Good morning!!!!

Haven’t caught up yet.

Woke up to pretty good rain in low 30s. Got .9” in all. Worked some at home waiting for the rain to lessen. Still raining good when I did go, and it turned to snow. Lots of water on roads, cars going too fast, some paid the price. One got smashed pretty good, it was on other side, must have rolled. Another guy in the medium facing backwards. Think he was still cleaning his pants.

Temps went down, then back up to 37° after it cleared up. We had snow on the ground, but it melted before I got home.
Another long day.
Have to go to NoVa tomorrow, down Rip’s way to Fairfax.
Already told them I won’t be in We’d in the snow.
Son went to the church building to utilize better internet to take a couple of finals today.
I just quit work at 9 pm.

Now to see what everyone else is up to.

Kyle is correct about Weikel's Bakery in La Grange. I stopped there, on Friday morning, for some sweet cheese kolaches and some sausage, jalapeño, and cheese.

Texas Toast. Many ways to make it but .. we've found the quick way is the "frozen" toasted in the air fryer at 400° for about 5 minutes. GD Maddie prefers Texas Toast .. over regular toast / jelly.

View attachment 679542
There's another brand of frozen but "New York Bakery Texas Toast" .. just seems wrong. (No offense Lou).

Rick, HEB has it wrong too, they are using french bread to make garlic toast and call it Texas Toast.....although I love garlic toast too....especially with Italiano food.
your pot of stew looks good.

Yes sir.... That was similar to my first time at a brisket. I invited all the kids over. So we were figuring on 10 of us. Well I misread, had a brain fart and underestimated the time for it to smoke.

I had an "underestimated smoke time" caused by frigid weather, which made me have to put it in the oven. WARNING- Finishing smoked meat in your oven will make your whole house smell like brisket, etc....Even if you use a dutch oven. I KNOW, it nearly got me a divorce.

Drew, I’m a big fan of Loctite PL premium urethane construction adhesive. I dispense it with a Makita cordless caulk gun and use these-
https://www.lowes.com/pd/Core-Gear-Caulk-Plug/4068073
to save the tube for the next use. I’m pretty sure that I showed it to you when you were here.
It’s a real hand saver.

You and RNG with all the cool Makita toys. Color me green eyed. LOL.

Good Morning TBN!

Big week for me. My 3rd Divorce should happen this week...

Won't be doing that again...

Moving on...

I made a minimal update on the Remodel of MossFlower thread.
Be well all!
David

Saving this post, in case you try to get crazy again.

I use SupplyHouse.com too.

1.28” of rain since 7, no sign of stopping, about 44°.

Doctor said other than the kidney issue all my blood work was fine. Both doctors think I’m too dry and I’m cutting one med and drinking more water, retest in about a week.

more prayers. Drink water, make sure no infection too.

Fired up wood stove that had gas logs in it. I am warm. But will cost a few extra buck for gas.
Ron, hope you get it fixed easy enough, and glad you have backup. Prayers for your son. Thank you for the pictures. Enjoy them.

GT80: Rings now saying delivery on 17th....cutting close before Christmas.

Last night, it was blowing up to 50mph and cold. Did not have to put any roof top chickens in coop, they all went in on their own. Tonight, cold, going to freeze but no wind....4 out of 8 chickens on the roof. Picked them up 1 at a time and threw them through the door......shut the door and locked it. Have a heater inside for them. Still getting eggs.

prayers for our team.

30F and mostly cloudy @ 23:00, headed down to an overnight low of 25F.

Sunflower tube feeders, squirrel, and deer feeder refilled.

Emptied the debris canister on the vacuum ... after fishing out one of The Woman's socks out of the pipe that she inadvertently vacuumed up (the morning drama ...)

Finished assembly on tile saw. Table seems tight (meaning no slop or play) Still need to verify the blade is square/perpendicular to the table and dial in the laser. Forgot to bring top combination square earlier, will grab it when I take the downstairs cat her midnight snack ... which will be shortly.

Scanned a document I need to send off for review.

Got shower seat cut down from 30" to 24" by running it through the table saw, cut through the little bit remaining with the jig saw. Then got the two sides with the cuts ground close to flush with a flap disc in an angle grinder, and cleaned that up with the orbital sander.

Measured for the twisted stud that needs replaced: 92 1/2". Took the 2 x 4 downstairs to trim it down on the miter saw ... then measured it to know how much to trim off: 92 1/2" ...

DOH !

Went ahead and took 1/32nd off just to be sure and to clean up the end. Can always sneak a drywall shim in if need be.

