RS, hope you don't have too much difficulty getting the valves replaced.... I don't envy your project at all.... just because it involves plumbing... I hate plumbing!

Hopefully won't have to actually replace any of them, just rebuild.

Sure would be nice to have some new 1/4 turn ball valves in there though ... but that could get kinda pricey, considering that it would probably require copper unions as well.

The thing I hate the most about this, is just the working in confined spaces.

There a big electrical cable that runs within a couple of inches of that one valve and it's live. No real way to move it much.

Pretty sure don't want to be melting the insulation off that ...

Good luck on the finishing ...

Good morning, the temp is a chilly -5°F and going to 10 above. Wind E 11 mph. A mix of sun and cloud.

I have nothing planned for today.

Eric; The senior judge, Pru leith, is 80 and has just been shown smiling while she stood in line waiting to receive her jab and then afterwards saying it was painless.
I am more concerned with the side affects. Remember Thalidomide.

Have a safe day all

I remember, as I imagine those age appropriate do.
Your post prompted me to explore.
For perspective Thalidomide scandal - Wikipedia
Challenging to learn that Covid19 kills more people in a week than the total scandal and we are still learning of possible long term covid effects.

27 outside this AM. Heading to upper 30's. Nothing on the weather .....yet.

Ran around town yesterday. Not much planned today, except feed the fireplace.

I recall in my youth, walking down to the local pharmacy and buying all sorts of chemicals. I also recall a friend of mine blowing a hole in his parents house roof, that shook the neighborhood. I bet we all had one of those friends. Heck, some of us probably were "that guy".

Hope all have a great day. Be safe, especially with the weather conditions, and stay healthy my friends.

I’m probably the only guy on here to pack match heads in a chuck of pipe then light it off as a ground surface rocket. Pre Sputnik days, didn’t know I wassupposed to point it up.

well since the vaccine is using gene therapy of some kind, if it malfunctions and we slowly start turning into a vampire
or a six headed slimy lizard from a far galaxy, I guess anything is possible. ;)
Medical folks have been battling flu and infectious diseases a long time. They are apparently using the latest and best technology here
to force our body to kill off the virus. And if there are side effects of that process, Bill has every reason to be skeptical. Pretty sure the stats
here are very, very good. But there is that old saying that Time Will Tell.

My hand is sure raised up.
I want to get back to dinner parties and hugs and cruises to the islands.

Good points, Drew.
Maybe need some mathematical/ statistical help.
What are the chances to get Covid if not vaccinated?
What are chances to get Covid if vaccinated?
What are chances of Covid related reactions.
What are chances of vaccine related reactions.
If you have a vaccine reaction how does that compare to getting a Covid reaction.

I’m sure any vaccine related reactions will be published to the nines, but they need to be put in perspective. If that perspective is negative we need to know also.

Wnsprd great to hear Coco is improving. No experience with canine CBD oil but sure helped Sophie and worth the cost.

A fellow I know gives his epileptic dog CBD oil and it seems to help. Only a few drops out of an eye dropper at meal times.
I use the human version directly on my buggered up knee and shoulder whenever the need arises. There is zero THC in the oil I use.

cbd oil really helped my sore hand/thumb joints

and as the snow comes down, the cranberry, raisin and pineapple scones
came out of the oven. Need to give them away pretty quick or I'll eat them.
Another homemade fruit pie now in oven, hopefully second time will be better.

Got tractor out a few minutes, mostly to turn it around to come out frontwards when this is over. IMG_7971.JPG

Gentlemen, rev up your engines, engage those snow blowers, drop those plows!

Roy, don't overdo it. At least you'll be staying warm.
snowing pretty hard out now, view out my window is into the woods, watching the snow accumulate
on the branches and frosting the trees in white.

Oooooh! I can't imagine it... :)

On the other hand, with all the rain we have been having I managed to knock out 2 very large tree stumps at last due to the ground being softer.
Much tidier.

RS, home depot sells 30% vinegar if you need more dissolve power. Most vinegar is 7- 10%.
Wngsprd, we gave Whipper some cdb oil to calm her down. It did not really work and just made her not care where she pooped - in the middle of a cement street.

Beautiful day to work in the park, about 15 people showed up so we had 4 haulers for every chainsaw. I like it when I can continue cutting without having to stop and pull branches to the piles. Went through 3 fill-ups on the Husqvarna chainsaw without a hickup.

Only freezing rain here about 1/4 inch of ice 32 degrees now refreshed tonight

Not in a pipe, we used spent CO2 cartridges and launched them out of a pipe like a mortar.

7” of snow and now freezing rain at 28°. It was a light fluffy snow, now it’s wet and heavy.

There were another 6 deer off to the left, just out of the frame ...

Will have to check and see what we have here.

HOT day there, don’t burn up.

I had cider in the fridge brewed like that, cloudy with sediment.

Oops, fat fingers...
Sediment almost expected in most fruit drinks I’d guess.
As explained this was the chocolate coming out of suspension. Also cherry, grapefruit and another citrus or two. Made a nice holiday change.

1st pic is about 3rd draw, after settling about 6 hours before hooking up. Yea, tried drinking some.
IMG_0287.JPG

This pic is about 10th glass, letting settle about 18 hours
IMG_2140.JPG

Was a bit unnerving to see beer fill the glass and suddenly a spurt of dark, almost mud out the spout.

Taste was difinitely off from sample.

As I’ve said before, my late wife was an infectious disease specialist. I learned a lot from her and simple reading. One thing is that it is physically impossible to get the flu from the flu shot, it’s small particles of a killed virus and cannot replicate. You can have symptoms similar to the flu for a day or so caused by your body’s immune system reaction. And if you were unlucky enough to have been exposed just before or after getting the shot, then it won’t keep you from getting sick. The old nasal spray vaccine could and did cause flu in some, it was a weakened virus, not killed, that’s why they stopped using it.

I see these new vaccines as being overwhelmingly safe and effective, nothing is 100%, but I will get it ASAP.

I have not gotten the flu vaccine on a regular basis ... but having had pneumonia really, really bad a number of years ago, I rethought that this year and went ahead and got the flu vaccine. Pneumonia is not something I want to go through again.

Other than having a little pain in arm where I got the shot for less than 24 hours, no adverse reaction.

I will get the vaccine when it is available ... barring any reporting of significant adverse reactions (which I expect there will be very little of)

I had pneumonia twice within a month last year, and got GBS the 2nd time I had pneumonia. Can’t get flu shot now. Not sure what they will say about CV shot. My Dr retired and I currently have no Dr.

The new ball valves with the sharkbite fittings seem to be fairly good.
My water softner was installed using all sharkbit fittings and a mix of copper and pex tubing with no leaks,
it's been in about 5-6 years now.

No soldering required, just a tubing cutter.
