Roy, keep up your spirits. Sometimes I think we pull a cart behind us with all our problems in it
and sometimes that load gets very heavy.
It's the job of your friends to try to lighten it.
Slow and steady wins the race.
Looks like we will both get a haircut today.
New barber for me.
Always a concern...do they understand what "just a trim" means?
Mine do...the barbers I go to were a father and son outfit. The father, Ken ("Ken's Barber Shop" Randolph VT), is now retired and the son (Tom) now runs the place with a few contract barbers. The COVID shutdowns really hurt small businesses like Ken's. I always made sure they got a healthy tip when I get my haircut (ain't a hell of a lot to cut, but anything to support small business).

It's tough to speak the proper language/lingo in a profession you are not in. A few years ago I finally asked the barber who gave me a good haircut how I should I explain to a barber the type of haircut he just gave me. He did and it works.
(For my haircut the proper terminology that works when the barber ask "How would your you like it cut today?" is: "Finger length on top and tapered on the sides.")

Roy, I had the same barber from around 1952 (pic of me as two year old in his barber chair) up until about ten years ago.
Then he wound up with dementia and had to stop cutting hair, he'd get half way through and couldn't remember what to do next.
We all loved him so he was always treated with gentleness.

His replacements were a husband and wife team in the middle of a nasty divorce,
she was ok, talked too much and cut my hair too short, talk, cut, talk, cut....geez please talk less and cut less.
Then she left and husband cut my hair once. What an obnoxious person he was, had hoped that changed.
So I knew I needed a new barber, who happens to be in the same shopping center so it's easy. My brother had to change also and he reported back
to me she was ok. Sometimes it's hard to get just a haircut anymore. No I don't want my hair washed, there isn't enough of it anyway...

Don, good advice, thank you. Another term is "off the ears". When you think about it, not very precise instructions, all about how much tapering they do.
Be thankful you have enough hair to taper. ;)

Good morning! The cold and wet will not be here till tonight. 57˚F heading to the mid 70s Then we will have one day of Texas winter weather (High temps just in the 50s) before Texas Fall wether returns us back to the 70s.

The bridge will have to be modified or warning signs put up. The fall into the creek happened the first hour the trail was opened to the public. There was also a complaint that small dogs cannot cross it because the stones are a foot apart.

Good morning.
It’s 43 and going to 50 with a chance of spotty rain.

Yesterday I kept busy all day, and made progress on many fronts.
Continuing to clean and organize in the shop, pulled out the PTO generator and ran it on the load bank for a while, as it hadn’t been used in quite a while, as it’s been relegated to the backup to the backup. I probably should sell it, but it goes against my nature to get rid of tools, so I’ll hang on to it. You never know when it might come in handy.

We had our first in person odd fellows meeting in at least 18 months last night, masks and 10 foot spacing. There was a poor turnout, with at least one member saying they weren’t going wear a mask as a reason to not attend.
A curious response considering that the very charter of the lodge is to help others.

I’ll likely have breakfast with a friend this morning, and then continue cleaning, organizing and maintaining, and of course voting.

Drew, the difference between a good haircut and a bad one is only a couple of weeks.

Don, the bridge is what's known in legal terms as an attractive nuisance, meaning it's very nature attracts you to use it, but it then comes with dangers. Like an unfenced pond.
Bottom line is you can't have folks slip and fall on a pathway, and for sure it's not handicap accessible. As soon as I saw it, I thought where are the railings?
If pure art, don't let folks walk on it...otherwise it has to be pretty safe for public use.

Thanks for the Professional terminology!

I know Buppies but common sense is only accumulation of experiences. Sometimes the only way to get it is to fall in a creek.

I dug my bike out of the basement, pumped up the tires and went down to the Susquehanna river trail. They had paved the northern 3 miles during the pandemic. Nice and smooth. I felt like I was flying until a guy on a racing bike passes me like I was standing still. I met him again when he was turned back by a flooded section. The river was moderately high and sounded like it was roaring over the rapids. Very nice ride. I was amazed at how good it felt since I haven't ridden in quite a while.

Buckeye, maybe the white stuff will show up today.

You can keep it.
They were calling for some in western MD mountains. Light rain here today, low was 37°

"I hope the right one wins."

Guy, the right one never wins. He won't even run.

Chris

Well, there is that. A thankless job for sure, as you are never the right one for one side. I sure wouldn’t want to, but some people thrive on it.
As a leader at my church, I hear when things aren’t done right.

