43F and cloudy @ 21:00, headed down to a low of 32/33F. Will be mostly sunny tomorrow but high will only be 48F.

Spent some time this afternoon on the phone catching up with a local friend who is under the weather at the moment.

Refilled hopper feeder and then headed off to get order picked up at Menards. Already loaded up one of the covered plant trays, will do another one here in a few.

When I got back I took the dump cart up and filled it halfway with screened compost and brought it back down and got one storage tote of the potting soil blend made up.

The second set of five grow bags from Amazon were delivered before I left, and I got those about filled about 1/3 ... so they're ready to have the dahlia tubers put in them ... maybe later tonight.

Noticed while I have been out over the last few days that fuel prices are starting to fall. Cheapest I had seen was $3.69/gal for regular but diesel was still around $5/gal. At the Meijer's out by Menards they had regular for $3.68 and diesel for $4.66 ... so I went ahead and stuck $50 in the tank of the van, which took it up over halfway.

That could last another month, depending on how much driving I do.

Hope Ron Hall is doing ok and everyone had a great day ... (y)

BEF---"LS, how much is a bag of mulch on sale and what size bags?"

Lowes have them on sale for 5 bags for $10, or $2 a bag (don't have to get multiples of 5). They are 2CF per bag. The pallets that were still factory shrink wrapped contained 65 bags or 130 CF. Or 4.81 yards.
Normal price here is $3.68 / bag.

I think the sale is only until tomorrow..... but your area may vary....

Happy Easter (afternoon) all!

Up early for Church (0530), the temp was 8C and the high this arvo is 24C. I received 2.5mm of rain in the gauge, it's partly cloudy with a wee bit of a breeze.

My 'back' neighbour asked if it was OK to drop a leaning gum-tree onto my back paddock (#6). He's putting in a double gate on his driveway and, seeing as the gum (his side of the shared fence) was leaning on the fence wire onto my property, I said OK. He doesn't want any help cleaning up either... and it's already down.

Lovely day so far. Some rain expected tomorrow.

Take care all!

Good morning and Happy Easter. Temp is 22 and going to a high of 43°F. Wind N 7 mph.

Turkey is on the menu for today with whole berry cranberry sauce, stuffing and potatoes. Apple pie for desert.
We don't normally have desert, so the pie is a treat.

Tuesday through Saturday I will be either in pre start meetings of doing a medical. Friday afternoon I get to pick up 25 lbs of smoked belly pork and Saturday morning I get my new SSQA for the 'V' plow. The V plow will come in handy for planting potatoes as well.

Today is an energy conservation day.

Have a safe Easter all

good morning all
those look like free range eggs Helogabals, nice and orange

.10 rain last night, sunny day near 50 but a freeze warning for tonight. I have a few flowers to cover that didn't like the last cold snap.

busy day, starting with 8am setup at church for Easter breakfast. I made gluten free blueberry muffins and taking that plus some maple syrup for waffles and
some bananas. Trying to have something a little more healthy than sausage and waffles.

After church dropping some muffins off to old friend whose wife is very ill, if he doesn't come to service this morning. Hard for him to get away, demented wife gets scared being alone
and it's a bad scene for him. Frontal lobe issues, not much he can do. She and I used to enjoy gardening together. I can't even visit because new things/people upset her so.

Endocrinologist appt tomorrow morning, very interesting to see how labs come back. Hoping for another six months of calm.
I put a heat pad on my neck last night and doubled up my arthritis meds, seemed to help. I really need a back operation but neck is bothering me more.
Pretty much a first class mess.

Today is Easter, a special day for many. Hope the love of family makes everyone's day a blessing.

I went back and looked at those eggs again, but it was the bread that caught my eye.
My grandfather's family came from Brody Ukraine, West of the current fighting, and every breakfast and dinner there was a small plate with a pile
of white bread on it. We would normally toast it here, but I think there is something Eastern European about eating
plain bread with meals. Perhaps Irish also? That's why it's so fun to have folks here from "abroad", we learn new things. Like Australian critters.

very healthy breakfast actually, not many folks eat vegetables for breakfast. We all should. Usually it's carbs and fat.
Had a vegan burger last night, it was on sale for two bucks a burger. It was very good, cooked in a covered pan, but of course you have to load seasoning on it.
If I had a tomato, I'd put a big slice of that on the patty. Can't wait to start growing my own, bringing them in right off the vine.

Now I need a healthier bun than the store brand diet buns, 80 calories.

Good Morning.
It’s 38 and sunny, rained overnight, won’t get above 50.

Yesterday was a decent day, rain held off until dinner time. I got a lot of outside chores done, cut up a few trees that blew down over the winter, first time using the Stihl MS261C I bought in the fall to replace the 026 that my son destroyed. I trimmed some shrubs and mowed some grass with the Lazer. Got to spend some time with my buddy, he just loves machinery.

Got all the parts finished on the speakers, they just need final assembly.

All the kids will be here for breakfast shortly, everyone have a great Easter!

Good Morning!!!! 47F @ 5:15AM. Sunny. High 73F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.
Things started off wet with rain overnight yesterday, leaving a half inch in the rain gauge by mid afternoon. Then I started hearing thunder near dinner time, and radar showed a big green blob with yellow and orange center making a bee line for the neighborhood. Lightning lit up the sky, it started raining cats'n'dogs, and next thing you know hail was rattling off the sliding glass doors, covering the porches in whiteness. Picked up an inch and a half of rain in less than an hour, then it all ended in a pretty double rainbow. Maybe we'll get some more May flowers as a result?

One man's trash is another man's treasure, Check. Good find!

Brought home some stew meat from the grocery store, so diced it up and made a sort of beef stew in the InstaPot. Browned it, then threw in a couple cups of brown rice, a quart of good porter, a couple bay leaves and some thyme and onion powder, some garlic, a little salt, some Liquid Smoke, and pressure cooked it all for 30 minutes. Added a can each of corn and green beans, then slow cooked for another couple hours, as the rice wasn't quite done. Turned out pretty tasty for a throw together dish.

Gonna torch at least one burn pile today, but not sure what else is on the agenda.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend!

Good morning! 32 now, might get to 48 later.

Not sure how much rain we got, but there is standing water in the yard again. Noticed when I was out walking around yesterday.

HAPPY EASTER!

I always enjoyed breakfast when I was in Europe. Especially when there was a good selection of meats, cheeses, bread, vegetables, and fruit. But breakfast in the UK was special too. A full English isn’t good for you, but it is very tasty. Not breakfast, but this talk of eating in Europe is making me crave a Greek Farmer’s Salad…..

Not sure what today will bring…..I will find something to get into.

Everyone stay safe out there!
