Good Morning!!!! 75F @ 9:30AM. Abundant sunshine. High 89F. Winds light and variable.
Late posting this morning because I was out before the sunrise hosing off the solar panels. Even though they are ground mount, the columns are long enough my brush/squeege pole wasn't long enough to reach the top row. Out came the 8' step ladder... Took about an hour and got lots of dirt colored water off them. Be fun today to see if there's any improvement on electricity output.

Glad to hear you've turned the corner on the move, MFW. Now the real fun can begin! Why buy the cow when the milk is free, eh?

Placed an Amazon order a few weeks ago, Ted. A week later the status was listed as "undeliverable" and the order was cancelled. It was only by chance I noticed the cancellation when I was looking up another order, you'd have thought they'd at least notify me with an email or something. Reordered the same things and they're supposed to be here today. Good thing nothing on that order was needed urgently.:irked:

A Ranch King to go with your King Ranch? Nice, Rick!

Don't give up on your propane for the winter months until you try it, Drew. The BBQ here is propane fired and keeps working down into the low 40s, but not as well as in warmer temps. Still good to have gasoline to fall back on, though. I remember well the ice storms the last few years I lived in Ohio, and how the extra weight of it brought power lines down all over the state. Would have been nice to have a generator back then instead of wearing down coats and wool hats inside the house until the power came back on.

I agree, Ron: Weekends are made for staying at home. Maybe the best thing about retirement is enjoying less crowded streets and stores on weekdays.

Still no word of any kind from the solar contractor, David. Now I'm concerned that the four extra panels I want to add to the array may no longer be available because they've become obsolete. Things change fast in the solar power world.

I'd have to be pretty desperate to pay Home Depot prices for E0. But they help to take some of the sting out of the six bux/gallon price at the fuel depot.

The Dalwhinnie's price makes HD E0 look like a bargain, Kyle. The lizards wouldn't properly appreciate it, and seem happy with water from the garden hose or a melting ice cube.

Finished rebuilding the second motorcycle carb yesterday, and also got the shorter belt and smaller pulley installed on the van's alternator. Also got some cleanup done in the garage, but not enough. More of the same for today.

Placed orders for a new ignition system and lighter throttle return springs for the white bike, a male/male adapter for the firetruck draft hose screen, and a set of red logger's braces this morning. I normally where a regular size, but the Propper wildland pants in that size were big enough to fit over a pair of jeans. The Small/Short pair that got here Saturday were a perfect fit, and I'm hoping a similarly sized shirt will fit as well. It's due in this week.

We're under another Fire Weather Watch starting tonight through Wednesday, and the power company is already showing elevated chances for another shutoff. So much for a trip this week.

Hope everyone's week gets off to a great start!

Our new barn cat is killing all the lizards. She should've been named Special Force Cat, if it moves, and is small, it dies. She has killed a small mole/shrew, 2 mice, multiple lizards, tens of grasshoppers, 1 scorpion (I think she learned a lesson on that one)....

Thanks for all the prayers for my daughter. She's been doing much better.

Good evening all. 50F for the start, overcast, moderate wind. Wind eased off during day, overcast had a few breaks late in the day and high temp was 61F (forecast was for 71F). Started with mowing, got leave mulched, decided with the cooler weather not to fish, and did get nap in. Conserved some energy as well :) Some rain appearing in next weeks forecast now, 1/2 inch over 2 days. :cool2:
Covid update: Cooke unchanged, Montague unchanged, Grayson unchanged.
Roy so the northeast is hogging most of the rain?
Eric any idea on how the maize the British farmers are planting different from corn?
Drew did you get the DMV sorted out? Hope the plumbing work goes well, and electrical work as well.
Thomas glad wet leaves did not stop you.
Billy glad roaster is back to 100%
Ron nothing like a good excuse for seat time. interesting pic of milk weed.
Bill I lost that battle when I moved, no work last year at all,
David(moss) good to hear you have friends coming over, most boxes went to garage, was about 2 months to be able to put golf cart in garage.
Mike good to hear progress
Don getting boring with no rain :(
Rick how much help is she if she says both work? Nice trailer, like the folding ramp
PJ glad you got some rain, and good luck with kayaks, they are harder to fish from than boat.
Ted sorry about the FedEx issues, hope your rain shows up.
Ken when using E10 important that gas station has good inventory turn over, less problems if alcohol has little time to adsorb water into gas.
Drew glad that went well.
David too late in the day to digest the schematic
RNG sorry rain has not started yet, good to hear progress continues an van and engine rebuild sorry about contractor, don't you have some programming for him to do?
RS always nice to have a conserve energy day.
Randy good humidifier squared away.
Chris thanks for the info.
David(moss) glad you got some range time
Thomas good to hear leaf blowing went well.
Bill congrats on your time off :)
David nice progress and supervisors are distracted. ;)
prayers for all, especially Drew/move, Jay/Peg, Kyle's daughter, RNG/fire, and Country
stay safe and healthy you all.

Rick, real nice trailer...I hadn't seen a fold up ramp like that. Good you got it that wide. Good luck on the hunt for a UTV. You pulling for Tampa now that Houston is out?

L4N, congrats on taking off until spring.

Mixed up some TSP, warm water, and chlorox and scrubbed house trim to clean algae off...we're well ahead of normal for total rainfall and rainy days this year. Also washed some windows using Simple Green. Lots of ladder climbs. I still have more to do, but my wife wanted to use the hose, and I was worn out. Was a very nice day to work outside...saw dozens of contrails in the sky...seems like they never faded today.

