74 and humid. I got soaked with sweat walking around this morning picking up sticks and branches from last evening's storm...we got just over an inch ...the first real strong storm this summer for us. I need to check the local news and learn if any local damage.

Ron, sounds like a very productive day.

David, thank for sharing about the Ohia...I was curious. Glad you're nearly complete. I'm drinking a Maui dry processed coffee today.

70°F and partly cloudy this morning, going up to 93° today. Nice sliver crescent moon and Venus just above the horizon this morning, too, with a bit of lightning in the distance to the east.

At work early this morning to get a part approved for an unhappy customer. Machine operator insisted it would be ready before he left yesterday, but that didn't happen, so here I sit for the last hour still waiting. Kids these days ... :muttering:

This rare working on a Saturday thing actually serves a wider purpose, as I can visit my old drummer from the Hagar tribute band today to deliver a quilt my wife finished for his wife. And, I get to see for the first time their new house they just had built out in Lake St. Louis.

Drew, it doesn't have to be pretty as long as it works. Better aesthetics will come with practice. My welds are hideous, too.

Little League championships going on in Williamsport. North State Little League team, representing SouthEast U.S. from just West of me in Greenville NC won yesterday with three
pitchers throwing a perfect game. Pretty remarkable since there aren't any bad teams in the championship. Greenville/North State must have a very good pitching coach.

Watched that one, was a good game, except the home plate ump was terrible. Very random strike zone.
Nice to watch the kids just have fun.

Last night we watched Hacksaw Ridge. I had seen the opening battle sceen before, but did not know the background to the story. Only when it ended did I realize it was based on the true story of a conscientious object called Desmond Doss. What an incredibly kind and courageous person he was.

I watched it last weekend for the first time. Good movie, liked it better than Dunkirk.
My oldest asked me if that was what it was like for his grandpa, my dad, who arrived on omaha beach a few days after Dday, as a replacement company. Dad says there were bodies everywhere on the beach when he landed, but they werent being fired directly upon.

I've been binge watching a series about the Russian's fight against the Germans in WWII. It was produced in Russia, and the maps they show are all in Cyrillic letters, but the story tells the perspective from the Rusky's side. Before the battle of Kursk, they dug about 5000 km of anti tank ditches. Enough to stretch all the way across Europe if they were made into a straight line. But they were done in concentric arcs on the western side of Kursk. I'm not exactly sure, but I believe a lot of them were dug by manpower. They had their backs to the wall and were trying to keep the Germans out of Moscow, while evacuating military industrial machinery and workers to the Ural mountains for safety. Eventually the weather and Soviet vast resources turned the tide and because of this, Britain was able to survive not being invaded.

Taking 2 youngest kids to go ride some small gage trains at Zube park northwest of Houston today. They have a nice facility there and today is free public day. Then will stop in Brenham on the way back for some swimming and maybe some Blue Bell ice cream.

I went to Airgas welding supply yesterday to see if they might could help me fix my 12 year old Radnor 45vi auto darkening welding helmet. No such luck without a bunch of money....So I just bought some 4 x 5 #12 lenses to be able to watch the eclipse. Bought a few other lenses, but they guy told me they were sold out of #13 and 14 due to the eclipse. I was able to get a couple of lenses to fit into the gas goggles we had at work , so peeps up there could see it.

Are any of you in the path of total eclipse?

75 outside, 90 expected. Late night, late start to the day. All yard work, done. It was a really humid day yesterday to be doing all that yard work, but it gave me at least 5 days of not worrying about it.

Girls all home, so it's a sushi fest day today at our favorite place.

Sun looks amazing out this AM. A great day indeed. In the path (eclipse) for the (I don't know percentage), seen one before so it's a non-event for me.

69 this morning and headed to 88 today. Some thunderstorms moving through this morning. Weren't in the forecast last night.

After the rain need to get some bags of concrete to put around post in the new working pen I'm building. Then back to digging holes and setting post. Using old telephone poles. Nice having 10 inch 9 foot post. They won't be moving.

According to this website we'll be at a 99.8% eclipse. And I need to go 7 miles for a totality. Some cities about 45-60 minutes from me will see a 2 minute 40 second eclipse. But those cities have had travel advisories out for them for months.

Kubota owners. Does anyone have trouble with their Kubota picking up a 3pt. post auger? Mines a MX5200 R4 tires. Lift maxes out and the tip is still dragging the ground. Lift arms are in the high setting. Auger is in lowest top link point and auger lift pins are in 1st hole.

Also will third function valves run an auger or are they only for grapples? Only ever been around third function on skid steers.

The low this morning was 42*, yesterday's high was 85*. No showers in sight for the next few days temperatures staying in the 80's. Not a cloud in the sky this morning.

Not sure what's going on to day. I'll see if the grandkids want to do something. We have them tell Monday, their mom is coming up Sunday. Then we are all going about 170 miles north of here to see the eclipse Monday morning . I'm hoping everyone has forgot about this part of Wyo. Where I hope to go is about 30 miles from the nearest town.

68F and mostly cloudy @ 10:30 ... just had a bit of rain (0.04") ... enough to wet the pavement but the ground under the trees is still dry. Sure hope more develops throughout the day, but chances aren't real high. Next best shot will be this coming Tuesday.

Got tasked with cleaning up the grill yesterday and cooking dinner so nothing further got done around here.

She pulled down the driveway just as I was taking the burgers off the grill ... good timing ... :thumbsup:

Probably work on SSQA repair today.
