Glad you are getting rain. I see the clouds to the south, but it is still dry here.
So, you're mom is hoarding all the gas and that's why prices are going up again? 😁

62 and raining, going to 71.

Forgot to drop the tarp down over the long row of firewood pallets before the rain got here...fortunately, have a makeshift roof over them.

Sodamo, good luck with your streaming changes. We've had Dish since 1998 and been very happy. Internet speeds are not so fast here...10mbps on DSL. Don't think we could get some of our favorite programs on streaming, but haven't looked very hard.

m7040, that's quite the grapple load. I've had to pick up trees/logs like that due to space restrictions, but not that big.

Enjoyed another day in the mountains yesterday. We spent most of the time above 3000 feet, and agreed the autumn leaf colors there were in peak.

Lots of paperwork catching up and coffee roasting today while rainy.

Good Morning!!!! 64F @ 4:15AM.
Plentiful sunshine. High 86F. Winds light and variable.

Glad to hear about your rain, Kyle. Hope it amounts to something.

I have similar media exposure to yours, David (only 3 OTA stations, test screens, outages, etc.). Like Kyle, I like watching motorsports, but the coverage via satellite seems to be cutting back with shorter shows these days. Year before last, though, one morning we had smoke so thick the sun never came up. And it took out the satellite internet, so I had no way of determining where it was burning. It had been raining burnt leaves all the night before, so it was a very stressful day. I ended up listening to local radio stations while sitting in my truck, and the information wasn't that timely or accurate. But it was a lot like the old days when all you had was a few stations, and a newspaper to tell you what happened a day or two later.

And FWIW, we're also on the same page regarding snow shoveling and leaf rakeing.😳

Did your laser level come with a grade stick and detector? They work even when you can't see the line, but accuracy isn't as good.

Great leaf color, Billy. Thanks for sharing.

Welcome fatjay. That's a lot of water!

Check ride yesterday went smoothly, with nothing much to fix when I got home. The foam cover on the microphone mouthpiece in my helmet keeps coming loose, but a bit of crazy glue fixed it right up. Didn't get back until almost noon, though, and it was a bit warm to be wearing leathers by then. But with mountain weather on my horizon, and a cooling trend, I don't think it'll be too bad. If things go as planned, by this time tomorrow morning, temps will be down in the mid 30s and I'll be looking for a restaurant to pull into and warm up.

The tech support guy found two devices using the same IP address yesterday, and when I turned one of them off, things started to settle down. Everything's on DHCP, so I don't understand how that could happen. And when I tried to plug everything back into the questionable switch, the problems started again. Ended up putting a smaller switch upstream of the questionable one, and attaching my most important cameras to it. Then only using two or three ports on the problem switch, which it seems to handle OK, as there have been no further error messages. That bodge will get me through the weekend, but it's not a long term solution. Just need to be able to check in and take a look around while I'm on the road.
EDIT: Just checked, and the tech support guy has issued an RMA for the broken switch. Hopefully this next replacement will work better than the current one.

Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'!

Morning all, 59 going up to 67 and cloudy, some rain overnight.

Fatjay-looks like you are still in Thailand and they have Texas chicken there ? Been in monsoons before, not fun, but does move the mud around.

Good to hear your feeling better L4N

The below picture has a somewhat hidden vulture flying in it, a little right of the trampoline. You can see it's shadow on the ground. More leaves turning, will get pics once the rain moves out.

RNG - Check DHCP lease time and make sure you don't have ip hard coded somewhere.
My front camera was sticking to one ip instead of the one I assigned it.
After a few camera reboots it finally picked up the right ip. No idea why that happened.

40°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 67° today. High winds with 50mph gusts expected after noon, giving us a "red flag warning."

Walked down to the road to bring the trash can back to the house yesterday, and found it was still full. I blew it off as a holiday week delay, but noted that we didn't have this problem with the small company before these guys bought them. I'll be surprised if they don't raise our rate before the end of the year. In case I haven't been clear about it, I really dislike this company.

I take it that you are in Thailand, fatjay?

Nice colors, wngsprd.

Good morning, gents.

