65°F and cloudy with some scattered showers this morning, staying pretty stead through the day with some severe storms and high winds blowing through the area today. 50mph gusts, they say, and possible tornadoes. Yippie ... I'll be picking up some sticks this weekend for sure.
Wife did some clutter cleaning in the storage area under the stairs yesterday and found a bunch of 35mm film canisters and a few disposable cameras. No idea what's on them, so she took them to CVS to get them developed. Neither of us have used film cameras in 20-25 years, so it will be interesting to see what they contain.
She also found all of the original bank and insurance documentation from when her grandparents bought the property in 1970, including the payment books. They were paying $100/month for the original 17 acres, which came to just over $9K including interest. They added a second mortgage in '74 to finance the rest of the house construction, and paid it all off in 1986. Neat to go through and see all that stuff.
I remember trying Iron City Beer back in the '80s, BEF. You weren't missing anything.
Michelob Classic Dark was one of my favorites, Mostly_.
Some other less-than-stellar beers I remember are Red White & Blue, Black Label, Hamm's, Rock & Roll, Schaefer, Schlitz, Falstaff, Stag, and 905 (store brand). Never cared for Grolsch either.
Some of the better ones were Rolling Rock ("from the glass-lined tanks of old Latrobe"), Olympia (the "Beer Sphere" plastic quarter barrels), and most of the Molson offerings. I was never a big fan of Miller or Coors, but the Miller Genuine Draught in those odd-shaped bottles was pretty good. Leinenkugel's, Killian Red, Becks, and Heineken were all good. Does anyone remember the Little Kings Cream Ale in the little pony bottles? Drank a ton of those in my youth.
Welcome to the GN thread, OHfan.
