well good morning little Yellow Bird and you too Ron.

going to be a nice day here for next few days at least, low 40's out now going up to high 60's in sunshine.

within two hours of submitting my church reopening protocol to the group, it was approved with thanks and sent out to most of church.
Hopefully Memorial Day will be our first opening and despite distancing, no socializing, no shaking hands, etc etc, we hope to make a celebratory party
out of it. Once we get back to inside worship we will really focus on technology, hybrid meetings, etc. There are several folks from far away, including a good friend of
mine in Berlin, that have found Zoom to be super helpful. I don't like it but whatever works and for sure better than nothing. Part of our new normal.

am getting a little depressed over this shoulder. Two weeks later sitting here, pain is throbbing away in shoulder, just taking forever to heal.
No more pain pills but sure see the attraction... and now my right shoulder hurts a little from overuse favoring it.
We really don't heal as fast as we used to...

might go out and look at riding mowers today. Very little on Craigs List.
Just doesn't seem to be a good time to buy much of anything, shortages and price increases all over the place.
ah yes, Covid Excuse # 139...

Morning all! 38 here going to a windy 58.
Tried to move some soil with the tractor and promptly sunk into the ground. Ended up making some deep ruts that will need to be taken care of if and when the ground dries out.
Things are greening up around here but my lawn is toast from winter damage, grubs and the wetness. Not sure what we will have to do to bring it back.
Price of pellets is going up as fast as gasoline and diesel fuel. I ordered 3 tons at $20 per more than last year a while ago so am happy with that. Should be delivered next week.
Medically my wife and I are stable right now. I had another camera check the other day and am waiting for results from the doctor.
My other summer projects are on hold till these crazy prices come back to some kind of normal.
Hope everyone stays safe and healthy!

IMHO the incentive is already out there. Public Health.
It’s personal choice to get the vaccine, I respect that. Even more so if there is a valid medical reason not to.

It’s also a personal choice to accept all the benefits that have been made available, stimulus checks, PPE, unemployment plus ups, non eviction protection, tax benefits, etc, etc. if you personally chose to accept one of those then that choice should include getting the vax unless a valid medical exception. Maybe next year the IRS can have a validation question.

One thing that ticks me off is the media. Almost nightly our news will interview someone choosing not to get vaccinated. One of the latest: “Well, I’m over 40 years old, only gotten the flu twice my whole life. So I’m pretty healthy. I don’t see a need to get vaccinated” end of interview.
Never does the interviewer ask about protection of other people.

NOTE - And if ANYONE choses to make this into a political comment vs health safety I definitely will not respond.
Definitely
It's already happening here in Shasta County. I heard on the news today that you got a $25 gift certificate if you got your shot. That's tragic when you stop to think that back in March, people were paying a hundred times that to skip to the head of the line. Maybe it's time we just stepped back and let Darwin take the lead...
Or better yet refusal of getting an available shot means denial of medical support for Covid 19.

Good morning, low 35, high 63°F. Wind N 6 mph. Sunny! Finally we get some decent temperatures.

Off today to check out another hospice, this one in Huntsville, ON. Huntsville is about 40 minutes South of me.
When we get back from there I WILL be cutting the grass.

I charged up my camera batteries yesterday in preparation for a summer of trucking and shooting.

Covid shots wont be available up here until at least September is what the pharmacist told me the last time I asked. If I manage to score one on the road, then I will go for it.

I saw that yellow bird and thought of this:

Have a safe day all

Good Morning
It’s 42 with a high of 64 coming.
Clear skies for the day as well.

Yesterday was a good day, spent time with grandson, rode the trials bike, visited with old friend that is doing renovations to son’s house as well as getting some finishing done on the speaker in progress. Never got the mulch, as the beds weren’t ready yet.

Today I get to spend some quality time with FAA inspectors auditing my records. Once that’s over, I’ll get a load of mulch and make some more progress on the speaker.

finished my research. Only two makers of riding garden tractors available locally with power steering are Simplicity and John Deere.
JD is 500 more at list, has longer warranty and Kawasaki engine. Simplicity Broadmor has Vanguard engine
For my purposes which is only grass mowing just don't need a lot of hp but need cruise control and power steering.
Off to Pipersville L&G/Kubota and Littles/JD dealer in Silverdale. Will drive right past Popgadget's home on the way and will wave.
Unfortunately Kubota's small mowers don't have power steering option. BX or 1 Series JD just too large and want gasoline for this.

I'm going to go in cold and see what kind of service I get.

this is all in the name of necessary upcoming physical therapy on my shoulder. ;)
Maybe I can get an RX for a JD X390...