How does this even balance ?
Grabbed it by the rootball and tipped up the bucket. Easy. Having loaded tires, cast iron wheels, double wheel weights and 72 inch tiller on 3 point all helps to keep it stable

Good morning! North wind but a warmish 67˚F before sunrise heading to the upper 80s. It still does not feel like Fall with no need for a jacket.

Yesterday on the tractor it was 92˚ and with the bright sun peeking around the canopy it was just hot. It amazed me that yesterday we got another 100 boxes 4'X4'X4' of pumpkins, that makes 300 boxes this fall, that's 6 - 18 wheelers ful lof pumpkins). I had to look up the source and found that the Pumpkin Pyle, in Floydada TX, is a multi generational family owned 750 acre pumpkin patch that produces 65 varieties of pumpkins. I think we have all the varieties.

The highlight of my day was when an entire preschool wanted to ride on the trailer together. They were small enough that all 65 had a place to sit.

All 10 campfires (12 people ea.) are sold out for the late sitting - 6pm-10pm, even though the temps will be in the 90s Saturday.

Wngsprrd, you have the best Fall colors with those reds and yellows. The primary tree in the bottom lands of the San Gabriel River is Pecan, and they are all still green. They have no pretty color in the fall, they just go from green to brown.

Good morning 61 now going to 66 and raining

No outside clean up today too muddy

Will go to the barn this afternoon and poke around a bit and check on supplies for building the 10 by 24 ft firewood storage shed that I am planning to build. I think I have the lumber but not all the screws etc.

Cody knows how to relax

70°F and no rain

Finish up my cabinet/countertop this morning. A couple of support cleats and some trim, some cleanup. Still need to grout the tile. Should get a coat of mineral oil on it before I get a stain on it. Need to find what I need for the propane run.

Hand & Foot at our friends later. He only has has new Starlink set up temporarily. I’m sure it will be a topic of discussion.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Don, can I ask if it's a one time payment or settlement, or can you set it up to pay you monthly for as long as the pipeline is there?

55F and partly cloudy @ 13:45, heading up to a high of only 58F for the day ... if we are lucky.

LWS reports 1.03" of rain since midnight and 0.31" yesterday evening (prior to midnight) for a grand total of 1.34" in the last 24 hours. I would say everything is well-watered at this point.

A brisk wind out of the north is making things feel a bit chilly right at the moment.

One upside of the rain - aside from watering stuff that grows - is that the gutters on the barn likely got a good flushing.

The downside is that with the wind there probably now more leaves in them ...

Tomorrow doesn't sound much better than today, with a forecast high of only 60F ... but at least the winds will be out of the southwest.

And the Ten Day is calling for the possibility of snow next Tue/Wed ...

Unsure of plans for the rest of the day.

Doing some cleaning and straightening up of the garage seems like a good possibility.

Need to pull out the torpedo heater and air up it's tires and then move it over to the barn.

Probably see about rounding up more tools that need to go over.

Hope everyone is having a great Thursday ... (y)

Did your laser level come with a grade stick and detector? They work even when you can't see the line, but accuracy isn't as good.

RNG,

No it did not.

It's a fairly low cost unit that lacks those amenities:

Self-Leveling 360 Degree Green Cross Line Laser with Tripod

The unit I borrowed from my friend here - a Northwest Instruments NSL 200 - does have a remote detector and a grade stick though. It's red laser isn't terribly bright however.

I was mainly interested - at least initially - in getting all the poles marked at floor level so I could install an interior skirt board so that the concrete guys would have something to run a screed on.

Wanted to do that visually with an illuminated laser line ... rather going through the mental math gymnastics of using the grade stick and detector for 20+ poles.

In talking to a concrete contractor I had come in, he was talking about using ground contact rated PT lumber for the interior skirt board.

Then I watched some YT videos and saw one with The Morgans where they were going to use EPS foam board instead of PT lumber. Kind of liked that idea ... since there is no wood to rot out.

They were planning on installing in-floor radiant heat so insulating the perimeter made quite a bit of sense.

Don't know if I'll go that route or not, but avoiding as much heat loss as possibly would probably be a good thing.

Glad you were able to some the networking issues sorted out and get an RMA on the errant switch ... (y)
