Good Morning!

God has given us another chance to get it right (or at least not screw up too badly).

47.7F going to upper 60’s, partly sunny with showers tonight into tomorrow (or so the weather guessers say…)

Looking forward to having new Armstrong Power Drills in the toolbox 😁

Today will be another woodlot day, picking up and other trailer-load of firewood and having Mrs on the splitter while I mill some more boards for the cabin shed. I also need to mill a couple posts for the carport project, depending on when Mrs says she has had enough I might try to pour a footing or two for those posts.

then concert tonight at the Performing Arts Center - Pam Tillis (daughter of Mel Tillis) singing and storytelling.

Happy Friday the Thirteenth!

Supposedly we will have another partial eclipse visible here in Appalachia Tomorrow…

I hope everyone has a happy healthy safe cautious blessed day!

Good Morning!!!! 61F @ 4:45AM. Sunshine early followed by cloudy skies this afternoon. High 77F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph.

Sorry to hear about the truck, Buppies. You're more than due for a change in luck.

Lots of gauges, Paul. I'm glad you know how to read them 'cause they make no sense to me!

Never seen a wrench like the one on the left side of that cup, Ron. How's it work?

Friday the thirteenth. Never had much bad luck on these days, but more than made up for it on the twelfth and fourteenth.

Interesting trip to DMV yesterday to get the new-to-me trailer registered. I didn't make an appointment, and there was a longish line. In front of me stood a short, wiry woman, who from her obviously protruding lips had no teeth, and who looked quite old, an observation supported by a shock of white hair, a side burn, in an otherwise henna dyed do. Other than the protruding lips, the other unusual sign was that the poor thing just couldn't stand still. Rocking from side to side, turning her whole body this way and that, a weird look in her eyes, pretty much nailed her as a tweaker (meth) user. I stood way back. DMV clerk approved my paperwork, which included the original Montana title signed off to the next owner, a bill of sale to the next owner after that, and another bill of sale to me. She charged me $219 registration and sales tax, and issued me a temporary registration. I have to bring the trailer in for a VIN verification, but I have six months to do it.

When I got home I found several packages at the gate, including two large cardboard boxes. One held a pair of Mallory squeegees with four foot handles from Grainger. The box they came in measured at least 2'x3' 6", and weighed more than the squeegees. I'll keep one at home and the other one in the new van so I can reach the top of the windshield at any gas station along the way. The other huge box held the slush mat that was part of the deal on the van, purchased way back in June. Better late than never?

The rest of the errands pretty much shot the day, but I did enjoy the ride in the new Camry. At 35 MPG average it ain't no Prius, but it beats the heck out of 17 in the new van. It'll get a bath today, and I'll use the hardware from yesterday's deliveries to mount some tie down anchors on the trailer floor. Then maybe get the weight distributing hitch installed, and weld the safety chains back on. It would be nice to use it next week for another trip down south.

TGIF gang!

Morning all, 43 going up to 65 , sun is up
Spent most of yesterday sleeping, so not much done.

Gas $4.19 mid grade, so down about 0.30 from last week

The squirrels are up in the hickory dropping the nuts and we have empty shells all over the driveway. They seem to know if they hit the driveway from so far up they will crack.
The black walnuts in the yard usually sit there for a while before disappearing, what a racket when I hit one with the mower.

Sorry about the truck Buppies

PJ - I liked Minneapolis and still talk to former coworkers who live there. Did the blues clubs and the human habitrail when I was there one February. So cold, one day it got to 32 and people were wandering outside it was so warm

Happy anniversary Ron!

Be well,

Lots going on in the TBN world. My dad has some of those hand powered drills, used to use them as a kid. Speaking of which, I was very young when Ron got married on 10/13/1962....
Son of a friend I used to work with now lives and works in Minneapolis. Works for Target Corporate.
Last sunny day before rain, so I need to finish the last 6 ft of pipe in the hole and turn it up to the house so I can backfill. Should go put the battery charger on the tractor now.
Was just so nice at the lot yesterday, wish I had more time to enjoy. The trees are turning. A pretty maple right behind where I want to put the cabin. Will have to do some land leveling though. There is a bench, about 20 ft wide there, but not wide enough for the cabin. Ideally would like enough room to drive behind it before the hill starts. Hit quite a few walnuts mowing down near the incoming road. Should have went in and cut some grape vines, they are killing some of the walnut trees.