No election here today, just a few town mayors.

stood in line for about ten minutes before getting a very manual voting sheet that took a while to
fill in the darkened areas. No hanging chads here...
Was accosted at booth in parking lot by lady asking me if she could talk to me about write in candidates for school board.
I almost went into a rant about my father being president of this board for 15 years, my brother being president for many years and my nephew
now on the board, and that the last thing we needed on the board was one note partisanship from folks who just moved here from NY.
But I kept my mouth shut.

And I was happily greeted by an older lady sitting behind the tables with Hi Drew. I couldn't tell who said it but I recognized the voice. Betsy and I grew up about two
miles apart in New Hope, and her husband ran the local savings and loan. They both have worked the polling booths for over 50 years.
Nice to see folks I knew.

41F and fairly sunny @ 11:00, heading up to a high of 48F for the day. Low this morning hit 36.3F ... so no freeze yet.

WU Ten Day still showing less than a 25% chance of precip throughout the entire period ... plus some highs in the low 60's ... (y)

Hopper and two sunflower tube feeders filled yesterday first thing. Also two suet feeders.

Got oil and filter changed in the Cub Cadet so that should be handled until sometime next year.

Mowed upper half of lower front, also about 90% of east side down around the house. Leaves probably better than 50% down at this point. Dropped mower deck 1/4" (2.75" vs 3" previously)

Trash and recycles taken up to the road.

Agenda for today:

Handle some email.

Go vote.

Then possibly more mowing, depending on how warm it feels.

Also probably get a few more plants in the ground.

Otherwise more clean up inside.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day ... (y)

I have a new polling place. Used to be right up the road in the township hall. Now it is in town, about 6 miles away.

Walked in, I was the only one there besides the poll workers. Got asked if I was there to vote.

“No, I am here to pay all of my unpaid parking tickets to the village”

Every single one of the poll workers busted up laughing.

Things went smooth and quick after that

Good Morning!!!! 56F @ 8:45AM. Cloudy early with peeks of sunshine expected late. High 69F. Winds light and variable.
Yesterday was overcast all day, with another couple tenths of rain in the afternoon. With everything so damp, I think I'll light a burn pile this morning and keep it going most of the day.

I thought it was illegal to campaign at a polling place, Drew.

Well at least you've got a good foundation for whatever bridge deck you decide to build, Don. What do you do until then? Gate it off and let people wade across?

Lithium batteries are also a lot lighter than lead acid, a good reason to use them in a portable device like a golf cart. Too bad they're not cheaper by the pound, though.

Maybe the spider gets more use out of that computer than you do, Mike. 😄

Shouldn't that Red Wing have flown south by now, Ron?

It seems clutter is an occupational hazard, Paul, of having the right tool for the job.

Took the day yesterday to update some old fashioned web pages on the red bike, as I was starting to lose track of the modifications I've made to it. It was also a test of the web building software running in the virtual environment, and it didn't go very well. Worst problem was that the cursor didn't click where it was pointed, requiring a dose of invisible Kentucky windage to hit the mark. Other parts of the user interface didn't work at all. And it was slow. So may have to come up with another solution, or just dedicate a computer to that and not worry about updating it.

good morning all.
Yes, vote today, easy for me, right across the street at municipal building.

Just down the road at the church here.

We have three write in candidates for school board running on a one note band, no masks in school. Sigh.

They have never served on a school board before and have never attended a school board meeting, so I feel obligated to make sure I vote against them. One school board member in Central Bucks, next big school system nearby, quit from getting threats from public.

If one wants to get rid of decent people in public service, threats and intimidation are one way to do it.

But there's a way to handle that ... ;)

Politics was always knocking on the door of school boards, now it seems they are trying to knock the door down.

We've got our own little bit of political drama here.

Someone apparently targeted one of our local town council members ... by creating a false Facebook account/page impersonating him. A (false) statement (in the voice of the impersonated council member) was then apparently posted to that Facebook page, by whoever created the account ... which was then posted or shared on another Facebook page run by another fellow who I believe is running for council.

This resulted in a investigation by the local police (wasting precious time and limited resources) ... which apparently traced back the activity back via IP address to the wife of another guy who is running for mayor.

It's a safe bet that none of the parties involved in that will be getting mine or The Woman's vote ... except for the guy who was targeted.
