Drinking first cup of coffee. 33° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 60° with partly cloudy skies. Got weekly grocery shopping done yesterday. Turned in my absentee ballot. Garden pond got cleaned up. Son brought his travel trailer over and set it up for winter storage. Neighbor got my Trak-Vac out and picked up all the leaves in my back yard. We have a deal. He can use my Trak-Vac on his yard if he picks up my leaves and dumps them at his place. I do not like the dumping part of using Track-Vac.
Squirrels have decided it does not work climbing poles with baffles on them to get at bird feeders.

43 going to 59.

RNG, based on the condition of the deer, it became vulture and other critter food.

BEF, congrats on your land purchase.

We had our trip on the Alleghany Special yesterday...we were on the train that went southwest to Goshen through Buffalo Gap. It was a brilliant day, and a lot of fun. BEF, I had the same meal as you...was delicious...catered by Lil Gus's in Grottoes...I'll definitely stop there whenever driving through. PJ, we rode by a beautiful building that the guide said had been a large organ building company...I didn't catch the name, but is in western Augusta County...searched for half an hour on the internet, but couldn't find anything about it. Then we walked around Staunton, which is a well restored old city in the Shenandoah Valley. Spent some time in the Black Friars Shakespeake theatre, and reading history exhibits in the City Hall.

29° right now...high in the mid-50's and clear...

It's my "work from home" day. Don't think there's too much going on (no webinars or meetings).
We made it through both a systems and customer audit...good for another couple years

good morning all
cooler morning, 39 going up to around 60 today.
Ron's pics are the best!

Alien, yes for cherry juice, I mix sour cherry juice in with some other juice. Keep a bottle in the fridge all times. It works.

for you walkers and hikers:
Great Smoky Mountains National Park has closed some trails and visitors centers as a large concentration of black bears is feeding on acorns in the area.

bears are out, getting fat before winter. national parks suggest they do not dine on us...and be very careful.

I keep giving my good local apples away as house presents, need to go buy more today.
Off this afternoon driving Miss Daisy, taking 93year old MIL to supermarket. She threatened to drive herself, I offered and well
she accepted.

Will get my car washed while I'm in Doylestown. They have a carwash there I've been going to almost all my life.
Same guy working there, we joked awhile back about how many cars he has washed in all these years. He came up with the number 900,000 so
I guess he had thought about it also. I jokingly asked if he had washed a million cars yet, and he came back fairly quickly, not quite. Nice guy, don't know his name
after all these years, guess I should ask. Very small drive through carwash. Basic wash 7 bucks. All the wax, 14. That's the one I get. I usually wash car myself but
this is like an ice cream cone, a treat.

Cumru Township, Pennsylvania, United States :: Mostly Cloudy 2.5C/36.4F (Humidity: 82%)
Feels like: -0.3C/31.4F | Wind: 6.09mph/9.8kph NE
Wind gust: 11.15mph/17.9kph
Friday: Overcast throughout the day. High 13.7C/56.7F. Low 0.3C/32.5F.
Saturday: Clear throughout the day. High 15.1C/59.1F. Low 0.3C/32.5F.

Good morning and happy friday!

Was a bit shocked at the temperature when I woke up. Finally feeling like fall with the cool overnights.

Want to clean the garage up today so I can get my excursion in so I can look at the sticky caliper and get that free'd up. All 3 of my vehicles need something or other that they've developed in the past 2 years, but I simply didn't need to drive them so it wasn't a priority, I just took my wife's car.

Excursion's wheel was smoking, so I limped it home and said I'll deal with it when I get a chance. The jaguar blew a coolant line under the supercharger, so I limped it home and said I'll deal with it when I get a chance. The hummer blew a power steering line, so I limped it home and said I'll deal with it when I get a chance. I fixed the hummer's power steering lines, but then when I pulled it out I blew a brake line, and the distribution block is under the truck on the frame rale in a nightmare position, so I'll deal with it when I get a chance.

