Good Morning!!!! 47F @ 5:30AM. Rain and wind. High 48F. Winds SE at 20 to 30 mph. Chance of rain 100%. 1 to 2 inches of rain expected. Localized flooding is expected.
"Only" picked up an inch and a half of rain yesterday, but it was pretty windy, especially last night. A couple 40 mph gusts kept me awake. Weatherman, a kind of new guy that usta just be on weekends, last night predicted 10-12" for this area over the next few days. Sure hope he's wrong.
Bill, I think I'd start limbing that tree at the very top, trying to get as much weight off the trunk as possible, and shortening the trunk as I went. I like to cut off small pieces that won't hurt too much if I'm not quick enough to get out of the way.
That sounds like a good recipe for those Costco chickens, David! I love ginger, but had to remind myself about turmeric's wonderful color. Sounds delicious. Last one I did in the Instant Pot wasn't so instant; I like what happens to the chicken overnight in slow cook mode. I substituted two bottles of Guinness Stout for the water, added some smoked sea salt, and left out the vegetables. That black chicken soup was good, too.
Glad the doc didn't find anything too wrong with the BP, Kyle, but hope they figure out what's going on soon. Could it be stress? If so, I'd prescribe more seat time.
Grabbed the bent shifter fork in the jaws of a 15" adjustable wrench and gave it a little tweak to bring it back into alignment yesterday. I was surprised and more than a little disappointed how little force it took. I have a more robust aftermarket set of linkage on order, but the company that makes it has a miserable reputation for slow response and poor communication, so there's no telling when it will show up. :confused2:
Also re-mounted the wind deflector to the top of the big touring bike's windscreen yesterday, from where the ScotchLoc let go somewhere north of the ton on that Christmas ride. This time it went on with stainless steel screws and Delrin spacers to protect the plastic.
I have a little winch from Harbor Freight mounted to the lift table to help me roll bikes up the ramp, especially when going back wheel first. I went to use it last week and it will no longer reel in the wire rope; broken just sitting there. Today I'll try to take the control box apart and find a broken piece, but more than likely I'll just end up buying another one. At fifty bux all in, it's not worth a big effort to fix. Before the winch broke, I was going to remove the steering head bearings from that bike and repack them with low temperature grease. I made the mistake of using boat axle grease, and learned last winter that it stiffens in the cold temperatures and acts like a too strong steering damper. That means a lot of overcorrecting until I figured out what was going on, a problem that mysteriously corrected itself once I got to warm Death Valley, then reappeared again on the Christmas ride.
