Some tools are of sentimental value to me because having been with me for a long time. One of those is this 6 inch Bahco adjustable wrench that was given to me at 15 years old when starting my apprenticeship and I have used this constantly since then. For several years I was carrying it in the side pocket of the coveralls so it is still polished from wear. Not worth a whole lot but to me it is priceless.

Good morning, low temp was 37 and the high to 41°F. Wind N 6 mph. A few rain showers or flurries.
We haven't seen any snow yet, and for now they can keep it down in the Buckeye State. At least until all my wood is in.

More wood to put in today, then rip the license plates off the Jeep, it goes tomorrow around noon. I had suggested he flat tow it but his daughters' boyfriend who is a Jeep mechanic said NO. Buddy is bringing a stock car trailer for it.

I will shoot up to North Bay and get my trailer spring and be back here by about 10 A.M. By noon I should have the spring in the trailer and the tractor all warmed up for loading the Jeep. Yes, it runs and drives, just doesn't stop very good (no brakes), so that is where the tractor comes in.
The garage the Jeep used to live in now has the BH and Z-turn. My car insurance went down $600.oo/year when I cancelled the Jeep.
IF I ever get the privilege of ordering another new vehicle, it will probably be a new Jeep Gladiator, ONLY if it comes with a manual transmission.

Good Morning!!!! 76F @ 8:00AM. Plentiful sunshine. Near record high temperatures. High 91F. Winds light and variable.
Looks like we're back to having summertime again. There was rain in the 10-day earlier, but it's disappeared now. The daytime highs will be dropping back into the 70s, though. Brrrr!

Neat wrench, Frits. Looks like the end could be used for a tire iron?

Yesterday I wrote out a complaint on the hotel we stayed in last weekend, posting it on Google and the motel's customer feedback form. I'll be surprised if I hear anything back.

The folks I ride motorcycles with down in SoCal use 2-way radios to stay in touch, so yesterday I dug mine out to see if I can get it working again. First step was to put it on the charger, today I'll see about hooking it up to the intercom system that's already on the bike.

Caught this pest sleeping outside the front door yesterday. Chased him away several times but he keeps comin' back. Haven't checked when deer season opens here, but that might be an answer to his problem.

Also looks like I need to put window washing on the list, too.

39F and a rain shower @ 11:00, heading up to a high of around 43F for the day.

Calling for rain early then remaining cloudy this afternoon with occasional rain showers, possibility of snow mixing in. Chance of rain 90%. Liquid accumulation since last midnight was 0.11". Low temp this morning at the LWS was 32.7F, think that is the coldest so far this season.

Used laser level last night to mark out line for track lighting in the dining room. Need to see if I can locate a suitably sized drill bit today and drill the holes for the wall anchors. Also mark out the location for the electrical box and get that cut out and the wires passed up through the wall for that.

The wiring is set up for for two switches to control it (three way switch ?) and has been hanging there since we pulled the 8' fluorescent fixture it controlled years ago. Need to see if I can figure out how it was wired. It's the original wiring, so hopefully they didn't do anything non-standard. I assume it is still hot, as I didn't notice any disconnected wires at either panel.

Good bet hopper feeder needs refilled ... so probably will venture out to handle that at some point.

Other than that, will probably spend some time down in the basement cleaning up down there.

More tools that need gathered up/organized.

There's a number of pieces of wood (2 x 4's and 3/4" plywood) that need painted or poly'ed so might get to that as well.

Finish up the light fixture layout for the barn.

Finish up next Menards order and get that placed so we can get down there and pick it tomorrow before the nice weather returns.

L4N - Just unloaded a BMW we were not using much. Put some money in my pocket and shrunk my insurance bill by $720 annually... plus $500 registration was due and new high dollar tires were needed plus a brake service due and a recall... was the breaking point for me.

Productive trip to town yesterday
Lunch at Burger King, 1st time in ages. Even made a run to PO and the dump.

Friends arriving today from Michigan for a 2 week visit. We see Kathy regularly on Zoom Happy Hour, but not Lenny. Will be good to get caught up.

Sophie’s new iPhone came in late yesterday, so spent the early evening getting that setup. Need to box up her old one today for trade in.

Hmpf. Deer season opened the third Saturday in September, and only lasted 16 days. Imagine hunting in 100F+ temps. No wonder I quit hunting.

Used to eat a lot of the big grays, but the damned red squirells have come in and interbred with the grays and they are only 1/2 the size they used to be. Fried the hind quarters up and soup or stewed the fronts.

The frame on my Jeep was rotten and had been for 2 years before this. The tub was also looking like swiss cheese.

