good morning, 54 going to 66

The jack posts are set up and tightened. Also set up the rotating laser on the tripod for convenient measurement of progress. Plan is to rotate screws on the jacks half a turn per week. So will take a number of weeks to get to level.
Stacked some more wood taking care to lean in so the stack when drying does not tumble over.
Aired up the tires on the tractor. 28 psi front and 18 rear. Rotated the filled tires to the top but still had fluid coming out. Maybe because they were low in pressure pushing the fluid up higher.
Blew out the gauge by pushing the middle pin with a screw driver to drive the fluid out of the Milton gauge and air valve.

good morning all from Beaumont Texas
still 70 out here, going to be a warm day
and a warm day in Beaux Bridge Louisiana where I'm headed.
heading East on rt 10 past Lake Charles and then right into middle of
Louisiana's largest swamp, next to the tough to spell Atchafalaya River.

Happy Thanksgiving Bill. Glad you are still here. 90 and humid here today, could use a little of that cold wind out of the North.
but I see it's going down to 39 tonight at home in Eastern PA.
all this heat will soon be a memory for me when I hit chilly nights last week on the road.

taking my time this morning, only a three hour drive, I push my luck if I get to places before noon. Have a lot of blueberries to eat so breakfast will be blueberries on multigrain flax cereal. Need more fiber in me so those wonderful beef leftovers I have don't wind up clogging up the works.

stopping at HEB grocery store in Orange Texas not far East of here, then heading into a new state for me. Never been to Louisiana or NOLA
been doing research on what restaurant I can uber to lunch at in NO.
I want gumbo and a shrimp poorboy. Just need to be careful it's not too hot.
not doing French Quarter or tourist places though might get uber person to just drive through that area. In San Francisco uber guy showed up with large Toyota SUV, new and expensive. Will be interesting to see what shows up here.
I found a place fairly close to campground in downtown NO near the Lake.

I'll post a map or pic of New Orleans campground later today
as I plan my two days in NO.
my family was useless in suggesting places, I think Ken mentioned a few.
but no crowds for me. I have to take two uber rides. One to get to restaurant and one to get back. I could include a "check it out" spot on the way or way back.

Happy Monday everyone

sticky out, what a change to see all this humidity, folding chairs wet in the morning.
vs everything bone dry.

Ted, you ever walk out and find dew anywhere?

Good morning!!
60 this morning but the high is only going to be low 70s with lots of sun. And windy as cold front moves through. Probably the warmest day this week.
Productive day yesterday. Fortunately the Hy leak turned out to be a fitting that loosened up. Found that to be strange but I was happy. I now have about 40 tons (est) of rock sand and gravel from th And it will be windy as cold front moves through. e river for my bridge project. That is a lot of three legged butt puckering loads to get out of the river on a slight turning hill and then a couple hundred yards to dump and go back. I have no idea how many times I have done it but still get that feeling when you feel the weight shift and zero gravity.
Burned the crap out of my fingers when the temp wire for my 4 in 1 that is wired straight to the battery shorted. Really need to do a proper fix.
Gonna have to go to town today for Hyd. fluid and diesel. My steel lines are leaking on my Woods 1012. If anyone knows a reasonable source for these let me know please. In the mean time I will keep feeding it.
Lots of projects to do this winter on the tractor but I have a warm shop :)
Stay safe and have a great day!!

Good Morning TBN! 63˚F, wind is changing to the North but we will still be hitting the mid 90s this afternoon. Clear skies, no rain.

Working at the adventure farm this weekend went well. Shoulder was not a problem and the seat time with the nice families was enjoyable. Surprisingly the 101˚ record temps was not a problem for me, however it did thin the crowds out in the afternoon.

New this year is a Pumpkin RV for Drew.

Good Morning
It’s 52° and sunny, high of 60 and 30kt winds forecast, but no rain.

Yesterday was another day of progress on a lot of little details. Toilet is installed, there are no more remaining plumbing tasks. All the AV wiring and plates are done, just need to hang the TV’s. Continued rotating of sprinklers.

