The information is readily available by a simple search.
Thanks for the link. Interesting to see that over 83% of the over 65 have been fully vaxed...and already 4.7 Million booster shots have been given/taken.

It seems like the government should make another, better push to get minorities vaccinated. The CDC chart shows 10% or less of Asians, American Indian/Alaska Native (1%), and Blacks have been fully vaxed. I know our state dedicated resources to this, but results are not good.

57° at home.
70° and scattered storms were I am. Heading home today. Quick trip. Got 3 different people coming in at different times to take care of the 2 cats.

Don’t know vac status, but husband and wife that goes to church with dad both died yesterday from COVID. That was a shock. Don’t know if dad’s been told yet. So sad, I knew them since I was young.

Drizzling now...guess I'll forgo rigging the snowblower today. Forecast is for dryer and a bit warmer (might even hit 70°) by midweek. Still have inside chores though.
Wifey's pretty depressed. Stepdaughter, who works part time as a pharmacy tech, says that's probably due to the OxyContin. A dreary day, so that's not helping much either

Really sorry to read about your friend's passing...tragic.
Where's that bridge?

Good morning! 62 now and drizzling. They are predicting 72. We shall see.

Washer/dryer arrived yesterday. 3 guys, early 30’s who were friendly, professional, and engaged in what they were doing. Sounded like pilot’s going down the checklist to make sure everything was done correctly in the installation. My wife wouldn’t pay the $120 fee to haul the old ones away, the guy in charge said don’t worry, he would make them disappear. And he did. She tipped them with a $100 gift card.

Installed the anti-scalp roller and got the mowing done. Even mowed the berm of the road on both sides of the road along the property. Grass is slowing down. Probably not going to mow much more this season.

Not sure what I will get into today

Everyone stay safe out there

Good Morning!!!! 68F @ 5:00AM. Abundant sunshine. High 93F. Winds light and variable.
Kinda makes me wonder how many other forecasters use the term "abundant sunshine"? They seem quite fond of the term these days, and though in the depths of winter I'll somewhat miss it, after a long, hotter than ever summer, it's gettin' kinda old. And now the chance of rain next weekend have dropped below 25%. While we're in dire straights for rain, I wouldn't mind if it held off just a few more days so I could sneak on one last camping trip during an Indian Summer (or is that now an unWoke term, too?).

I'm not a big fan of my local Kubota dealer, Rich, but I still give them a shot at most of my parts purchases because they're local and brick'n'mortar vs. internet based. They've surprised me in the past by having a part I needed in stock, but often as not they have to order it and I end up waiting a week to get it. I've also been known to tell them "thanks anyway" when they say they don't have it, and dial Messick's for the next call because I know it'll be here in less than a week and I don't have to go anywhere to go get it, and they still don't charge sales tax, which sometimes actually saves me a few pennies.

You're making some good memories with your daughter, Kyle. I still remember similar drives with my dad, almost fifty years ago now. 👍

That's a fairly alarming stastic, twobit. Mind sharing a link? Around here, at least, over 80% of hospital admissions are not fully vaccinated, and 92% of the ICU occupants are unvaccinated. But you're right to be concerned about the lack of tracking data; one of the MedCram videos I watched last week went to great lengths to show that the CDC isn't doing enough testing or record keeping to understand the real impact CV19, and especially the Delta variant, is having on this country. A quick google search for "MedCram YouTube" will get you to the video if you'd like to watch. With all due respect, though, I've learned to take anything coming out of Washington D.C. with a rather large grain of salt. Perhaps the same is true for what comes out of Parliment as well?

Once again, RS, I was exhausted after reading only the first half of your busy day's activities. No way I could keep up with you, but I wonder why you left out what you had for breakfast, lunch, and dinner?😳🤭😄

Yesterday's "Shoot With the Sheriff" event was another great experience, and it's unfortunate only a few concealed carrier permittees in California have the opportunity to benefit from training of this type. There were six training stations again, three of which were "force on force", meaning that you're confronted with an armed assailant. One was a video, which was very realistic, the other two were up against deputies playing the bad guy. The video had me armed with a laser pistol, the other two used a "simunition" that shot small paint balls. I got the electronic bad guy as he reached for his gun in the first one. In the second, I awoke at 2AM to find a deputized bad guy in my house, and since he wouldn't surrender, I had to go in gun blazing and take him out. The third guy had a pistol hanging out of his pocket, but never reached for it, and obeyed orders to go prone face down, then me and a buddy that had "just come home from the range" were able to disarm him without firing a shot. I failed the live fire accuracy test miserably, though. It consisted of 20 rounds where I was told to shoot one of three colored figures placed at 7 yards. When I heard the beep, I could raise my pistol to shoot, and hod only 3 seconds to fire two shots. I thought the red dot sight would be an advantage, but I had lots of trouble getting it on target initially, and almost as much doing so on the follow up shot, to the point that several times I ran out of time before the second beep. Each hit counted as 3 points, and my total was only 9 out of a possible 60. One of which was a hit on blue which was called for yellow, and really shouldn't have counted! In fairness, though, all three figures were on a typing paper sized target, and any bad guy standing behind it would have some serious problems. But the exercise did show a serious need for more practice. The day started at the first aid station, where we learned how to use a tourniquet tool, then watched a vivid demonstration on massive blood loss, and finished up learning how to pack a bullet wound with gauze to stop the bleeding. At the end of the day, the fella next to me said he had to leave before the closing raffle, and handed me his tickets. One of them was good for a gift bag from local reloader supplier RCBS, so I'll call him later today to arrange delivery. The best part of the day was being able to interact with the deputies, and even having a one-on-one conversation with the sheriff at lunch. It is very comforting to know such a well trained force has my back in these troubled times.

