Good morning! Ahh the old steam engines. Every time we went to the zoo in Houston we had to stop by the big old steam engine by the entrance.

Last evening was a very intense evening playing cards with the old codgers. It was very fast paced and you could tell this club has been going on for a decade. About 40 people showed uo. After the lessons Sunday I declared myself ready to compete with the group and with some luck in the drawing of the cards I won 4 of the 5 hands. (Each time you win you change tables and partners, twice I was at a table of 3 with no partner). They have quarterly winners the person with the most wins (not points) is the champion. This quarter is about half over so there is no way I can catch up but maybe next quarter I can give them a run.

68˚ 80% chance of rain, overcast the Fire Wise brush clearing has been canceled for this morning so off to the gym.

Good morning to all! Todays low was again at 42, going up to 68 today, clouds moving in, chance of a T-storm this afternoon. Unfortunately breezy to windy conditions will also move in. Temps will be dropping each day until reaching a high of only 50 on Friday. Might even have snow up on the mountains.

Pups are still doing OK, thats a good thing!

The train videos were great! Would be really cool to see them in person.

David, glad you're making some headway getting under the concrete. Good idea to " make a sleeve" for any future work. Good luck! Hopefully you didn't pick the spot that has a giant chunk of lava in your way!

The dealer told me if he didn't get the tractor shipped by Wednesday, he was already planning to deliver it himself with one of his mechanics. A good consolation prize...at least he's trying to do the right thing. Too bad that he can't rely on even "good shipping companies" and has to resort to doing it himself. I'll just have to wait and see what happens....

With that being said, I'm just making a list of small little projects to keep me occupied. All those little things that get pushed to the bottom of the list. It will be nice to get them done for sure...

Everyone have a great day! Prayers sent as usual.

56 going to 83, perfect morning that a bobwhite is proclaiming out in the front yard. Delightful day yesterday, too.

Great train pix, and videos. Glad the train stopped for you, CWB.

David, congrats on your pipe progress.

Don, happy you are having so many interesting and productive things to do at your new place. Hope Whipper is doing well and staying in the backyard.

Drove 450 miles RT to NC to pick up some items from my in-laws that my wife feels too valuable to let movers handle yesterday. One was a safe - so heavy I let my FEL unload it last night when I got home. That and a hand truck work miracles. My back doesn't even hurt this morning after 90 minutes of unloading. Still have to take some of it over to the apartment today.

Whipper has not jumped the fence since her last big adventure when the neighborhood was put on alert for a missing dog that led to her rescue. She lays in the house by the back door most of the time with interest of going out only when we go out. She walks us twice a day in a one mile loop around the neighborhood only stopping at the doggie station half way out to do her duty. She still does not get along with other dogs and is shy toward people. If there is a lawn mowing crew she has to go way around them.

Gray 2 has not left the yard for a few weeks since he jumped in the underground street gutter across the street. He must have seen trolls down under the road.

63/79 today, actually got down to 50 early. Got some work to finish up, then visit mom, pick up grandson from school and go to his baseball game.

Have a good day and prayers for y’all.

David, Thanks for the offer of the score sheet. the H&F card group has made up their own score sheets which are collected at the end of the 5 hands (two hours). They are geared for easy tabulation for ranking and they can print four on one sheet of paper. At the bottom it has # of wins and total number of points. Points only count if # of wins is tied.

The Games Club provides the automatic automatic 4 deck card shuffler, card holders, score pads refreshments and pretty table cloths tables to play on in the activities center all for $6 a year. What a deal!

Highlights of the neighborhood rules:
13 cards per hand 13 cards foot
red 3s set aside and another card drawn - count as +100 points or -100 if still in hand
50, 90, 120, 150, 150 points needed to lay down on the 5 hands of play per evening session
have to pick up 5 if picking up discards
winner is first one out of cards, not most points
Clean 500 points, dirty 300 points
meld = 7 cards

David your rules (looking at the score sheet) are closer to our individual neighborhood's women's H&F rules. Do you keep score on the computer? We do not have excel only numbers on Apple.

57°F and cloudy this morning, going up to 78° today. Chances for rain have diminished, but still might get a pop-up or two hear and there.

Thanks for the train pics, Claye. What a fantastic piece of machinery.

Good morning all,

First;

Loved the steam engine train pictures.

50 degrees this morning and raining just a little. While I usually welcome the rain......I'm not ready for it. I have lots of rocks to get out of my field before it grows to much. It's supposed to rain harder this afternoon until Thursday.

Prayers for those in need, have a nice day.

We had a great trip to the Oregon coast (Rockaway Beach, south of Cannon Beach about 30 minutes).. Great weather and had lots of fun, walked alot, laughed, played games. Good to relax.. Welcome back to real world, got a text on way home (8.5 hours drive with a quick stop for lunch and gas) about a loan, then got email from trust. Without going into details, suffice to say that the calm of the vacation ended..

We had played a dice game with my wife's brother a few years ago, but could not remember the details.. Turns out it is called Farkle and with 4 of us, turned out to be a lively game. Wife's cousin came from behind to win with her final turn netting her 7600 points (we were playing to 10,000). I think we will add that game to our family camping games.

Good to catch up, stay safe.
