Good evening all. 61F for the start, 1 inch in rain gauge, overcast, calm wind. Light wind day, overcast thinned late afternoon, and high temp was 70F. Carp removal day, went to dam launching ramp because not sure low water bridge ope with all the rain. Several people who had said they would help failed to show. Slow start, not as many carp this time, weather and water conditions are the prime suspects. Still got about 175-200 carp for day, about half the previous removal day. No nap, got home too late. Wife made meatballs for dinner, yum.

Evening.

62F and partly cloudy @ 23:00, headed down to an overnight low of 58F. Rain is due in tomorrow, possibly starting at 06:00.

Got the lower front and all down around the house aerated yesterday. Ground is starting to look like Swiss cheese ... (y)

Cooked some burgers on the grill for dinner which were good, I had two ... plus some of The Woman's mac salad.

Refilled hopper feeder late yesterday, by this evening it was empty again. Also put out 10 mealworms today in the front feeder and 10 in the back.

Today started off with a bang - squirrel fried himself on our transformer and tripped the fuse/breaker up at the road. Took power company a couple of hours to get out here and reset it.

Fortunately, the first cup had already been heated in the microwave and served ... (y)

Started doing a little weeding on the northwest planting bed while I waited for him to show up. Soil very moist.

After that I finished tightening up all the bolts on the Chapin spreader, while The Woman worked on her plants and the entryway.

Then I filled up the water buffalo and washed out friend's spreader.

Mowed an outline in the upper front for The Woman to mow inside, after she finished mowing I did the edges/trimming.

While she was mowing I did some additional spraying and emptied the tank. Got the area in front of the shop done, still have more to do though ... once it stops raining and dries out some.

Finished spreading screened soil this evening around exposed root problem area near northeast planting bed and got grass seed sown before the rain starts tomorrow. Also watered previously sown seed so it didn't dry out and got it covered with straw. Will need more straw ... but Woman very happy old scraggly-looking half bale of straw from last year now gone from front of house ... (y)

Rearranged things in the garage and moved table, then consolidated lime and fertilizer onto a single pallet and moved that into the garage, followed by the Cub and the spreader. Retarped other pallet outside until I can clean up fertilizer from broken bag.

Came in around 21:00 and had some fried rice The Woman had fix along with some Mac salad.

Fed fish and banana worms after I ate and moved pressure washer inside.

Got the lower front and all down around the house aerated yesterday.

48 and change on Cub clock, 2311 on the 2910 ... some maintenance on the horizon.

Hope everyone had a good couple of days ... (y)

Belt went back on mower without issue.
Made a PO run, picked up a Sound Bar for the TV that went silent, a Charge Controller for the solar panels I got last week for my green house project. Only had a 12 vdc on hand and panels are 24 vdc. I’l still connect to a 12vdc battery.

Made good progress in container.
IMG_2428.JPG

Would have really liked to get the last 2 sheets at end (bathroom), but alas, ran out of gas. Knew it was time to quit when I went to install the last panel and discovered I hadn’t even marked out the microwave receptacle let alone cut it out.

Taking a serious relook at the range exhaust. Now that I have the cabinets in hand I can make a more informed decision. Favoring cutting in the vent at this point.
Thanks for all the compliments, it is coming together. Sophie was kinda showing off our work via Facetime to her sisters. 🤙🤙🤙

Dad enlisted as a volunteer in the R.C.A.F. 1942, his brother was rejected because he was honest and told them he'd had Scarlet fever. He went to the Army the next day and lied, he went into the tank corps and Europe. Dad was at a 'secret' base in Northern Quebec. The mail for RCAF base Baggotville, Que. went to England and then back to Quebec. They both came home and got the volunteer service medal and the brother got the European service medal as well. Neither one would say much about the war.
Dad got treed by a bear when he tried to befriend a cute little black puppy. Momma bear was not impressed. His Sgt. friend scared it off with his Thompson.
After I was born, Mom made Dad promise NEVER to teach me about guns. He was a gun plumber (Armourer) the Air force, and an instructor.
My Grandfather on Dads side got conscripted into WW1 and transferred to the R.A.F., he was a Pilot Officer when he was mustered out at the end of that war.
May they all rest in peace.

My dad was in the artillery in World War II. He and three other siblings who
were old enough to sign up all came back safely.

His father was also conscripted in World War one.

It is so weird to think that my own father went through all of that stuff that we see in the movies.

This strange weather is confusing the birds. 2nd day of winter and the honey eaters are feeding babies in their nest. What is going on?

Poured first cup of coffee. 48° with mostly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 72° with clouds and PM rain. Got weed killer sprayed around buildings and driveway. Pulled a few weeds in gardens. Will work on weed control some more today.
Morning stretch.

Roy, prayers for a negative test.

Don, hope your knee gets better.

LS, wish I had a magic wand to fix your continued knee problems.

David, more progress.

Everyone stay safe and healthy.

Good Morning All.

good morning all

Roy hope you feel better today

57 going up to high 70's today, a little cooler in cloudy weather before strong storm system comes through tomorrow.

I'm off to see Bridget shortly aka Helga The Torturer. Think I'm going to be using an ice pack when I get home.

47 right now...high in the upper 70's

Felt better yesterday, but pretty achy and weak this morning. I know part of the problem is I'm not eating enough. I'll get the food in front of me, take a couple bites...that's it. Drinking a lot of water though.
I'm up this early for a morning meeting...after that, it's going to depend how I feel...

60 and 81 are today's numbers. Cloudy now, should lad to rain late.