Well, now I think I'll make some time to deal with them. For now, though, I'll drink my v8 and coffee, and eat my 3 egg omelet from my chickens.

it's my first rubber duckie in a very long time
now if I told you I gave a second identical rubber duckie to my brother for his
dog to use as a chew toy, now that would be politics, so I won't. ;)

Now if I can find a little tractor floatie...Don, you find stuff better than anyone, still want that mermaid...
gosh, I could recreate all my past tractors and have them float around with me. Disc harrow is a must
to calm the waves. Big Massey can take that one. Small Massey can drag the white cleaner float around.
Farmall can slowly pull the chemical float.

oh to be a kid again. 🧜‍♀️

I never ever take baths. This is a new experience for me, well not new since I've had a hot tub a long time.
Never in a basement though.
changed the filter for the first time last night. Old one a little yellowed, pretty sure mostly from bromine, and easily screwed in another.
They are cheap and come in four packs, I stocked up. I also shocked the water since chemical levels had gotten low. Which made me check floating
chemical injector and sure enough the bromine cartridge was empty. New one going in today.

Fatjay, what year Jag? I had the pleasure of a 2004 XJR for a year, with that supercharged V8. Marvelous motor.

Good Morning.
It’s 39 with a high in the middle 50’s on tap. Clear skies, mild winds.

Yesterday was a huge waste of my resources, both time and money. I drove to the airport about an hour away, flew to Allentown to meet the FAA inspector, a new one for me. We did the oral exam and paperwork, and briefed the proposed flight. Got in the airplane, got our clearance, started the engines and he gets a call from his manager. Turns out he isn’t qualified to do the checkride. Shut down the engines, he starts working on a plan b. I end up sitting around the airport for 4 hours while they try to locate someone to do the ride. Finally they decide that I need to come back Tuesday. So I pay my $211 landing and ramp fees and head back to Philly for the hour drive home.
I couldn’t help but point out that at the airline across the runway, I could have gone to FL for less than it cost me to sit in one of their chairs. Not to mention the operational cost of the plane which was close to ten times that. And of course, there is no way that the FAA would cover any of those costs. The real problem is that I am numb to this sort of thing because it happens all the time in this business. But it does annoy me on some level.

But when I got home I was productive, got all the trash and recycling from the wedding down in one trip with the Carryall. A toter hanging on each side and the bed full, but it did it.

Next project was to connect a foot controlled, pneumatic powered hydraulic pump to the hydraulic press. It worked out pretty well, but I’ve got to go to the hydraulic shop this morning to get some more fittings to put a reassure gauge in the line, and maybe get a longer hose 1/4” instead of the 3/8” that I used because I had it it here.

Not much else planned, but I’m guessing I’ll stay busy.

Good morning, 40 high of 52 a little cloudy today

The day is clear of things that we have to do so I am not sure what I will tackle today. Wife keeps buying bulbs and plants for fall plantings that needs to be planted. It looks good to her in the ads so she goes a little overboard and it flows downhill to me to plant.

Instead of bringing down fill dirt for the area where the firewood shed goes I decided to rework the sloped area to level it into a flat area big enough for the shed and see if I can make some swales on the upsides to channel water away. It is 2 ft low at the end and to one side of the area.

The Sprinter is due for an oil change so will have to check to see if I have oil filter and fuel filter. I think I have oil for the engine and transmission on hand. I don't drive the F350 much these days but will use it next time we go someplace to keep it exercised. Keeping it in the barn keeps rust from developing on the brake rotors though. I think another round of brake fluid changes are in order to keep moisture out of the systems. The F350 is a beast for trailer towing.

You may want to inspect the rest of the brake lines for corrosion. I used copper nickel alloy lines for replacements to protect from salt corrosion

Morning all, 40 going up to 58, still a bit worn out.
Tried napping yesterday, unsuccessfully.

Only good from yesterday was Drew dropping off the fantastic PopGadet pulled pork and some apples. Apple was my breakfast this morning.

Alien - Diesel is almost as much by me. Hope the gout resolves quick.