Today will be more of the same. Need to install the permanent hardware on all the casement windows and sliding doors. Tomorrow, I’ve got to take the turboprop for it’s acceptance flight with the buyers, Wednesday, I’ve got to go to Palm Beach, so I likely won’t be here when the inspector comes for his final inspection.
I’d also like to get the drain finished up on the plasma table, that’s gonna require a trip to HD or Lowe’s.

Good Morning to all who Celebrate! 56 going to a high of 58, partly cloudy and gusty. A smattering of rain on the truck this morning.

Friday after work, I took a load of firewood to one of my logging crew, understanding that his assistance and 400 C-M would be payment rather than cash. He was grateful to have ready-to-burn wood handy after last week's frost and I'm grateful to have assistance in tackling a bunch of dead red oaks. Win-Win.

The log splitter came out of its hole easily, wiped some residual moisture off of it and it fired right up after the second pull. Ran strong, split some leftover rounds that were deposited into the woodpile and enjoyed some sunshine before I threw the new cover over it. Now that I'm thinking of it, I need to make sure I strap it down...hopefully it's still there when I get home from work.

Snow-pusher was another story, couldn't get the nut lose with a wrench, so I'll try it with the impact later tonight.

Other than getting the snow-pusher set up, no real goals this week.

Enjoy the day y'all! Stay safe out there!

63 outside today and that might be the high.

If I have the energy, will hop on the mower.

This Covid stuff is like a light bulb, on...feel great...off...where is the bed. Oh well.

Lots to do and lots that require time management. Need to choose, wisely.

Hope all have a good holiday. In the US, of course.

Temps are currently dropping. High of 61° might have already happened.
Breezy out. Need to mow. Colder tomorrow. Back maple tree about bare already.
Buppies, hope you feel better.

I finally get Columbus Day off. One I used to have to work.

Morning all, 56 going to 65 cloudy, dry.
Spent the moving moving tree trunks around then watering.
Added 60+ gallons to the sprayer to do the sides of the shared road.
Ran sprinklers on the grass, but mostly to get water to the bushes and ground cover that's dying off.

Then on to the dog walk at peddlars village where they were having their oktoberfest. Really crowded, dog had a lot of fun with kids and other dogs.

Then off to a big fancy landscaping/cafe place called Terrain. Wife really liked shopping there.
They had pumpkins from $8 to $80 each!, we did not buy any though.

We found in a lot of Asia, Thailand, China, India, was cheaper to rent a car with a driver. Though we did a lot of trains and planes too. Some of the car trips were good to get the heart rate up.

Rip - we still put the air on recirculate in the car when we head up through North Jersey. Just remember the smells from the meat rendering plants there as a kid.

Still getting tomatoes in since it's been pretty warm (81 yesterday) they are all starting to ripen on the vine.

Happy Thanksgiving to our northern friends and columbus day here.

Drew - the old church in NO and the tabasco island are some great places. Drive through bourbon street so you can at least see the french quarter- they do have horse buggy rides.
Don't forget to get a Beignet, very NO doughnut.

Be well,

Adding to the stack of wood for slabs, or firewood. Getting to be a lot of these piles.
If it wasn't so dry we'd be running the firepit most nights.

Multiple Ompah bands on site. Here is the main stage at Peddlars village.
huge filed of bier gartens, food and kid stuff.

Some of the stuff I moved out
20241013_120545.jpg

So I can get a better view
20241013_181413.jpg

Still plenty of trees to fall and plenty of large branches and Ash trunks to move.
Seems like it will take a few more years to finish up there is so much stuff and I don't have a lot of time during the week.

Happy Thanksgiving from here in the Great, the best, nothing better, largest, superior White North.:giggle:
Stand by my decision to go cruising Saturday which was a beautiful sunny if cool day.
Sunday sucked. Barely got to 50, cloudy and spotty rain that became steady until this morning.
Today starting with showers, 40ish and wind.
Cloudy all day with high of maybe 50.
Furnace is on to stay for the rest of the week if not longer.
Just some housework until I go to the neighbors for some deer roast this afternoon for our Thanksgiving meal.
Enjoy your Columbus day south of the border.
I mean the longest, most peaceful, greatest border.

