That must have been a pretty narrow band....we didn't get any snow in Bethel (about 25 miles north of Lebanon).
That's OK with me!!!!!!

Good morning! 58˚F, was 47˚F last night but the wind shifted and the warm air from the Gulf is coming from the South. SNOW! I want snow.

My little Honda tiller started cutting out, upon inspection the line with the weighted fuel filter in the gas take had split in two. New filters and line ordered. I need to get the chain saw blade sharpened for this coming weeks cedarcide parties.

One of the guys on the chain saw group was boasting of his "commercial grade Oregon chain". Has anyone used the commercial grade, he claims it says sharp a lot longer?

Not sure about Oregon commercial grade chain. But I used Stihl chains of my saws. Lasted a lot longer than Oregon of that time.

Good morning, 29 right now. First freeze of the season. Supposed to get to 60. Sunny and clear right now.

Got a trailer load of wood to split/stack today. Then last local flat track of the season tonight. Taking a father & daughter tonight who have never seen a flat track. Both hold LSR records on motorcycles in their classes tho. Hey Kyle, did you see Royal Enfield got their first ever win last night?

Brekkie is ready. Gotta go!

Everyone stay safe out there

Good morning, the temp is a balmy 34°F and going up to 46. Wind SE 9 mph. 70% chance of showers.
No snow here but we did get a heavy frost.

I gotta go to town first thing, then work on the platform for the greenhouse.

That is about all I have on my plate for today.

Have a safe and healthy day all

Good Morning!!!! 76F @ 5:30AM. Plentiful sunshine. High 91F. Winds light and variable.
No sign of snow or rain in the 10-day. Might take a mini vacation and ride up into the mountains this week for some fall color. Just a night or two, and probably in motels. Buddy heads out today for the coast, where it is cool and foggy. Not my idea of a good time on a motorcycle, so I'll stuff him full of oatmeal this morning and wish him a good trip.

Those sand burrs sound nasty. Lots of different burrs out here, but I don't know their names. I've learned to watch out for them, though, and stay away from them.

One thing I've noticed about the electric chain sharpener. If too heavy a cut is taken it heats up the tooth and it looses it's temper. It'll be nice and sharp, but will lose the edge quickly. I've had the best results from the Stihl chains.

Nice to hear you're getting settled in, Drew, and renewing old acquaintances in the neighborhood. Too bad so many delivery people are such a PITA.

Any idea what that big beam was for, Eric? Whatever it was, I'm sure you'll put it to good use on some future project.

Some years ago, the Asian car companies started using wire coated with a soy based insulation. Rodents find it particularly tasty...

Looks like a good fit, RS. But if you use a grade 8 shear pin, won't something else more expensive break before it does?

Glad your fence stood the test, David. I like your idea of rebar stakes; I've used the same idea for ground anchors on the cables holding my storage trailer on its jacks.

Thanks for the recipes, Don!

Siding looks nice, Frank!

The Orionid Meteor Shower will peak Tuesday night, but we caught a nice one from the back porch last night...

Power was restored yesterday afternoon, still very pleased with the way the batteries worked overnight and the solar cells charged them back up during the day. Didn't have to turn the generator on at all except for the weekly 5 minutes of exercise. Red Flag Warning expired last night, and winds are back to breezes. Several new fires in the area, but fire crews were once again on the spot and kept them small and under control.

Got one carburetor taken apart and cleaned, and mostly back together, but have to make a town run today for some parts, and pick up some groceries while I'm there.

Hope everyone enjoys this weekend!

Dunkirk was ok, don’t like the director’s style of jumping around.

Wife said it was around 38° this morning.
Sun is out. No plans for today, other than grill brats later. At least that was what I was told.
Wife made homemade spicy chicken soup last night, was very good. Has jalapeños in it, which I love.

Should mow, grass is getting tall again. Leaves need blown out from under deck, then mowed. Leaves about gone from the pretty maple behind the house

Drone shot of sugar maples from the other night. Drone says the props are warped and the motors were turning too fast. They look ok.

Don’t think my 55” Samsung tv is 4k, got it at Costco 2-3 yrs ago. Son’s tv is currently boxed up since he moved back home from the apartment. Got a bunch of his stuff stored in basement now. I have a 50” Visio in basement.

Good morning to all! Low of 42, up to 76 today, forecast calls for 40-45 mph winds again today with red flag warnings posted through tomorrow. The humidity being so low with the wind, it was expected.....