Mornin all, Sunny and chilly.
Got the tractor out and cleared out more brush towards the property line.
30 foot or so branch fell right near me (zoom in to pictures to see).
These Ash trees are really starting to come down.
Have a few leaners that are > 70 feet tall and big base.
Wife heard this fall back in the house. Or maybe that was a few of the no bark dead trees I fell.
Used pole saw for that, M18 working well so far.

Drew-I have a simplicity from the mid 90's that I still use and beat up. Had carb replaced last year and change oil etc.
It has the Vanguard engine. If they still make them like they used to then it's a beast. Don;t know much about the JDs.

Stay safe and be well.

45°F and partly cloudy this morning, going up to 66° today. We had a brief passing shower about 05:00 this morning, which only lasted long enough to get the dogs wet while they were out doing their business.

Got the pasture mowed last night after work. Fence contractor finished up around noon. Did pretty nice work.

When I was almost done with the mowing, I'd stopped to pick up a large rock that had been unearthed during the fence installation. Chucked it over into the swale area, and when I got back on the mower, it died as soon as I moved the levers. It kept doing the same thing over and over. I walked back to the barn and got the rider to tow it up to the barn. Turned out one of the safety switches on the right lever wasn't disengaging when the lever was moved from the brake position. It didn't seem to be pivoting correctly. I wiggled it back and forth quite a few times, and it eventually started working. Need to take a closer look at that this evening, and maybe give all the mechanical joints there a good shot of Ballistol. Hopefully it's just dirty and binding up.

Or better yet refusal of getting an available shot means denial of medical support for Covid 19.
... or denial of medical care after auto accidents for people who don't wear seatbelts or obey the speed limit laws.
... or denial of medical care for diabetics who don't eat what others tell them to eat.
... or ...

Where does that stop? That's a slippery slope I'm pretty sure we don't want to tread upon.

Good Morning!!!! 70F @ 7:45AM. Mostly sunny. High 96F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph.

Just got a drawing of the new water tank, and it's a big 'un. 12' in diameter, 14 1/2' tall, 3500 lbs. 😳 Hopefully be here next week. Got ahold of the plumbing guy yesterday, and he's working on a list of parts I'll need. Probably have that today or tomorrow.

I'll start the day trying to mow the rest of the lower meadow, after first laying out a hose nearby just in case the dry grass should start on fire. I don't think that'll take long, and if today's a burn day, I'll start working on all the slash. Won't know that until 9AM when they update the clean air web site.

Hump Day!?!

Looking, I am sure you can get a shot in Huntsville pretty quick, as the supplies are really ramping up right now. That is probably where I am going to get my second shot, as it is only about 40 minutes away from me, too.

Good morning. 43 or so, going up to maybe 50 today. Expecting the blackflies to show up.

Have to get the rental cottage ready for our first renters, who are coming on the 20th. Still have a bit of work to do on the sink, and reconnecting the stove receptacle. Also some floor painting inside, in time for the spring cleaning and installation of the mattress pads and what not.

If there is time, more smoothing of the springtime ruts, and maybe adding a bit more fill on the driveway.

Meanwhile, Ontario and 2 other provinces have “paused“ the administration of the AstraZeneca vaccine as first shots. In Ontario (where I live), this is mainly due to lack of supply, but gov’t people are fussing about this “clotting” issue. What a bunch of baloney! We take a much greater chance every time we get on our tractors!

No problem. I have already had my first AZ dose on March 20, and will get whatever is offered for the second dose. (they are now talking about a “mix-and-match“ strategy for second doses, whereby you might for example get a Pfizer for your second shot - works for me!

Have great day everybody, and prayers for everyone who is hurting!

Good afternoon, we are having a lot of showers this week, most of them start within a minute or two of me stepping out of the door. These are ideal conditions for the Ladys Smock to come into flower

Lightning has taken out the power a few times recently, the longest yesterday was just shy of an hour. I had fancied a bit of fly fishing after reading about Mostly's catch, but this is probably not the best time to go waving a carbon fishing rod in the air.

As I walked by the wetland this morning I spooked a raven in the process of raiding the nest on tiny goose island. These birds are so vicious, they seem to have no trouble overcoming a very maternal mother goose. Not sure if she was harmed, but she did manage to get back on the nest.

We removed about 2K pounds of carp. Pic was 1 of four loads we transfered to FEL on tractor that buried them
That would be Ker-ching time here, carp that size sell for about 5$ per lb.

PJ, those look very good box strainers. Curious as to why the contractor used 4 strainer posts next to one another on a straight section, instead of just 2 with cross diagonal wires ? There must be some reason, other than giving extra time to play with a Bobcat :)