Removed second fixture in hallway to be replaced while The Woman was out doing the grocery shopping. And a little Christmas shopping from the looks of it:

Zoom Rotating Laser Cat Toy by PetSafe - PTY-16494

That Little Squeak meows at the toy every time it's turned on (and goes after the light), Missy was utterly fascinated by it (but didn't move off the couch), and Mister seemed somewhat alarmed and didn't quite know what to make of it ... he eventually slunk off back to the bedroom ... right now he's wandering around with his string, back arched up and meowing, rather pitifully ...

After she got back and we unloaded I ran to HF and grabbed some batteries and then swung by Ace Hardware and grabbed a tube of Lexel.

Dumped a bag of trash into the can out at the road on the way out and filled up The Woman's car on the way back.

Shower fixtures arrived in Middleburg Heights, OH about an hour ago ... so might get those tomorrow (which would be good), white bullnose tile is "In Transit" in Mesquite, TX, and the black accent tile shows "Shipped" in Edison, NJ.

All in all, a fairly decent day ... even if I wasn't able to clear all the undone stuff off the list.

Hope everyone had a great day ...

2020-12-15, 0300

28 right now...and then a cool down as the "high" temperature will drop to the low to mid-20's. The low tonight will be a bone-chilling 5 degrees.
Our snow forecast is really been up and down...initially 8", down to an inch, back up to 3-4 inches. Looks like PA, northern NJ and NYS (and city) will get the brunt of the storm...
I think I'll bring my laptop home the next few days...don't really want to drive 50 miles (that my daily drive, one way) in heavy snow...also, I'd like to ensure I get home!

You guys in the mid-Atlantic states...be safe!!!

Good morning, the temperature is 3°F and the high will be 9. Wind NW 6 mph. Sunny!
Tonight will be the first of the forecasted minus temps for this season. -6F

North Bay today, 10 stops. Should be home by 2 P.M. This trip was originally for cat litter only, 6 40lb bags of it.
I can only get this stuff from either North Bay or Huntsville (Pet Smart) or down in the city. If I know we are low, then I will get it in the city and haul it home, but I didn't find out until I got home and am not making a special 3-4 hour trip one way to get it, when NB is only 45 minutes up the road.

My compliment of cats is back up to six with the arrival of two kittens that were born in someones garage. The hard part was done, weaned and house trained.
Named them Spot and Grayson. Spot is the smaller of the two and he has already bonded to me. Grayson is a little more stand offish but really likes his chin scratches.

Drinking first cup of coffee. 16° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 30° with some clouds in afternoon. Did not get much done yesterday. Furnace stated putting out cold air again. Fired up wood stove that now has gas logs in it. House is 69°. Comfortable enough until furnace guy gets here tomorrow morning. Hope he has parts.
The get away.

RS, I did all the kitchen, bathroom and Livingroom remodels 10 years ago. I enjoyed doing it. But it was a lot of work.

MFW, I have watched those guys that climb like that. Definitely not my thing. 8' of the ground is to high for me.

Everyone stay healthy and safe.

Good Morning All.

Good morning, the ground may still be sopping wet from all the rain of the last few hours/weeks/months, but today we have enjoyed continuous sunshine since daybreak and at 11:00am there is still not a cloud in sight :dance1:

Phil, how did you get into all that intricate knot tying, were you a rock climber ?

Alien, whereas shepherds pie is mash over minced lamb, our meat and potato pie had a separate pastry top, with chunks of well cooked stewing beef hiding below amongst boiled potatoes and carrots. :licking:

It looked much like this, but the pastry was probably more stoggy

31 going to 43. Yesterday they said we'd get snow tomorrow, now just ice and rain.

Rained most of the day...1.34" here...had to take Coco to Richmond vet specialist during the worst of it. Roads looked like streams and ponds.

Morning all;
Well I hope all the East coasters stay safe in the forecast winter storm.
Guess I'll mount up the tire chains on the Branson this morning,
a high of 26F and 12-14 mph breeze we are only forecast for 1-3 inches of snow but I guess it's time to winter prep,
calling for 0 tonight and a high of 18 tomorrow before the snow.
Making a run up to a painter early this morning to pickup the roof and hood from one of the IH Magnums,
we removed all the body panels and take them to the painter got most of the pieces done and back already.
Took the hood and roof panel up last week to be done.
Mount at least one set of chains and top of the trucks fuel tank and does it with anti gell additive.
Then hopefully sit next to the coal burner and enjoy the heat.

28 outside this AM. Heading to mid 40's. Weather people are excited. Cannot seem to decide if we will get 1 inch of snow or 12. LOL.

I need to stock up on the firewood today. And go get some beer.

bef, we are about 50 minutes SW of Fairfax. Good luck on your trip. If you pass 28, wave south. LOL.

mfw, yeah, I have a friend that does that stuff. He climbs trees like a squirrel. I cannot watch him.