I wanted the 83" width because our Kubota ZT .. with 6' deck.. is about 75.5" wide. Our previous trailer was 77" wide. Loading was okay but .. unloading .. not so much.

14' length was to accommodate current UTV Side x Side length of 13'+.

The foldable rear ramp .. really cuts down on wind loading .. going down the road.

Baseball? .. got heat .. commenting on Astros last week so .. no comment.

I made the executive decision this morning...I am not going back to work until next spring. So officially I am on holidays until next April/May.
PARTY TIME!!

Great decision 🤙🤙

Had a chance last week to play around with the Unifi Network Design system. Imported a copy of my floor plan, scaled out the locations of the out building and generator, then added the APs, switches, UDMPro, and ethernet cables. It was then able to simulate the reception expected at various locations on the layout. Looks like I need another AP in the garage. Took maybe an hour once I had the drawing imported.

There's supposed to be a way to import that into the Unify Network Manager iPhone app, then use the phone to take actual signal strength readings. But I haven't figured that part out yet.:confused2:

Thanks, I saw that, but limited success trying to import via my ipad, haven’t tried laptop yet, but hopeful. Trying to import aerial of property as my floorplan.

UPS brought my mini Flex switches today. Will start placing them tomorrow. Amazon messed up my USG order so I cancelled and ordered directly from Ubiquiti. My primary reason for the USG is to combine my 2 LTE via load balancing. I question if perhaps I maybe should have gone with a Dream machine, but talked myself out of it as I was looking more for the outside wifi.

Hope you get your solar finalized. I’d be super frustrated (pi**ed) at the delay.

I don't see any reason importing an aerial shot wouldn't work, David. Once imported, you use a tool to draw in the "walls" of the building, and can designate various building materials so their transmissivity to radio waves can be figured into the heat map. Then you use another tool to set the scale. My generator pad and pump house weren't even on the imported jpg, so I just drew them in and the worked fine. CrossTalk did a video on the Design tool, BTW.

You're not out much if you decide to upgrade from the USG, and you could probably make some of your money back on ebay for it as well.

Curious to see how your load balancing goes, so keep us posted.

As long as the solar system keeps working, I can't get too upset that the last few details haven't been cleaned up. Priority wise, they're trying to get people up and running so they can deal with the power shutoffs, another of which is supposed to start Thursday. Compared to that, my issues are pretty minor.

Good morning all. Just moved the sheep into a side field. It will be my version of paradise for the next few days, now I can get to most places in the tractor without having to keep opening and closing gates.

Eric any idea on how the maize the British farmers are planting different from corn?
They plant specific varieties of maize that are optimum for when it is all chopped up together and placed in a sileage clamp to ferment.

Maize/corn is the same plant, from the genus called Zea. In agriculture it is called maize, which is the name for the entire plant. When cooked I know it as corn-on-the-cob (corncob), the kernels being called "sweet corn".

In Britain "corn" is the generic term for any cereal crop - wheat, oats, barley etc. It has been that way since Anglo Saxon times, from an old Germanic word - Korn. That same general name for grain also passed over the Atlantic, the first settlers calling maize "Indian corn". I see the early varieties of that are still around to this day Indian Corn – Master Gardener Program

Wng, nothing like a good session of ladder climbing for exercising certain muscles. Are you feeling a little stiff today ?

Good morning! 50 and drizzle right now. 58 later. Next 2 days should be nice and above normal.

Start my week today. Hopefully it is not crazy as I am going to be the only one answering tech calls today.

Everyone stay safe out there.

52 heading to upper 70's today.

Dumpster got hauled out yesterday, grass is better than I expected. And not too bad of ruts. Got the fence back together and moved the vinyl to the front yard. It was nice chucking stuff into that thing. Not having to make dump runs. That would have been a lot of work.

Actually hung two more foam boards up, and filled a few more holes in the ceiling. May cut grass today and try and relax.

RNG and David, you all have some serious network building skills going on with your places. My network here was just adding a few access points to three places on the farm and all was well.

Hope all have a great day. Be safe.

Good morning,
the temp is 35ーF and the high will be 45. Wind W 3 mph. Periods of rain ending this morning then sun and cloud mix.

I need to go to North Bay later today. That ought to be a real 'treat'.
That is the only 'plan' on tap.

Have a safe day all

good morning all
warmer morning, 57 going up to mid/high 70's today in clouds and sun. Warm weather is back until this weekend apparently.

still waiting for SS card to come in mail, my brother mailed it from VA last Thursday. Remember when first class mail always got to you in a day or two?...
Once the card comes in, I can go to DMV.

Plumber visit yesterday was successful, new toilet much more comfortable and now well pump doesn't run so much.
Electrician came and looked at house, confirmed panel is only 100amp, hope code doesn't require an upgrade, and he said he didn't need to add an interlock
panel but could use special breakers inside existing panel instead. Ok. Will all get down to how big his estimate is. He said he was backed up on four generator jobs
due to parts problems, seems whole chain of supply is messed up, particularly Generac. At issue is whether my Westinghouse gen will even show up first week in November.
I looked it up online and the price asked is now almost double. Some serious price gouging going on...

Today I hang curtains and try to add a little shine to old vinyl floors with mop 'n glow. Got floors cleaned yesterday, today I have to "paint" my way to a spot where I can read my book for an hour and not walk on the wet floors. Actually I think I'll do that working in direction of office. Have area rugs to order from Mr Bezos this morning; wonder if he'll invite me on his yacht for all the business I have done with him since 2001?...