BEF - Property official - congratulations, hope the neighbor issues fall by the wayside

Paul - I dealt with the FAA for a little over 3 years, gotta laugh at the antics. Though a comedy club would have been less expensive and taken less time :-(

I didn't plant any more bulbs, after loosing so many in the Dec/Jan warm spell last year, Most of them sprouted and grew a few inches, then a frost hit, all that work down the tube.

off to meetings and if I have enough energy, will walk the littlewonder blower up/down the driveway.

36F and clear @ 08:45, heading up to a high of around 59F for the day.

Ten Day still shows high temps in the 60's and 70's through Sunday November 6th ... (y)

Got hopper feeder and two suet feeders filled first thing yesterday.

Got the four rolls of plastic and the two exterior lights moved over to the barn from the van.

Then checked to see about working on that back gutter, no dice - ground still too wet from the rain. So I blew off all the leaves next to the building so the ground could dry up. Tomorrow is supposed to be even nicer (sunny with a high of 66F) than today ... so will probably give it one more day to dry up.

While I was doing that The Woman came over and joined me.

We ended up working inside the barn for the rest of the afternoon until evening (around 18:45), temp was dropping pretty good by that point - down into the high 40's - and the light was fading so we called it a day.

Mostly more clean up and organizing.

Explained that in this current situation floorspace is at a premium (to be able to maneuver equipment inside the barn) ... so things need to be stowed as efficiently as possible. Like storing stuff under the tables where possible, rather than having them taking up additional floorspace.

Really glad that we went with the larger barn size, having the additional depth (42' vs. 30') makes it possible to be able to turn the Kubota around inside without too much difficulty, even with a load on the forks.

I did unpack both the exterior lights to get a look at them and even plugged in the wires on the smaller one to see how it bright it was. Still need to measure the mountings to see what size junction boxes are needed.

Got the pallet that had the supplies on it that The Woman had cleaned off mostly cleared off and loaded the rolls of plastic for the ceiling vapor barrier onto it.

Filled up the bucket on the Kubota with various items that are destined for other places, will need to get that unloaded later this morning.

Agenda for the rest of the day:

Maybe a run down to Menards in Massillon this morning while it's warming up, to pick up a couple of PVC electrical boxes for the lights and another live trap. Current live trap is getting really beat up as critters struggle to escape.

See about getting that south overhead door closed (it's jammed)

Put forks on Kubota and move one of the two pallets of 2 x 4's into the barn.

Fix door frame on south wall.

More clean up/work inside.

Plus whatever else comes up.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe Friday ... (y)

Good Morning!!!! 52F @ 5:30AM.
A mix of clouds and sun early followed by cloudy skies this afternoon. High 72F. Winds light and variable.

I guess it's over my head how a rubber duck is political, Drew. Ignorance is bliss?

I know how you feel about vehicle repairs, FJ. But winter's comin', and better to crawl around under a vehicle now than in the mud and snow later...

People rise to the level of their incompetence, Paul. The problem is that's acceptable these days.

Check ride on the big touring bike into town went mostly smooth yesterday, with just one audio cable needing some attention when I got home. Was a little rushed packing when I got back, so have a thing or two more to add, but other than that the gang's all here and we'll be on our way west to the coast in a few hours. Cool and moist over there this weekend, but no outright rain predicted. Good weather for leather and heavy nylon riding clothes, but still summer weight gloves with a little warmth from the handlebar heaters.

Yesterday's chili dinner was well received, and cleanup was super easy. We'll start the day with scrambled eggs, chili on the side for anyone that wants it. Might be a while before I'm back on here, as internet access is pretty poor over there.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

RS, great post. someone be deprived of the very air they breathe

You really had to be there to appreciate it.

Seems funny now ... but it wasn't at the time ... ;)

lot of leaves....you have a tracvac?

Sure do ... but more importantly, we have The Cub Cadet.

At this point I'm just chopping them up and blowing them off the lawn with that.

It's easier ... and whatever little bit remains is chopped up finely enough to serve as a soil amendment ... without killing the grass.

Enjoy the new water toy ... ;)
