early dinner.
I hope to take a lot of pics today

thanks for ideas on places to eat. I'll plot them on a map later today and see what is close. I have already picked a few out. Have to get my boudin, poorboy and gumbo. Though when I look at what goes into boudin, I think I may ask some questions first.
so many signs along the way advertising boudin and cracklings.
somehow this doesn't sound like heart healthy food...

NO, ahhh the memories.

When I was stationed at Keesler AFB, a Friday night, Sat trip to NO was common. I had a 65 Corvair so not a problem having 3 ridealongs to pay gas etc. good times

Fast forward more than a few years, I was stationed Ft Benning, GA. Sophie’s oldest brother was a ballroom dancer and was invited to a competition in NO during Mardi Gras. We decided to attend for support. Aaron, in 8th grade was not enthusiastic about the trip. We got a room edge of French Quarter. His enthusiasm took a sudden turn when walking the streets and looking up he discovered a number of young ladies treated the street to lifted shirts. An invaluable lesson as in later years if he seemed reluctant to join us for some activity we simply had to remind him of the unknown.

Every day is a day to learn. Today I learned new hard drives have larger sector sizes, and you can't (easily) clone drives with different sector sizes.
But did get my web server working again, seems a PHP update I did last week was causing Apache to not start.
One step forward, two back...

Chilly night tonight.
