68°F and foggy this morning, going up to 90° today.

Good luck with the welding project, Drew. That looks like a tough one.

Turned 51 today. Doesn't really feel any different than 50 did yesterday.
Happy Birthday.

Had about 1/4" of rain today, but the water level on the side and front still dropped noticeably today. I'm hoping I won't need the periscope to mow in a coupke of days.
Warm, humid and cloudy when it wasn't actually raining, sun came out late.

US Air is replacing all the turboprop commuters at our airport with jets, they are much quieter.

Happy B-day PJS! Hope your having a great day.

Eric, pics of shotgun please. What brand? I'm a shallow pool shotgun connoisseur. I have shot some very expensive ones that I can't even spell correctly now. Not mine...but neat to shoot. I only own cheaper Remingtons.... I had a room mate once that was a shotgun "nut". Another old friend shoots a 16 gage and when I asked him "why"? He replied, "That way, when I show up to hunt birds with all my buddies, I don't have to worry about them swiping my shells." I laughed.

Nice pit Ron. Tell Betty hope she feels better soon.

Nice write up RS.

RNG, interested to hear how the capacitor on the LCD works out. Maybe a pic of the repair. I have an LCD hour meter on the 5420 that has stopped displaying some time ago.

Drew, watch out for those Africanized Bees. You might have a hive nearby. Deadly if you accidentally come across it and disturb them. Better hope you're in your cab or close to the house to slam the door on them. Lawn mowers and shredders piss them off the most.

PJ happy 51 birthday!

Drew good luck with your welding project, I never got good enough with stick welder to weld sheet metal.

Ron nice bbq pit.

Don, good luck with your valves, the hardest part is feeling the drag of the feelers. I try to wipe as much oil out as I can.

67 outside this AM. Mid 80's today and chances of thunderstorms. If the grass dries up I may start cutting. Otherwise to the pool when the sun comes up. Have a great day all. Be safe.

Good morning all.

Well, I got to the gun shop yesterday and sure enough, they had the shotgun of my dreams. No ornate engravings, it didn't need them as it's round body action and lovely woodwork made it a thing of true beauty. I should have been over the moon, yet within a few seconds of catching site of it and even before I raised it's exquisitely finished stock to my shoulder, I realised this was not the gun for me. It was simply too nice. If I owned it, I would want to take it out of the cabinet, oil and fondle it's fine form, then immediately put it back again. I wouldn't dare take it out in the wet and would always be wary of scratching the surface. We were simply not meant for each other.

But that's not quite the end of the story. Amongst the hundreds of 12 and 20 gauge shotguns in the shop, there was one more 28 gauge. This was another Italian Rizzini, a little more basic than the first I looked at, no slender round body but still built on a true small gauge action and although not finished to quite the same standard, perfectly functional thanks to the wonders of CNC machinery. Only downside was the woodwork. The forend had a "Schnabel" tip, which I'm not too keen on, then I realised a bit of work with a plane and some sand paper would remove that, or I could even one day make a new one - another long term project to look forward to ? So I picked it up, closed my eyes and then raised the butt to my shoulder. The salesman pointed out in a kindly manner that my mounting technique was not perfect, but it didn't really matter as when I opened my eyes, I was looking smack down the centre of the sighting rib to the simple bead at the end. We were about as perfect a fit as I could have hoped for. Sold !