Looks like my porch is sparing the wild life from the weather.

wngsprd, yeah, we got a lot of rain up here too. Hope Coco is OK.

Hope all have a great day. Be safe and stay healthy my freinds.

Good Morning. 29 with a forecast high of 38 today. Yesterday brought us .33 inches of precipitation, mostly wet snow that mostly melted on ground contact. Forecast for tomorrow is for over a foot of snow.

Had a nice visit with my friend that brought my engine, mostly talking about our formative years and how different the things that we did then would be received now. Hint- a 12 year old could bicycle to the local gun shop and buy a pound of black powder and a roll of waterproof fuse and not raise any suspicions or questions.

Engine install went very well, the new engine fired right up and all systems work as they should. IMG_5363.jpg

I’m all ready for the snow equipment wise, but I haven’t placed the fiberglass driveway markers yet. That will be today’s task. In the past it’s always been a chore to hammer them into the stubborn ground. Yesterday simple tool for driving them into the ground, just a piece of 1” cold rolled steel bar with a hole bored into it to slip over the rod and contain the end to keep it from splintering and to provide a larger target for the hammer.

I had a few small tasks at the restaurant yesterday, i got there about lunchtime, so it worked out well roast beef wise.

As far as fuel burned while waiting for a clearance on Sunday, it was about $200 worth of kerosene.

Thinking about BBQ, there are so many regional variations, especially in pork, both ribs and shoulders. Same with sauces. I belong to the school that sauces should not be part of the cook, but can be added by the person consuming it.
I cringe if I get a rack of ribs or piece of brisket slathered with sauce, it’s typically hiding something. That’s not to say that I don’t like sauce, but it should be my choice what type and how much.

I’ve smoked a lot of meats and have come up with rubs and methods that provide what suits my taste, tempered from what I learned from sampling BBQ from all over the country and talking pitmasters if they’re available. I would always make a beeline for the BBQ in what ever city we were in. My favorites are Memphis ribs and Lockhart brisket. Strangely enough I found pretty good brisket (Including burnt ends) in Groton, CT.

Dennis, like your Christmas bird decorations. The view there is gorgeous.

Eric, that really does look good. Does it come with a complimentary "stent to go"?...
Pure comfort food, beef, grease, salt and pastry with some sweet vegetables inside.
I'm thinking English and vegan are oil and water, you need a "proper" dinner.
Certainly what I'm used to, except now I've learned it's truly not good for me.

I cooked some hamburger patties yesterday, first in a while, some woman's name like
Ruth's extra lean burgers, 93 percent lean.
Since I didn't overcook them, they turned out pretty good.
Before I would eat two. Now I eat one, along with a big bowl of vegetables.

Sure miss my gas grill. No door on rear of house so long walk to where I can hide a barbecue.
Local hardware store will deliver and assemble Weber grill for me, but trying to find a place for it has been
the challenge. If I leave the generator where it lives when not in garage, I would have the propane tank there
all ready to hook up to barbecue. I need to lay flagstone or something hard down in that corner. I may get the synthetic
flagstone, certainly would be easier to cut if need be.

speaking of a proper dinner...
Do the English eat their horses? Some cultures frown upon that.
Instead we made glue out of them. Hooves for the glue pot.
What animals are considered pets and what are considered dinner is an interesting conversation, one I bet many of the parents here
have had with their kids.

Always thought the guy who drove the dead animal truck had the worst job, and you just hoped you didn't get
stopped at a light next to one, or on a hot summer day behind one on a country road.

31 going to 43. Yesterday they said we'd get snow tomorrow, now just ice and rain.

Rained most of the day...1.34" here...had to take Coco to Richmond vet specialist during the worst of it. Roads looked like streams and ponds.

Hoping the best for Coco. I know it's tough, when your pup is hurting/sick. Prayers for your family.

rip, hope you figure out the best plan for the porch being a bit out of alignment. Hope birds don't poop too much on your porch.

popgadget, I remember when kerosene was cheap.....when commercial aviation wasn't. Hope your new motor in your Gravely lasts a good long time.

L4N, your spot looks like our Waffles.

I got to drive a scissor lift for the first time at work last week. Only had to go up about 15ft. Man, was that thing rickety. I was centered on my objective, but was leaning left and right to get a picture, and that thing was rocking +/- 8". I guess the best thing is to stay away from objective and only lean it in one direction.

Eric, that looks like good comfort food. Did your wifey just get tired of the repetition?

   / Good morning!!!! #123,699
Popgadget, thought about that nice feature of the Makita glue dispenser and decided
a couple extra rolls of paper towels were cheaper. I just have to have a wad of paper to put it down on
when done. I did buy that glue you suggested and
a tube cap with nail gizmo to try to keep the glue from hardening.

nice repower, good luck with it.

Enjoy the day all.