Not sure what else is on the agenda for today, but it's an opportunity rich environment.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend!

That "Shoot with the Sheriff" event sounds like a great idea and a good time for everyone. As far as I know, we've never had anything like that around here. I used to have to qualify twice a year on the police department, but that was just drawing and shooting 50 rounds at targets from different distances. I think the shooting I did at the FBI National Academy was more realistic than anything Dallas has had.

Good afternoon. Quite a blustery day here, clouds travelling over at a speed that doesn't give much chance of anticipating the showers. Decided to give up using power tools outside as it only seemed to be attracting more rain clouds.

They took no down payment, and when I asked about settling up yesterday, they said the boss never accepts payment until after the first rain, just to make sure 100% okay.
Wng what a remarkable roofing company.

We probably will never have anything like that here either. The police would be round in an instant to take away all firearms if they caught me even saying I would appreciate that sort of firearms training. :)

What a generous/lucky raffle gift RNG. You got me wondering what little gifts RCBS may have waiting for you. Electronic automatic powder scale and a set of matchmaster dies ? Maybe not though in these times of shortage. It has taken me over two months to get just a shellholder for a hornet case, the shelves in our gunshop have never been so empty.

Turns out the bag contained a t-shirt, beer can coozy, and a coffee mug, all emblazoned with the RCBS logo. But the company also donated an electronic powder scale, and another big box that I think included a case trimmer, and everyone that wanted one went home with a nicely ventilated baseball hat with an RCBS patch sown on the front. There was a rep from a gun shop located in Paradise, and her table was chock full of various powders and reloading tidbits. When I asked her about ammunition availability, she said her husband works very hard to ferret out new supplies to keep their shelves stocked. My last visit there showed that they did indeed have inventory, but they were so proud of that fact that I couldn't afford any of it and went home empty handed. Some would call it price gouging. In the future, if you get stuck for something else, I'd be happy to take a look around here for you to see if it's available. As I mentioned, RCBS is located only about fifteen minutes from here.

68°F and .13 inches rain.

Piddle around out back a bit, try to entice Makani onto the Mule, Kekoa will definitely go for a ride. Watch the Bucs / Patriots game. Basically an easy day.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

67F, wet, and cloudy @ 13:00, heading up to a high of 73F. We've had 0.21" of rain since midnight, chance of an isolated thunderstorm starting later around 18:00.

A "slow roll" for the day as Thomas would say, nice to relax a little and not feel like I have push it to take advantage of good weather.

Feeders need refilled so that will surely be on the menu. Also feed fish.

Place Amazon order.

Have one pallet of fertilizer/amendments/concrete that I need to remove from the garage and put in the back of the van to make room to work on the Kubota. There are four 50 lb bags of starter fertilizer currently in the back of the van that need added to it before I can put it in there.

Collect up filters/consumables up in the shop for Kubota service.

Clean and straighten up garage which is pretty messy at this point.

Possibly do a little housecleaning while I'm at it.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe Sunday ... (y)

Well, it was actually two days ... ;)

Breakfast and lunch are easy: I don't (typically, at least) eat them. Sometimes I do though.

Dinner last night was pizza from Guiseppe's. Night before it was ... leftover Chinese ?

Hope ya get some cooler temps, if not some rain to go with them.

Light rain here is making it look like an inside day.

Reading about your 2 patients Roy had me meandering down memory lane. When Sophie was in her car wreck we had a 6 yo, male boxer, usually 75-80 lbs. after a couple weeks I got permission to bring him into the hospital. As you well know, he was still an exuberant boxer puppy at heart and I was a bit concerned as Sophie was still in her hardware and limited movement. My concerns were unfounded. It was like he knew. Of course word spread and some days it would take half an hour from entrance to her room. So many others wanted a visit. It was like he became an instant therapy dog, his affect not only on Sophie, but the strangers along the hall. After coming home, Soph was another year in the hospital bed, but I never had to worry about leaving them together.