Kyle, sorry about your daughter's accident. Glad you got her home safely. She'll have tales to tell of how she got that scar. I went to a couple of those BYOT junkyards looking for a part for my 4Runner...they had only 2 of my model type, and had been reduced to bare skeletons. I was only looking for a bracket clamp to hold down the battery and refused to pay the dealer $40. No luck, so I made my own by cutting, bending and drilling an old piece of hollow aluminum rod to fit. But it was fun to see all the old vehicles, some with lots of parts left...I guess they were less desirable cars.

I hope you guys with knee problems are on the mend. Don, they need you on the trail crew!

Finally went to see a surgeon yesterday to see about getting my hernia repaired. I've let it go too long, but was always "too busy" to have to go the 6 weeks recovery without lifting over 10 lbs, going hiking, or driving the tractor, etc. I had this same hernia "fixed" in 2001, so this doctor's gonna use some polyester mesh and do it laparoscopically. Gonna wait until after my son's wedding later this month. Guess I'll have to teach my wife how to drive the zero-turn and let her in the secret of how much fun it is.

Kyle hope your daughters injuries heal well. I have scar on back of my leg from barb wire when I was about 12. Ended up at hospital from infection. My mother used Mercurochrome on original cut. Did not stop infection.

/ Good morning!!!! #133,893
Good morning! No rain yesterday 50% chance today, 65˚F cloudy.
Knee is feeling better, it's now possible to straighten it, but will wait a few days before I cancel Drs. apt. He's on vacation till the end of the month anyways.

Park cedarcide is canceled so I can rest the knee another day. It has rained more at the park than here, about 6" the last 5 days and the park ranger advised it was too muddy to free up some grand Oak trees.

Wife did a good job of mowing yesterday, I was able to hobble around and do the weedeating.

Today I need to prep the car for a road trip - check oil/gas/tires , and just maybe harvest the potatoes if the raised bed is dry enough and the rain holds off.

Kyle hope your daughter does not get an infection and is current on her tetanus shot. Just remember common sense is an accumulation of life experiences and she just got another lesson.

Good stretch pic Ron.

David, I too vote for a kitchen vent to outside, but then we cook a lot and it helps keep the house cool and the humidity down. We at least have no oily film ever on the vent since no oil or meat is cooked, but we do dump a lot of steam from the Instant Pot.
Nice puppy pic.

uess I'll have to teach my wife how to drive the zero-turn and let her in the secret of how much fun it is.

Just had a brief downpour, looked at radar, one small green spot and it wasn’t even over my area.

The secret soon to be out. I love mowing with my zt, kick myself for not getting one sooner.

Good morning. Low temp was 49 and high will be 73°F. Wind W 3 mph. Sunny with some cloud.

I am looking at new mowers and have almost settled on a zero turn. Dealer is only 15 miles north of me, he says for the cheapest model is $5330.oo CDN. I don't know if that is all in or plus tax. A Country Clipper is made in Iowa. All I know about them is they have a Kawasaki 18 hp motor and the deck will flip up to the vertical for maintenance. Seller says it will handle going up a 45° angle without flipping backwards. I will have to wait until next spring to get it.
Does anybody have any experience with Country Clippers and Kawasaki motors?

This waiting for my truck to get fixed is getting real old real quick.

Have a safe day all

Does anybody have any experience with Country Clippers and Kawasaki motors?

My kubota has a Kawasaki FS730V. There are different models of Kawasaki motors.
And there are differences in models of hydraulic motors they use. They all are built to a price point.

Good Morning.
Its 60 and headed up to 75 today.
High overcast, but little chance of rain today. Thunderstorms are expected tomorrow.

Got some chores and grandson time in yesterday before I had to head out to airport. Trip to Ohio went well, no weather to deal with, headwind westbound, quick flight home. Claimed into bed before midnight.
While I was waiting in Akron, I continued my grapple research and placed and order for am EA “Wicked Root Rake Grapple”. They have an interesting business model, payment in full up front, 14 week build time. They advertise “free delivery”, but that is to a terminal over an hour away. It’s $110 to actually deliver it to me. When I asked the if they got a lot of whining about their policies, he said yes, but they order anyway. It appears to be about the best grapple for my needs, and they don’t really have any negative reviews, so I ordered it.

Im picking up 50lbs of pork for Friday nights smoke today, I’ll get it trimmed and rubbed, so I can get the smoker started up Friday night. Hopefully finish up a speaker and get it ready to ship today, not sure what else the day will bring.

My ExMark Lazer has a 27hp Kohler, I bought it used, it was in excellent condition, but the engine burned oil. I used it for a season and then replaced the engine with a new one. I thought about switching to Kawasaki, as I think that they are better, but decided to go with the Kohler as it was a slam dunk change with all accessories and wiring being the same.

/ Good morning!!!! #133,900
Morning all, over cast, rain is back tomorrow.
Did get some bushes pruned, a few hundred feet.
Went to do a fire bush by the pool, it's about 15 feet tall and very wide
Suddenly notice a lot of hornets. Almost put the trimmer through the nest
seems they got confused and did not get me, but went after the trimmer.
Last night sprayed the nest will check later to verify it's not active.

RS- so the chapin is all together and working now with the new parts?
Does fried squirrel taste good?

Sodamo- the project looks good, can't wait to see how it looks with the cabinets in place. Those pups are so cute!

Check- glad the family came home from war, ours was lucky too in that respect, most did not see battle or stayed on ships. Have lost a few friends I worked with in the air force. remember them well and think of them especially on memorial day.

Stay safe and be well
