Good morning all. 72F going to 94F and sunny, HI(?). Mow and trim today

Good Morning! 75˚ heading only to the high 80˚s. More rain is predicted today! We have had rain the last three days with a total accumulation of 3.22"! With the first rain drops Sunday, a lighting bolt took out the internet service, but we are up again! The desert has a tinge of green this morning!!!!

It's 71 F here and overcast, but the sun seems like it could pop through. We might catch a shower or two, but we had the remnants of the storm that passed over you as it moved NW last night. We picked up another .3", so that leaves us at 3.1" for the entire event. It looks like my old beat up rotary cutter is gonna get to shred more grass soon. Of course, my yard needs to be baled.

Don: When I had line-of-sight internet from a water tower in Alvord, I think the transmitter went down in every thunderstorm. That's why I went to the USB modem. Then, they put in DSL up to 4 Mb per second and it was a no-brainer to switch to that.

   / Good morning!!!! #12,426
Clear, 82 with 81% humidity. Forecast is for a high of 93 with 20% chance of rain. The lowest humidity we have had in over two weeks, so maybe today will be the day the rain stays away.

The cleaning lady came today, so I stayed around the house. I worked on cleaning and polishing the chairs and table we bought yesterday. There are a few small scratches, and a couple of wax spots, but it was still a deal. I might do a light sanding and then refinish. Or I might just leave it like it is.

Saw these place mats at the thrift store yesterday. My brother in law raises gamecocks, so I figured I would get them for him. When I turned them over and saw the apples on the other side, decided to keep them for us. We have three different sets of apple dishes and there was only four of our old apple place mats.

Total cost of table and chairs, plus place mats was $202. I'll leave it up to you to figure which one was $2.

Bill,

You give me hope. If a downright ugly old fart like you can find love, there must be hope for me and my fat almost 50 year old carcass that is about to get dumped onto the "Used Dad" lot (AKA the dating scene...)...

Thanks for being my beacon of (tawdry) light...
:D

JDgreen, don't turn out your red light.......

The freight would cut into your savings. We bought it two weeks ago, and couldn't get it home because of the rain. It was touch and go yesterday, if I would get home with it before the thunderstorm hit. But I got it in with only a few sprinkles.

Your dining table and chairs are simply beautiful...take that compliment from someone who is a dedicated Goodwill store shopper...you basically STOLE them at that price. I have done a lot of trim carpentry work and can tell you that just the oak lumber to build your set would have cost more to buy than you paid for everything shown. Congratulations on your great purchase.

My wife had shown me the pictures from a local yard sale site that is somehow hooked in with Facebook, and ask me if it was worth the money. I told her to send the girl an e-mail right then, telling her we wanted it. But the pictures she had posted on the site didn't do it justice. When we backed up under their garage yesterday and took the dust cover off, I knew it was a keeper. I figure the chairs alone are worth a hundred each. But cleaning and polishing all those little nooks and crannies was a job.

And I know about the cost of oak. Last year I had floor to ceiling bookshelves with a window seat built into the end of my library. My contractor was going to throw the scraps away, but after what I had paid, I saved it all.

Good morning folks.

We seem to be having somewhat of a heat wave here in Scotland. It is nothing compared to you guys in America and Canada, but for us it is pretty extreme! Apparently it's the hottest summer since 2006.

Got absolutely nothing to do today so I'll probably just while away the hours until tomorrow when I actually do have some errands to run etc...

Hope everybody is well.

What is this heat wave like? How bad is it? Temps? Is there a lot of air conditioning or not so much because it's normally not needed? What do people do to stay cool?