And of course we had multiple boxers when I had my knees down. They were never a concern, again, like they just knew.

As far a contradiction to Sen. Johnson’s claims, for those who claim to want the truth, does it bother you at all that the CDC cannot simply provide verifiable numbers of Vaxxed deaths vs non-Vaxxed deaths during anytime? That is simple information that should be available at their fingertips. It bothers me that we cannot seem to get that information from the CDC.

If a US Senator is raising the question and the government cannot provide concrete answers there has to be a reason that they can‘t or won’t.
A young engineer I work with (female), who's young husband is an ER nurse (how's that for gender perception), tells me of her husband's experience. He says that well over 90% of those admitted are unvaxxed.

My doctor just told me that 94% are unvaxxed, and the few vaxxed patients admitted, have major underlying conditions.

The real world I'm surrounded with, tells me what I need to know. And I have been called a "Missouri mule" upon occasion....even though I've never stayed in Missouri.

Morning all- sunny and warm today.
Showed my son how to drill and assemble the new brackets to hold the torsion bar on the Simplicity. Will be testing later. Looks like these should hold, 1/4" plates from a slightly newer Regent. The original holder wore out and the tranny tilted, loosening the belt.

Fun to get him acquainted with all the tools and had him do some drilling and put in the bolts.

This Lawn mower is for him to tool around the property.
Did the head gasket and valves with him last year and then the torsion bar mount wore through, so he only got to drive is once.

David - google translate- Kahu lumi nani is beautiful room attendant

Roy - I hope Margeaux settles back down soon- with the wife hurt and the new digs, sure to throw any dog for a loop

Found out the "Hemlock" is really snake root- while still poisonous , unlike hemlock won't give you a rash if touched. Much less worried about it now. So much for online experts and plant ID.

Wngsprd - hard scrubbing is a good workout. I need to do that on some areas that the pressure washer can;t get too. Not motivated to do so anytime soon..

BEF - sad to hear- our thoughts to their Dad.

RNG - that shootout sounds fun- training to find out your gaps is always great, and having fun while doing it, priceless. I have never been to something like that, but hearing my police friends describe their practice runs, it seems like you got a good subset of it.

Off to get lunch and then see if we can get the simplicity going and see how the torsion bar fix works.

Stay safe and be well.

Oh and the twins and mom are back and looking healthy:

I think that was the case, Ken. The deputies freely shared their experiences with the same exercises, reminding us that their equipment load is something like 50 pounds and they practice rain or shine and in temps that this past summer frequently were in the hundreds.

But I may have left out the most important part of the day! The Sheriff is a little bit of a showoff, and the department operates two helicopters. He made his grand entrance using the helicopter to buzz the facility at treetop height, with him standing on the skid outside the open door. The pilot banked the thing into a 90° turn so he was staring straight down looking at us just before the landing. All that was missing was Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries playing from the loudspeaker on the chopper.:ROFLMAO: Almost as remarkable, one of the helicopters was military surplus, and the other one was a donation from a very wealthy local. Both were refurbished and equipped using funds generated by events put on by the Sheriff's Posse, of which yesterday's was just one. It turns out they were also selling rides in the copters, and one young lady offered a thousand dollars if she, too, could ride outside on the rail. The Sheriff didn't have any trouble at all taking her money. They kept those helicopters in the air most of the day.

Sad to hear of their passing. Prayers for their family and your church family. We had an older couple both in the hospital at the same time. The family was called to come, but they both made it through. The lady came to church this morning for the first time in a while.

The long term effects of Covid are not good, and we still have a lot to learn and pray about.

Roy, hope your wifey gets to feeling better.

Billy, sadly the Aggies lost a heartbreaker. SEC play is tough. Next week, Alabama will have their way I feel.

RNG, sounds like a great day spent with the local sheriffs. Our new sheriff is also a pastor, retired from the highway dept, but his budget is very low for our county which has a low populace.

Hoping to take kids to the tennis courts this evening to hit the ball back and forth a bit. I will teach the young ones about "English". Eric, do the English call it themselves when applying a top spin on the ball?.....or is that a term used on our side of the pond?

Daughter played bass in church today. We had a good turnout....the best since Easter.

Buckeye, sorry for loss of your friends.

happy to see post repair job was still attached, headed back later this week to sand, caulk and mortar.
Date on Meetinghouse is 1723, no idea how old that post is.

SIL made me some yummy gaspacho from my own tomatoes. That made for a fine lunch though a bit spicy.
Then mowed the lawn and called it an afternoon.

I saw some unexpected red flowers in the lawn and went to investigate. Not flowers at all. Mushrooms.
Very pretty mushrooms, never have seen them before. Probably poisonous as can be.
