Good morning!!!!

Never thought I壇 enjoy a cruise, actively resisted even. But a few years ago, wife was able to convince me to do the Panama Canal Cruise. Big boat, Holland America and I was convinced it would be just too crowded and not enjoyable. I was wrong. We went with another couple, good friends. Didn稚 find it crowed at all and definitely not bored. Had a great time.
During that time period, my BIL decided to get a small group together for a Danube River Cruise. Again I was less than excited. Having lived 6 years in Germany I didn稚 see a draw of cruise down the river, but I reluctantantly agreed and signed up for the next year. Again, I was wrong. The smaller ship, AMASerena was great and the river cruise was a very different perspective.
Next Jun we are taking our son and family on the 7 night Alaska cruise.

Ellen has been on the Alaska cruise, so have several friends of mine, they claimed to have loved it.

I watched a program on that sink hole only last week, when it was too hot to feel like doing anything useful.

Did you see the "fix" ? Once the cars were recovered, they threw a few tin sheets over the soft spots at the bottom of the hole, topped up with gravel and built back on top  . Tread lightly Randy :)

Maybe I will just peep through the window!

Another hot and humid day, storms later, then a bit cooler.

Buppies, doggon it! Good luck
my friend, prayers for you, and all the rest.

Good morning! mid 70's in the morning and we started hitting the string of 100s days a day early yesterday. Hot the rest of the week and the air is blurry from the African dust. In other words except for the time before sunrise and after sunset it's miserable.

I agree with Drew, when cruising a balcony room makes it very enjoyable. Some people say they will just get an inside cabin and stay outside all the time except for when they sleep, but it very relaxing to watch the blue water and an occasional flying fish while sitting on the balcony. The other option is to drive for many hours spending most of the time behind a wheel fighting traffic and being glad to get home to relax. When your food and lodging and transportation and entertainment are within walking distance and excursions on different islands during the day (except the sea travel days).

Here at "Sun City" we now have a 4 hour bus ride that will take our group to the dock so no driving at all, and the bus fee is the same as the parking fee. No more fighting the traffic driving through Houston. - It just get's better and better.

I have gotten sea sick once when on a small boat traveling from an Island to the mainland for a shore excursion. I can remember looking over the side of the small boat and seeing nothing but water and the next moment nothing but sky. It lasted a day but after loading up with ginger tea on the ship it went away in a day.

We go about once a year from either Galveston or Florida and have visited most of the islands in the Eastern and Western Caribbean. We are about ready for an Alaskan Cruise in the middle of the summer to escape the 100's. We go on the mega cruises and have learned a few tricks to minimize the crowding issues at the beginning of the cruise. For a fee you can buy express checking-in on some ships, well worth it. Once the Cruise starts you sometimes wonder where all the people are. Drew has good advise about Disney and Carnival and I would add try to take the cruise in the Winter when there are no hurricanes. Once you get South it's 80s and 90s, a nice break from the cold for a week.

Had another 1/2" of rain yesterday (lured the clouds with the welder this time ;)). Magic rain, already the fields are turning from golden brown back to green.

Good luck with matters-of-the-heart balance sheets. I try hard (sometimes), yet always seem to end up in deficit :confused3:

Kyle, I've heard that roasting marshmellows over a fire is something of a tradition on camps.
If swans are so rare where you live, is there another camp fire tradition that's not talked about so much ?

LOL, no campfires as of yet. I can't believe the area is not under burn ban conditions. There are hundreds of kids here. Dining hall is quite a noisy spectacle. The counselors are college students, and are very motivated.

Buppies, prayers coming your way.

Ron, we are still holding out for the 8 qt model. There's 5 of us, and I love leftovers that aren't too old. My wife says I'm a human disposal....I just don't like running the oven in the summer. So I warm up leftovers in the microwave.

I致e thought about that, even doing a Mississippi/Missouri River Cruise just to see how it is, before going to Europe. Travel outside the continent doesn稚 really appeal to me anymore.

If you are serious about an American cruise, check out the one on the Columbia River...saw a brochure and looks beautiful. I didn't take the cruise there, but drove and hiked along part of it and loved it. Good coffee in Portland, too.

Good morning to all! Low of 58, up to 90 today. Rain chances are only 20% today, then a "dry spell" for the next 5 days.... We didn't get any more than 0.1 over the last 4 days. Surrounding areas got 1 1/2 to 2 1/2". They also had flash flooding though.

Buppies, sorry to hear about the biopsy results, my thoughts and extra prayers out to you, take care.

Never went on a cruise... Probably won't ever get the chance to do one. Don't really know if I want to, wifey definitely does not.

We have an area here in NM called "Bosque del Apache" which is a national wildlife refuge for many migratory birds. Each year there are thousands and thousands of geese, swans, and storks, that stop along there migratory route to rest and refuel. The ground is covered with birds as far as you can see. An amazing sight when hundreds start to take flight at a time. They fly around the area, breaking up into smaller groups, then leave.

Everyone have a great day, prayers sent.

Gotta hide this cruise talk from the wife. She has been wanting to do one for a long time. Me, not that interested, except alaska.

72°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 90° today. Back into the upper 80s after today.

Got my new electronic drum monitor system set up last night. I've had that kit for about seven or eight years now, and have never enjoyed playing it as much I did last night. Sounds great, and the stereo separation makes it a more natural experience. Turned it up to about half, and it was already almost too loud. Nice.

Now that was funny Bird. I've never been, but have friends that love it. They haven't been on one of the vomit comet cruises yet, where everybody gets sick, or the boat breaks and lulls about in the middle of the ocean...

That's kind of my take on the whole cruise thing. Really not interested in spending a week in a floating petri dish. Seems like 90% or better of the cases of Legionaire's Disease that I hear about on the news are associated with cruise ships. No thanks.
