Mostly
my right thumb needs a re-build due to arthritis and it also locks up every time I move it. It clicks. Carpal as well. The left one is numb and the 3 fingers next to it get pins and needles all the time due to carpal tunnel in the wrist. Sadly exercises wont help at all. Thanks for your concern.

30 going to 61. Yesterday was first morning this year with ice in the birdbaths.

Kyle, hope you're feeling better, and it's nothing serious.

RNG, great photos of your trip. That dog probably drives better than his owner.

m70, looks like a pretty place to walk to school.

When I got home from the mountains last night, my wife was taking a chicken pot pie out of the oven. Smelled so good, and I was starved. I told her it reminded me of a bumper sticker on the truck parked next to mine at the trailhead...it said:
CHICKEN POT PIE
My 3 favorite things

I got to walk across this suspension bridge on the trail yesterday on the way up the mountain.

Good Morning!

23F here in Appalachia, and God has given us another opportunity to try any get it right — but with extra layers on…

I guess I will have to unbox the chicken waterer warmer soon. I have started retraining the hens to go into the coop at night - we have a secure steel mesh run with some roosting bars, and all summer they stayed out there rather than go in, but with the falling temps and rising winds, they need to be in at night.

I am hopeful that today the sawmill assembly will progress to at least engine installation, although getting the controls in would be nice while the weather is still tolerably comfortable for bare fingers on metal parts (it is supposed to hit 60F later.

MrsKilroyJC’s spider bite has finally cleared up, and this morning we will be going back to the gym for the first time in over a week (we normally do 3-4 days a week) so that should be entertaining “for varying values of “entertaining”…)

I hope everyone’s day is successful, safe and healthy!

Good evening all. 41ºF for the start, clear sky, light breeze. Wind had brisk gusts, clear sky, and high temp was 61ºF. By Friday high temp back to 85ºF, Tuesday after that down to 70ºF, along with .5 inch rain. Went to the fire station to replace batteries in breathing apparatus, could not finish, no enough batteries. Chef said he would get more today. Bike ride this afternoon, needed arm warmers, and wind penalty almost 1 mile. Did get nap in and help wife mast pasta primavera. In spite of 1.3 inch rain not much water flowing into lake.

Kyle sorry about the fever, any clue what caused it? prayers sent.

prayer for all, especially Jay/Peg, Kyle's daughter and family drama, /mom's breathing, /learning new job, /friends upcoming new baby, Bird /aging issues, Roy /palpitations, /angina, /night time issues, /wife ankle, recover from getting sick, Billy /wife back & hip, mom hypertension & congestive heart failure, David(moss) /remodel, /divorce, Buppies /new skin cancer spot and treatment, /elbow healing, /wife knee healing, Thomas /gout, /wife's pain, Phil /reflux, /wife's eyes, Frits/ daughters hip replacement /veteran son with mental issues, Ken /dad possible dementia, Steppenwolfe /son-auto immune disorder, Grev /wife's eye, Ted /knee recovery, /retirement, /family issues, /wife feeling bad, Lou / eye issues, Doug and wife/health issues, /nerve and pain, / wife headaches, David(sadamo)/Sophie's new eye surgery recovery, Chris /neighbor's granddaughter and Covid issues, Scaredy/shoulder dislocation, /wife not feeling well, /marriage, / friend stop drinking, Paul/ wife's healing from back surgery, Gale and KY/ tornado victims, Mike /5 year plan, Dennis /retirement plans and land purchase and development, / brother "alligallyitus" and back in hospital, Drew /foot heel issues, /friend cancer diagnosis and recovery, Mike /spine injury and recovery, Scotty, /back pain, Helogabals /second opinion, /wife's friend situation, Mark /wife colon surgery, Ukraine war, and Country.
Mostly, no clue what caused the fever. Had people praying for me, and I believe that kicked in my immune response and kicked whatever to the curb. Felt much better Wednesday morning.

I hope you can remove the Family drama from your prayer list for now. We have taken a "wait and see" attitude, allowing forgiveness a chance to heal the young man who concocted the threatening text. But we told the sheriffs/county prosecutor to hold the evidence and we will retain the right to press charges if anything else happens.

New CNC mill arrives today! (hopefully without a hitch). But the electricians are awaiting a 70 amp shut off box to connect it to our buss bar. Not until the electricity is hooked up will the mill company come and finite the install.

Have a blessed day all. Prayers.

Good morning! 55˚F heading to the mid 80's, we just had one cold day. But that was enough to pre-sell out of all campfires at the "Farm".
There are 10 camp fires Twice daily 4 hours each on Fridays and Saturdays evening/night (early fires are $40 less). There are 4 campfire days left this month that would be 90x10x4+50x10x4=5,600. That ought to be good to keep me supplied with diesel for a while.