Well a good late morning to all;

Yesterday was a cool wet sour day and evening today is going to be more of the same.
Yesterdays high was 45F and down to 37F with an almost constant drizzle of rain with some heaver showers, today is more of the same. Currently 45F and lightly raining, calling for 32F tonight.
Going to be a slightly expensive day today, fuel oil truck supposed to come. Will be better then most years, my tractor usage has gone down and I'm going to try and get by with no additional tractor fuel and the house main tank is only going to take around 500 gallons according to my measuring stick.
So pretty much a lazy day of reading and maybe a bit of tire pricing, when I was using the Branson the other I noticed some cracks/ splits in the center of the tire. The sidewalls have had some cracks and checking for a few years but when the center of the tire starts to split like is was cut I guess it's time to start looking for a couple of tires. Been disappointed with these Titans that came on the tractor. The rears have been holding up fine and still look good but the fronts have not been as satisfactory.

Drew, Texas has always been a state of contrasts. I'd swear that West Texas you could get dust in a sealed Mason jar, then the high humidity of East Texas. I always preferred the dryer West Texas myself.

Well time to get going and maybe even do something halfway productive, maybe.

All stay safe and get well.

Good Morning!!!! 57 @ 8:30AM. Areas of fog early, then partly cloudy this afternoon. High 69F. Winds WNW at 10 to 20 mph.

Pretty quiet weekend here, with weather just on the warm side. Went out to a beach that has been closed most of the summer because "they" say the plover birds lay their eggs there. They do, but they lay their eggs all over the coast and those beaches aren't closed. The truth may be that the Vandenberg Space Force Base doesn't want people that close to them, and would close that beach permanently if they could. The weather was warm and sunny when we left home, but it was almost raining at the beach. Very thick fog, which quickly dampened our clothes and wet our glasses. I'd call it bracing and not at all uncomfortable. Lots of driftwood on the beach, and a lot of erosion, too, from all the high tides and winds.

Afterwards I took a look at my friend's wall oven to see if I could figure out why it wouldn't light. Pulled out the igniter and it looked fine, resistance was within normal limits. Same with the safety switch. That left the wiring between those two and the control board, but I ran out of time before I could figure out how to slide the oven out of the cabinet in which it rested. Maybe next visit.

Sunday we tried to patch our leaking bicycle tires, but couldn't get any of the patches to stick to the first tube. We found six pinholes from the burrs we'd run over, though, and dug out more pieces of burr from the tires. At that point we gave up and will order new tires for both bikes, along with new tubes with spares. Amazon refused to allow a return on the patch kit, but was OK issuing a refund. The poor performance of the kit has me wondering if the Kenda tube we were working on was even made of rubber. Have inner tubes changed since I last patched on fifteen years ago?

Substituted a long walk with the dog around the neighborhood for the bike, and that pretty much killed the weekend. Today I'll get started by ordering tires and tubes, then not sure what I'll get into.

Hope everyone's week gets off to a good start!

2 dead, at least 35 injured after chemical release reported at refinery in Deer Park, officials say
I don't know if you remember the ammonia leak accident in Houston May 11, 1976. It involved a tanker truck carrying anhydrous ammonia that crashed down on Southwest Freeway and killed 7 and injured 200
Wife was in her car on the way to an appointment and was just a few seconds away from the overpass that the truck crashed down from. Very lucky indeed

7°F and no rain

Fur boys and I glad to have Sophie home, she is too. Says I may have enjoyed the event more than her. A nephew and wife did a redux of marriage vows at the Mob Museum in Vegas. They had lots of younger friends in addition to family.

Making my Curry roaster kabucha soup for Happy Hour. Theme is anything coconut. My soup has coconut milk.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day