Eric, yes, to answer your question..... it can be an electrifying experience.... definitely shocking! I too, would like to know what the steel beam is for. Is it to support the bricks and keep them from buckling out when you remove the mortar?

Kyle, glad to hear your son tested negative.... are You going to get him tested again in a few more days?

Thomas gets the GM award for the first snow of the season! Hopefully it won't stay on the ground too long.

Ron, great pic of the woodpecker, very colorful.

There are tons of prickly things out here that will attach to you, sandburrs, goatheads, prickly pears, cholla cactus, rattle snakes, etc.... It is always a challenge outside not to get something sticking you! The tractor tires usually look like a pin cushion after mowing the fields.

RNG, good to hear the system is working as it should. Enjoy your ride this weekend!

I was able to get about half the ripping done on the oak boards. My shoulder and hand started complaining about the repetitive actions pushing the boards through the table saw.... I lost count, but somewhere around 150 cuts ranging from 12" to 48". I'm about halfway through this first batch.

I am going to also make a small (24"L x 18"H x 14"D) wooden chest for my granddaughter (as requested), so I pulled all the lengths needed out of the first batch. I will be going through the stack of boards again to dig more out for replacements. Then some more edge ripping will be needed. After all that, the fun begins to glue them all together!

Between the two woodworking projects, I should be able to occupy at least some of my time.....

Everyone have a great start to the weekend!

Coffee is done brewing. 28ー with clear skies this morning. Heading to mix of sun and clouds. Dr visit went very well. PSA is now 0.20. See Dr again next year.

Good news ...

Got grocery shopping done. Then relaxed rest of the day. Need to get net installed over garden pond today. Leaves are falling tree quickly after yesterdays frost.

I've noticed that they are starting to come down a lot quicker this past week or so. Imagine once we actually hit a low below freezing they'll really start falling ...

Nice woodpecker pic ...

RS, looks like yoke has clearance on shaft.

Barely ... I had to clean up the end of the shaft with a flap disc and then clean the rest of it with some coarse emery cloth to get the yoke to slide on.

Lubed it up real good with anti-seize ... but it still require tapping it on with a hammer and wood block to get to side on.

Another week of 11%.

Keep them coming ...

Same ... 3x on the Stihl chain ...

That's what the manual calls for ... :confused3:

Given the weight of the impeller, and the amount of inertia involved when starting it up, I actually wonder if it will be tough enough ... ;)

Glad to hear solar set up working well and that the situation with the fires have improved ...

Enjoy the leaf peeping trip ... :D

72°F and no rain, a bit breezy.

Gonna have to bite the bullet and go to HD for nails. Maybe a few other things.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

54F and sunny @ 12:30, high headed up to only 58F ... for the next TWO days ... :(

Need to finish cleaning up wheels for blower and treat the rust on them.

Also clean out the grease well for the chain and repack it:

Screen Shot 2020-10-17 at 12.26.44.png
Think there is a woodruff key and a square key that fell down in there that needs fished out. Probably will require a trip to TSC at some point to pick up some grease since I don't think have enough here.

Still some straightening and welding left to do on the sheet metal for the deflector.

Might take a shot at working on the driveway at some point if the wind cooperates so I can get the leaves blown off.

Surplus Center order has shipped, due in on Tuesday ...

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day.

"Rick, enjoy gd visit....(she really wants to come drive your vette hee hee) :)"

Madison .. has been trying to convince me, since she turned 16, that it's really HER Corvette.

Had the virus not come, her straight "A's" senior year, meant she had the Corvette for the last week of school. Unfortunately .. she came home for Spring Break and school never resumed. I'm sad .. that these kids .. totally lost .. their senior year.

We'll take the Corvette for Saturday lunch, at the Dairy Cone Drive-In .. in Columbus. I buy .. Maddie drives. It's nice .. being chauffeured!

It really is already her vette, you just don't know it yet. Maybe keep it parked at your place, so it's not an everyday driver.

I haven't watched it yet. Have the NBC gold pass to watch them. will watch later.

Went to highschool football game last night. It was a slobberknocker, coming down the last series of downs in the 4th quarter. Our team won 35-31

Hope everyone has a blessed day.

As usual, that big pretty live oak tree in my front yard produced great quantities of tiny acorns again this year. I've been blowing them off the driveways each day with my EGO leaf blower, but since the temperature was a dry 52 this morning, going for 77 later today, I got our there with the leaf rake and a little scoop and filled a big contractor bag with acorns.
