Kyle. Happy birthday.

Allergy shots went well. Small amount of swelling at one of the three injection sites but they measured it and sent me on my way. My eppi pen should be here Friday. Will have to carry it on shot days.

It will freeze meat in there!

One day I may need too. Never rule out options. But don't plan on it.

Although one day I'd like to build my own kiln using fans and a window unit a/c. But not this building. I'd probably spring for spray foam when that time comes.

Yes Drew. I know too much about fans and ventilation. But everything I have on hand it too much for that building. Smallest fan I use is 10,000 cfm. Large ones are 26,000 and they're trying to convince me to swap them for 31,000 cfms. But at $1300/fan x32 fans I'm holding out. Although mine are starting to show their age. Rusting out at 7 years. But have to use same company to get discounts for the premature rusting. I paid $900+ for these. Just paid them off a year and a half ago too. Like I said I'm holding. But I'm thinking a box fan on a shelf would do the trick. Especially heating it.

Eric, we have attempted to make a Manchester Tart, but I have a question to ask. Does it still count as a Manchester tart if you make the base and middle layers with shortbread crust in lieu of "short crust"? If I made a perversion of the real thing, might I call it "Lee County Tart"? You see, I like shortbread, and a bakery about 20 miles south of us makes a wonderful cherry shortbread. I believe each piece (about 100mm x 50mm x 50mm) costs about $3 or more dollars, so it is pricey stuff.

I had my daughter, son, and wifey all involved with making it. It is hard to believe how much money and labor can fit into a 14" diameter porcelain tart dish. It is in the refrigerator (not sure what the English call it), cooling down. My wifey is actually a bit edgy awaiting the cutting, hopefully in another 30 minutes or so.

Sorry I'm late to the party Kyle, Happy birthday !

I like shortbread too, your "Lee County Tart" sounds a great variant. This is a recipe for what we know as "short crust" pastry - Shortcrust Pastry | Recipes | Delia Online

Refrigerator (or abbreviated to fridge) is just the same here.

Do you have what we call "custard". Although custard can be made with eggs, one of the most common ways it is made here is from (eggless) "Birds Custard Powder" Bird's Custard - Wikipedia

(Wiki reference to non-Newtonian fluids seems a bit of a waste of good custard. Non-Newtonian properties are great fun, but that can be easily made for the kids to play and experiment with using ordinary cornflower)

Good morning. Still haven't seen any lightning this year, although on the way home last night we passed through an area where thunderstorms had been very active and could distinctly smell the change in the air. The summer evening sky turned into a premature night fall as I got my wish for some heavy rain to wash away that swallow poop. A bit too heavy for comfortable driving, it came down so hard that the radio was almost inaudible and my wife's voice sounded so distant it was hard to believe she was sat right by my side. The double speed wipers finally got to take a well earned rest as we approached home and the radio could at last make itself heard at a higher volume than normal, which was fine as it coincided with the start of Jefferson Airplane and [Don't you want] "Somebody To Love".

When we got back and looked at the garden, we could see that again not a single drop of rain had fallen where we live. I went round the paddock where we keep any sheep in need of a bit of extra care. A friend had called round earlier in the day to check on them and fed them. A ewe and her once poorly lamb that is now well on the way to full recovery both greeted me with their usual demands for me to pick them some tasty weeds as a late night snack.

Over in the corner an old ewe who has been going slowly down hill for a few days, was laying almost still, not able to lift her head to see if I had brought her anything. I moved the water container that was a few inches to her side a little closer and lifted her head to take a sip. She wasn't interested. Maybe I would be able to tempt her with some of their favorite weed, so I went into the tiny orchard to see what I could find. Two minutes later I was back with a bunch for all of them. The old ewe was looking directly at me but saw nothing, she had finally slipped away.

"Somebody To Love" was still playing in my head as I went to bed at the end of a peculiarly satisfying day. Couldn't help wondering what those ewe's last thoughts were as I drifted off to sleep. Perhaps at the end of my life, my thoughts will be much the same.

Good morning! Still 77˚ its going to be a 100+ day. Up a little early a little sore from the water volleyball yesterday. Water is getting a bit warm and I might need to add ice.
Eric the youtube following the one you posted was interesting also - walking on water. They got a cement truck full of cornstarch and filled a pool. As long as you kept moving you were ok but if you don't move quick enough you sink.
Happy belated birthday Kyle.
Watch the heat guys. One of our volleyball players was sidelined this week after an earlier heatstroke. He was fishing with his grandson on a boat and passed out. His grandson 14yo, did get him to shore and called for help.