I had gotten a buddy to weld in a floor on the drivers' side, that one was almost a flintstone car.
He diagnosed the frame AND the frame problem on my trailer. The trailer has been fixed all except the spring and that will happen real soon.
My plate sticker renewal is free. But that was just a recent political move. It used to be that license plate renewal stickers were $75.oo/year and I bought them 2 years at a time.
The insurance was the biggest expense on the Jeep but the rotten frame scares me. I can get saf-T-cap frame parts but they are expensive to start with and then add 35% exchange on the U.S. buck plus shipping and when all is said and done to get the parts into my hands I am looking at $4500.oo CDN
It is about the same price for the tub. $9,000.oo for a 21 year old Jeep?? Unh, unh not me. It has a good motor (4Litre) or based on the AMC inline 6, both rear ends are 4:56 and the front is posi-trac.
Buddy called and he will be here tomorrow noon with a stock car trailer and off she goes. He will put new brake lines on it and use it to plow his driveway.
There are a lot more Jeepers around where buddy lives than there are right around South River.
I bought it in 2004 as a used jeep just off lease with 72,000 kms (45,000 miles). It has been good to me and I worked the snot out of it, not it is time for it to go to a different home. My buddy can also weld.

I shot a lot of those fat grey squirrels as a kid Lou, used to eat holes in barn sheds. Plus we had a huge mulberry tree which they absolutely adored.

Bill I never owned a rotter until I bought a second hand 2015 Ram 1500. Two out of four quarter panels already replaced. Frame had thick layer of rust on it.
Body shop owner told me to sell it. I took his advice promptly.
whatever you do make sure no fumes get back into the car through the floor. I'd spray a layer of rubber coating or similar on it. Jeep has lots of sellable parts if you give up.

7 straight hours of school board visitation day and meeting. Sat in classes, gosh these young kids are smart. One 7th grade girl used a medical term I didn't learn until college.
And was talking like an adult to teacher. What do they put in the vitamins these days? 7th grade girl using "epidemiology" perfectly on a question of disease spread in ancient Rome.
Her father must be a doc, my jaw dropped. I asked about what used to be known as "civics" and was told that was in 8th grade. They get civics in one grade, yet they can take french in six grades. Sort of scratched my head on that one. Civic duty and not being a drain on society should be reinforced...

On most mornings the Head of School greets the kids getting dropped off at the front of the school, shakes every little hand, knows their names, and makes sure they look you in the eyes when the shake your hand. Something I was taught there in first grade. So then the school board, well half of us, who were there sucking down free coffee and pastries decided to join the Head. So we all stood outside on a very brisk morning and shook the hands of all the kids coming in. Yes, oh yes, I thoroughly washed my hands when done, but what a nice experience. I had nice warm hands and some of those little kids were mighty cold. They were simply adorable and every one looked you in the face if not eyes.

Eyes tell you a lot, both ways.

Reminds me of my school days walking to school on the cobblestone streets in Ebeltoft Denmark. It was an old school with outside rest rooms but the teachers were very good and caring. School was in session 6 days a week and summer vacation was 4 weeks. I had to walk out to end of town after school to meet my dad and help unload the truck on the delivery route. I was driving the truck at an early age of 10 so dad could offload and not run in and out of the truck. Also lots of the deliveries for stores had attic storage rooms so lots of heavy sacks of stuff to carry up. But I liked it and was great to be with my dad.

Good late (Thursday) morning. Overnight Low of 8.5C and it's presently 18.5C, however there's a stiff breeze on this primarily sunny day which adds a wee bit of wind chill. Friday + Saturday are predicted to be another 'rain event'.

Part of my 'in-to-town' excursion, yesterday, included stopping off at the town's only hardware store to spend a A$100 'gift card' that I received for my community garden tractor-fun. I got garden hose connectors in order to re-arrange my paddock horse trough supply system. Quality connectors (mostly brass) sure do eat up the dollar value. I managed to only have to 'pay' A$5 at the end of it all.

As it was a beautiful day I also took a quick trip over to Pyengana to pick up some cheese... good thing too as there were road crews repairing the Tasman Highway after last Thursday/Friday rain event. Darned if I didn't get a stone-chip on my windscreen on the way there. Oh well, it happens.

Used to. Haven't shot any in probably five or six years. Too much work for so little meat. I never used to mind that when I was younger. Just lost interest once I got into my 50s. We have a freezer full of beef and chicken from a local processor, so it's not like we need the protein.

As rodents go, I always preferred rabbit anyway (I know, not technically a rodent). Easier to hit, easier to clean, more meat per shot.
