Eric, do owls prey on ravens at night? Maybe you could get the owl box plans from Drew.

57F and mostly cloudy @ 12:15, heading up to a high of 59F supposedly. Winds were calm, but have now picked up. Tail end of Ten Day shows four days of showers, with about an inch of precipitation expected.

Squeak managed to climb down inside the empty Chapin spreader box a little bit ago ... and then became very frantic when she discovered that getting back out was a more difficult proposition. Woman rescued her by tipping box over.

Woman just left to go do some running around, but called to make sure I knew that I wasn't to do any soil testing until she got back to supervise ... Probably take another day for the cores to dry anyways.

Probably head out here in a few to start mowing and aerating, see if I can't at least get the front finished up today.

Need to get golf cart unloaded out of van today for sure, as about out of time to pick up the last Menard order I placed (time flies) ... although I guess I could use her car since it really isn't all that much.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day ... (y)

64°F and .72 inches rain

Went to dinner with our LA friends to a new restaurant in town, WSW which stands for Whisky Steak and Wine. Total renovation of previous space. This used to be our goto, special night, seafood buffet place. Guess they consider themselves a premium place given the prices. Many in our group have been curious and last night the 1st foray. We had the Maine lobster OK, but disappointing. I seriously doubt they were fresh cooked from live. If I had to guess I’d say they were from frozen. Mine was dry and on tough side ☹️ the loaded baked potato was excellent though. Our friends had lamb and steak and said it was good, so maybe I made a poor choice. Guess I’ll save my lobster taste for our usual place where you have to preorder it for them to have on hand.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Definitely

Or better yet refusal of getting an available shot means denial of medical support for Covid 19.

While I can agree for the most part, I can see this becoming a can of worms with only the lawyers winning. Soon, those effected would no longer die from covid, always something else.

55 and blackberry winter here, too, Buppies. Should see 64 when the sun peeks out later.

Mo, glad you had a good trip to Little Rock. I like cities about that size, too.

PJ, with a fence that nice, you need some sheep like Eric!

Mostly, sorry your ride got rained out.

Just got back from my mom's after an unplanned night there. Drove down early yesterday and took her to her favorite seafood restaurant on the Bay. Late in the day we headed back home and got stuck in terrible traffic...then couldn't find a single gas station with any fuel. Took 45 minutes to make a 4 mile loop back to my Mom's while our low fuel light came on.

We really messed up...we were late leaving home on the way down, so skipped getting gas, and unfortunately my wife had been in a hurry the day before and didn't fill her tank when running across town with our soon to be DIL. We were so busy with company over the weekend that we hadn't followed the news, so wondered why there was a long line at the one gas station we passed on the way to lunch yesterday. Well, we found out the hard way. Apparently everybody else had heard about the hacking of the Colonial Pipeline that supplies gas from Houston to New Jersey. Then our governor declared a state of emergency, which caused many people to leave work at the same time and hoard gas, like TP.

Last night I learned that the GasBuddy app not only shows gas prices but whether the station even has gas...so I downloaded it on my nearly dead-battery phone at 5am and found one WaWa station with gas that I could get to (on fumes)...taking a risk that the app was correct...not sure I'd have enough gas to return...at 6am they already had a long line. Filled up and felt better than a kid on Christmas morning.

Once we got across the bridge tunnel and out of the cities, we took some back roads to pick up Coco at my son's house (who we called last night and asked to feed and give pills) and found about half of the country stores and town gas stations still had gas...and no lines like down in the city.

Lesson learned, again...always fill up and hit the bathroom before getting on the Interstate.

Looking forward to a nap after not sleeping well on my mom's couch.

wngsprd;; two rules for seniors and they can be adapted to gas stations as well. (1) never pass a gas station when less than 1/4 full or never pass a bathroom and (2) never trust a fart.

Took 45 minutes to make a 4 mile loop back to my Mom's while our low fuel light came on.

I found out that my 2006 tundra has more than 5 gallons in the tank when the low fuel light comes on. Of course given the best mpg of 17 going downhill with a tailwind that isn't all that much range but it is good to know where you stand.

Guess I’ll save my lobster taste for our usual place

I would say the best place to get lobster is Maine but they say the water is getting warmer so the lobster may taste better further north. My sister used to buy lobster from this salty old fisherman who fished in deep water off shore. He said his lobsters were the best.

She (DIL) likes the hospice, just have to wait until somebody dies. They are full. The good news is that they have been in operation since 2012, so they know what they are doing. They are also about 1/2 mile from Huntsville hospital.
I wonder how far they are from a crematorium. She wants to be toasted when all is said and done.

After I pick the right six numbers tonight, I think I will get me a new to me Packard. It was a huge debate with myself, new to me Packard Clipper Super Panama or a '37 Rolls Royce Phaeton.

Definitely agree, but then I was born and grew up in Maine. Lobster was always a treat. We have a deep cold water facility on the Kona side of the island that does Maine lobster. We do have a restaurant in town that features lobster on Tue night, but you have to preorder on Sun.
We cannot order live lobster flown in, just precooked.

Some of the best lobster I’ve ever had come from the deep channel off the NC coast.

49F and clear @ 21:30, headed down to an overnight low of around 36F supposedly. Frost advisory issued.

Made progress on lower front as far mowing and aerating goes, but I left some (less than 10%) for tomorrow afternoon at the bottom as it was still very wet. But got upper front finished, also all around the house (east, south, and west) ...

Also got compost/wood lot mowed (won't aerate that)

Called Chapin and asked that they email me when spreader parts ship. She took my email address ... and then said the parts are slated to ship this Friday. Seems like the timeline is slipping ...

Fish did not get fed today. The J. ornatus is MIA in the living room tank ... very odd ... maybe The Squeak has been fishing ?

Have not seen hummingbird since the other day. Very busy out at the other feeders today though.

Had that Thai chicken again for dinner, and Sloppy Joe for lunch. Both very tasty.

Items for this evening's agenda: feed white worms, finish and place small Amazon order, finish and place small Menards order, start disassembly of spreader.

Hope everyone had a great day ... (y)
