Ok. That could be your problem. Before I tried taking one of those apart. I would try to clean it. WD-40 or PB as well as brakekleen or starting fluid all make good cleaners for this. Spray and wipe out with shop towels. Also try a wire brush. Then reapply fluid film to implement side shaft. Might even pull collar back and spray and rotate the balls inside there.
If I remember correctly this is a new unit. So it might be a tight spring and you don’t realize that you’re not getting enough release on it. If cleaning or disassembly and cleaning doesn’t work. I’d try to shorten the spring for the second disassembly.