The appliance day went well at the plant based meeting except we forgot to make the nuts butter before the water was added but the "milk" turned out good anyway. Samples were liked. Too bad we weren't getting a cha-ching for each machine sold. We did the demonstrations with the Nutramilk and the Nutr milk machines. I like the Nutr machine best for making just milk because it also boils the milk and soy milk must be boiled. The Nutramilk machine does not boil but makes more than a cup at a time and can also be used as a powerful food processor.
Also demonstrated by others: a dehydrator, ice cream machine, sprout growing, and a personal blender that uses mason jars.

Good Morning
It’s 36 and going to 56 under sunny skies.

It’s getting close enough to the wedding that the forecasts are getting reliable, and it looks like we will have good weather.

I was able to accomplish most of yesterdays planned activities, the only one left over was to stage the PA equipment for the reception.

The tent goes up today, I’ll have to get that crew started, showing the location of underground conduit and wires, as well as where to connect their electric service.
I’ve got to make the rub get it applied to the briskets and pork shoulders, and get them ready to load into the smoker tonight.
UPS brought the Cambro rack, got it washed out and ready to keep the meat warm once it’s done. I’ll put a stock pot of boiling water in it to warm it up as the meats near completion.

There is quite a long list of things that I have to chase down, but I’m confident that it will all get taken care of with time to spare.
To quote Alfred E Neumann, “ What Me Worry”.

Good Morning!!!! 66F @ 5:00AM.
Plentiful sunshine. High 88F. Winds light and variable.

No joy on the radios yesterday, looks like an explosion in a spaghetti factory in there.

I did get a package of forms filled out for the Department of Motor Vehicles trying to sort out a registration issue. It seems they lost the first one I put together.

Rain is back in the forecast for next week, but I'm not holding my breath that it'll actually happen.

Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'!

Morning 33, going up to 59, was dark and starry when I walked the pooch.

Still working on Halloween decorations, just too tired to do much, but feeling a bit better.

I made this frame last year and it is filled with pads running AtmosFX videos. They morph slowly as you watch. I also have two projectors in the detached garages that display 3d morphing images onto grey screens.

The fall view from my backyard overlooking my neighbors field. There are stacks of leaves to clean up, but yesterday was too windy to bother.

A lot of the trailer riders have had their face painted - Spiderman, cats, pumpkins, etc . . . No tractors so far but I have identified the best face painter.
I'm not quite brave enough yet to get my tractor face painting but I found a how-to YouTube. I need to get her to practice on a few other faces first.

nice meadow Ken. Bet there's a hawk perched in one of those trees looking for a rodent lunch

Now if you have blue eyes Don, you'll have to get a New Holland or LS tractor on your face.

30°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 71° today.

Late day at work cut into my productive time at home yesterday evening, but still got some stuff done.

Nashville IL is about 45 miles southeast of us, Mostly_, down I-64. Wife and I have taken a couple of kayaking trips just south of there on Washington County Lake, but other than that we don't get over that way much. I used to do most of my squirrel hunting on Chouteau Island when I lived in Granite City. The last few years I "hunted" them was just shooting in the front yard, where we have a bunch of large oaks and shagbark hickory trees.

Nice pics, wngsprd.

Good morning, gents.

nice short drive over to local apple orchard, got a variety of apples and then saw some local sausage that looked good.
Pork farmer in Newtown, been there forever, plus the apples from this orchard. Ely Pork products isn't too far from Ken's home.

darn, frost melted on label, now I can see it has MSG in it. Never would have bought it if I read that.

42F and supposedly sunny @ 11:00 but I'd say it's more like partly cloudy since it doesn't seem all that bright out. Probably some high clouds that are making it somewhat hazy. Calling for a high of 51F for the day.

LWS reports that the last night's low here was 32.2F.

Yesterday did not develop like planned.

Spent a couple of hours in the morning with The Woman basically going over what all needs done in the barn, and in what sequence it needs to happen, and what materials still need to be picked up ... so She could create a list for Herself so She wouldn't be repeatedly asking me. Which was all good.

I spent the time on the couch cutting up cardboard boxes while we discussed.

After that we wound up starting the big clean out of the bill and info folders in the filing cabinet, removing bills that are earlier than the current year. The paper shredder got a good workout.

That's been needing to be done for quite a while and we got a lot done (worked on it all day) but still have quite a ways to go to get it fully completed. Particularly on the filing of tool/appliance manuals.

No work done on track lighting and didn't get out to check the hopper feeder, the one suet feeder is empty.

Will definitely get out to refill feeders later today once it warms up some.

Also on agenda:

Check live trap.

Get measurement of the height of bottom chord on pole barn trusses so I know what size lumber to order to frame out the opening for the attic ladder.

Finish up Menards order(s) and get those placed.

Put forks on Kubota and unload OSB from van and move it over to the barn. I have a couple of long steel frames that I will use to keep it up off the ground.

Maybe move some more tools over.

Run down to Massillon Menards later today and pick up orders once they are ready. Need around 90 pieces of 2 x 4 x 8 for the ceiling joists plus whatever other lumber ... so that's likely to take a while to pick and load all those.

Hope everyone has a great Thursday ... (y)