Just loaded up two logs to bring to (yeah, I know…) the woodlot so I can add them to the milling pile
IMG_4624.jpeg

They were the two logs that were preventing me from making the turn with the truck if the trailer was attached. Nice to be able to do that without detaching and dragging the trailer!

IMG_4625.jpeg

And being the two largest-diameter logs, they took up a good amount of space, as can be seen from the damp spot. Shop crane is a helpful handy item for many purposes!

Good morning. Low of 33° (forecasted for first freeze last night.... missed by a couple degrees). High today around 63°, sunny.

Yesterday was a shelter inside day.... 25-35 mph wind, highest gust was 48mph. Just miserable....
The wind affected the International Balloon Fiesta too -- all events cancelled all day.

The addition is moving along, albeit very slowly. Need to give the knee frequent breaks. Yesterday's "break" due to the wind alleviated the complaints.... at least temporarily.

Buppies, hope you're ok.

Everyone seems really busy.... hard to keep up.

Everyone have a great day and start to the weekend!

Good Morning Again,

Ron, nice bird picture, but more importantly, happy anniversary to you and the Mrs ! I believe I was 11 in 1962, so yes that is a long time. Quite a milestone ! My parents made it to 71 years of marriage before my Mom passed ! Enjoy your day !

Buppies, sorry to hear about your unfortunate accident ! Glad you were not hurt badly !

Earlier this morning I said that we were getting a new garage refrigerator delivered ! Well it is Friday the 13th, so the appliance outfit calls and said they are down a driver, so no delivery until next Tuesday !

Kilroy, some nice looking logs there !

Well maybe we can get the grass mowed today !

All have a great day !

Buckeye, looks like you are enjoying mowing your beautiful place on a beautiful day.

Frits, I shared that remarkable video with two ladies.
One was my stepbrother's wife who is Swedish, and the other my landlady, who goes back to Sweden every year for a month.
The younger relative had never heard of the story and loved it, my landlady said she was a young girl and had heard of the
rescue. I'm amazed no one has made a movie of it. 500 boats in the middle of the night rescuing almost all the Jews from Denmark?
what a story.

I'm going to tiptoe through the political tulips here and say that events of today
have such enormous history behind them.

Have you ever thought about using the slope to do an earth sheltered or semi sheltered home or at least a well bermed back side.

69°F and .14 inches rain, welcome improvement.

Just as I was about to walk out to the tractor shed yesterday both Kekoa and Makani started heck of a ruckus up at the gate. I walked around to see and there is a car with 2 people waving. I go up and find 2 former neighbor friends, Dave and Gerald, we haven’t seen since Kekoa was a puppy. When they sold both houses here they moved to Vegas. Since then they have lived in Costa Rica, back to Vegas, bought and sold another house here in the Volcano area, back to Vegas, North Carolina, back to Vegas and now contemplating relocating to Portugal. They were here on a cruise ship enroute to Tahiti. Their 8th cruise this year. It was fun to catchup.
I did get to mow after lunch and finished Laupāhoehoe end. Today I can at least start Hilo end.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

60F and sunny with a light wind out of the southeast. Heading up to around 64F today. Tonight the rains will usher in a period of cooler temps, with highs only in the low to mid 50's. Not to worry though: more highs in the 60's are on the way after that.

Local weatherman says we can expect peak color in the next 1 -2 weeks.

Dropped Woman's car off first thing yesterday and stopped at the corner gas station for fuel while we were out.

Amazon delivered off the 20-pak of suet, Jaco air pressure gauge, and the Square D pressure switch.

Then we worked on strawberry plants in pots when we got back. Got the rest of them trimmed, weeded, watered, and put up on the shelves. Had to repot a few. Final count was 135 plants. They'll be liking the sun out there today.

No further intrusions into the garden area since I sprayed and rebuilt the monofilament fence.

Woman went in and threw a couple of baked potatoes in the oven while I was finishing up.

Once I had gotten done, I came around and fired up some coals in the grill and grilled a couple of ribeyes She had picked up on sale:

Those ended up being very tasty ... (y)

She's been out there this morning the flower bed.

I just finished doling out meds for this coming week.

Probably head outside here in a few and start working on the strawberry plants that are planted in the ground.

Hope everyone is having a decent Friday ... (y)
