I'm so far behind. It's been busy at work and home. Hope I didn't miss any major news.

I did sit down to watch the Astros win it all last night. Phillies have some awesome hitters and pitching. They'll be back.

Hey Kyle……I am learning getting a good start on a J&M Kawasaki with 100 HP is a lot trickier than getting a good start on Trackmaster Triumph with 60 HP. I am still learning the secret hand shake.

Rich, that should be plenty of horsepower to get around a track... Wish you well. Did you see the post by JD Beach about the yamaha teams being snubbed in the pits? I'm glad I wasn't at the race that Mees grabbed his helmet and shook him....I would've been over the fence....and it takes a lot to get me mad.

RNG, I try to find vehicles with about 80-90K on them that are cheeep. The guy is right about being able to work on those 2000-2005,6,7 type cars. Simpler and parts are cheaper for the American cars because of aftermarket. You already know about having the very rare vehicle and keeping it going.

It's been a Weak "Battery Week". Started with the old Gator, that was cheap. But then the car started throwing codes and had a time when it barely started. The car takes TWO batteries. A big AGM in the front, and a smaller AUX12 AGM in the back which covers for the Auto Stop engine....which I hate. Then the Yukon wouldn't start, another AGM battery...so about $550 batteries in a couple of weeks.

Tried to put a new capacitor in a non working hunter ceiling fan. Didn't work. Time for a new fan. I think the old fan is only 3-4 years old, but can't find rec't yet.

I might go to the church to work on the youth building's doors. Both have problems with the lock strikers matching

Took my son to the new Bush Combat Development Complex's open house. A handful of dignitaries were there. Good for my son to see stuff like that. I wonder how they will keep spies out of there. They say it will be one of the most secure places in the world..

Been good day...took back pack blower for hike longer than plan,was hoping today would been last day of leaf clean up but not to be darn oaks.
I can smell dinner almost done plan on watching last 30 or so laps NASCAR,than KC vs Titans hope to make it to half time.

Good (Monday) morning. An overnight Low of 11C with a predicted High of 24C... it's presently 20.4C, clear with a steady breeze and no rain.

Apparently today is a State "Recreation Day" holiday. When you're retired, these types of days sure do surprise you when they occur.

It's dhobi-day and I may get in some recreational house cleaning.

55F and clear @ 20:30, heading down to around 48F in the overnight for the low. High hit 71.2F here today with mixed sun and clouds.

Got insurance bill scheduled for payment first thing this morning.

Otherwise a change of pace for today:

Took box blade off and stuck on PHD on the Kubota with the 2' auger and got four planting holes drilled.

Tulip, Red Maple, and the Japanese Flowering Cherry "Kwanzan" trees all planted and well watered in, also one of the (two) Dwarf Burning Bushes. Will do the other one tomorrow probably after going in for my flu shot.

Stuck three t-posts in around two of the trees, which will hopefully keep the deer off of them until we can get them properly protected tomorrow.

Noticed while putting on the PHD hopper feeder was already empty again. So will need to refill that tomorrow as well.

When I went up to get the second bucketload of screened compost these two were up there:

He let me get to within about 20' of him before he turned around and headed for the neighbor's woods.

He didn't go too far though ... seemed pretty reluctant to leave his doe behind:

My question: have anyone here that have lived all their life in Texas ever had a really, really close call with a tornado?

I was in Houston and a front moved in it got real dark and windy, I pulled into a parking lot my car shook and rocked real hard and half of the windows were pelted with roof gravel, from the parking lots building, and were knocked out. People thought I was the result of a drive by shooting when they saw my car.

Another one came next to our condo in Houston and tore out the tennis court fences and up-rooted some trees in the adjacent park.

Both incident were on TV as verified tornadoes, probably F-1s.

Have never had any home damage.

Just last week the card games were abruptly stopped when the tornado sirens went off and everyone had to get to the interior of the building next to the tornado shelter signs. But the tornado touched down about 7 miles away.

What is people thoughts on Long term care insurance? I can get it now, but cost is 200-300 month for $200 per day coverage for 3 yrs. so if I pay for 20 yrs I would have paid 1/3 of the benefit amount. And then there are stipulation and approvals required before they pay. The diference in cost is 2 different inflation adjustment options.

Good evening all. 52ºF for the start, clear sky, light breeze. light to moderate wind, partly cloudy sky, and high temp was 77ºF. Chapel to start the day, made pancakes for breakfast. Updated clock time and delivered meals in morning. After lunch energy conservation and nap in afternoon. Dinner at stepdaughter's house. Today was wife's birthday.
Randy(wag) glad church went well. There is an Anglican church that fits much the same description in town. Tornadoes were not close, no were the winds bad, not a lot of branches down. Enjoy the parade commander post.

Don good to hear yesterday was nice for work. 12.13v sounds low, full charge on lead-acid battery is 12.7. Auto0start-stop is not working, not much of issue as still getting 23+mpg. Friend was having trouble with Dodge truck, replaced battery and all is well.
Paul glad tip to NH went well. Hope today gets the electrical and oil filter sorted out.

Ted been closer to tornado in Missouri than here, KS and OK get their share as well. Two close encounters 1st was rain shrouded, not sure how close but was close. #2 was within 2 miles at church, was able to find track of tornado to establish distance. Good luck with MIL during her stay.

Poured first cup of coffee. 44° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 53° with lots of sun. Visit with son and family went well. Still have low voltage at house. No estimate on when it will be repaired. Did not see a single repair truck out during my drive to and from my place. They must all be down in Florida getting power back to homes down there. Other are getting messages that they will get full power back by late Wednesday. There are leaves piled up in places around house and buildings. Will get blower out and clean that up today.

Looking, I have a La Crosse weather station. Has worked good for 5 years.

Was up a few hours ago (head call and a cigarette). Boy, a hard rain coming down!!
Appears to be over now...

Didn't accomplish much Sunday...at least as far as my planned chores. I did work on a project for my job. Also, gave most of the lawn a nice trim and blew a lot of leaves into the wooded areas bordering the lawn. Looks much better now. Then I got real low on gas, so I stopped.

Back to my real job today, still working remotely

Wife and stepdaughter enjoying their visit. Stepdaughter had her first chance to shoot an AR-15...nervous at first, OK after a couple of rounds. I'll get a more in-depth report when they get home on Wednesday

I was listening to the local weatherman this morning and he said a rocket was about to launch at 5:32am from Wallops Island (next to Chincoteague, VA) and we might be able to see it in the east. It was said to be resupplying the space station.

In a very dark sky, I saw an enormous red glow launching to the heavens. Eventually the red glow grew weak, and I thought it was over when, what I guess was reentry of the bottom section lit up like an atomic explosion. I wish I had been filming, but I'm sure I'll find a video. I did grab my phone and take a few pix of the continuing glowing clouds. This was before sunrise/dawn so I was surprised how bright it was. I've never seen any celestial event close to this, other than one aurora borealis.
