up part of night, writing a list of Regrets to my older brother about all the things I did not get cleaned up on the farm and thus have left for he and my other brother to clean up. I got a lot done, but events just took over. I was sick for so long, almost a year, they say now a lymphoma of adrenal area, which allegedly is more treatable than straight adrenal cancer which has less attractive cure rate. All I can do is take the chemo and stay positive. I've lived a wonderfully full life, three wives, every new day is an adventure. But gosh get me out of this place.

Family will be working all Sunday to move furniture to new assisted living place all of .8 mile away. Then Monday is move day, we hope. I worry about my brother's back though they will have a local mover help. His wife will come help, so I know everything will be put away neatly, the bed made nicely, etc. It's such a small place the queen bed may need to be pushed against one wall, but who cares, just me there. The big challenge will be setting up my main PC on a little desk, including the speakers that come with it. Pretty sure some cables will get missed, but always have this laptop as backup. Will be nice to have full size keyboard and 27 inch screen to look at, since I watch zero tv. This poor laptop needs a real cleaning, gunked up here and there, pancake syrup, spilled drinks. Mostly the keyboard is a lot harder to use.

Until then I have more days of PT and need to keep building my strength. I do great on walking, not so hot on funny little balance tests like standing on one foot and rolling a ball around with the other foot. Not sure I would have done so hot with some of this even before but clearly tests are made to push one's balance. And then the come with the mind twizzlers and memory tests and those I'm only ok on. Here are five words and I'm going to ask you them again in ten minutes after discussing all this other stuff. I might have some short term memory issues, but also could be my age...

72 and 91% humidity, going to 90. Buppies, how you getting your humidity down?...sending it over here? Ours will stay in the 80s and 90s until Friday.

Did one tank of backpack spraying before the wind got too strong. Found a patch that was bigger than I thought, so need to revisit...making good progress ridding us of a plant that actually is quite attractive and beneficial in many ways...but it is named poison ivy for a reason. I've never had much of a reaction to it, just a few small bumps, but have always been careful around it. I'm concerned about visitors and their/our dogs.

We go to a dermatologist that can look at your back or face and in a split second see something wrong...she has really developed an eye for it. I feel I have that "talent" for spotting a small poison ivy plant mixed in (hiding) with other 3 leaved plants and rarely spray a "good" plant by mistake.

Somebody was talking about how their splitting maul has gained weight over the years...I feel the same about a 4 gallon sprayer.

Made a dump run, refilled the diesel jug and truck gas while in town, and picked up seeds I ordered from the local feed and seed...soybeans, peas, sorghum, sunflowers, buckwheat, and clover. I had to stop in the road in front of the store and block traffic to let a black snake cross the road. When I pulled up to their loading dock, they were all standing there watching it. They had hoped it would get run over. I told them to catch it and put it under the store (100 year wood building sitting on piers) since their cat seems to spend the day sleeping on the tops of seed bags instead of doing its job.

Good morning! It hit 102˚F yesterday before the cool front pass through bringing the temps down to 66˚F this morning. Good morning to cerdarcide at the park before the afternoon temps hit in the 90s.
Great progress Drew. With a defined plan things will move forward now.

happy to report that current plan is to get me out of here next Monday into assisted living appt my family will be working on all weekend to make nice for me.

Night before last, our power (electricity) went off about 9 p.m. So I was up and down, in and out of the bed, until it came back on at 1 a.m. yesterday morning. Of course my wife's oxygen generator wasn't working, so she had to use an oxygen bottle, and she just can't seem to sleep without a light on, so she had one of the battery powered lamps going. Anyway, I didn't get much sleep, but yesterday morning with a good breeze and no dew on the grass, I mowed, edged, and trimmed the yard, then I helped her with her house cleaning, since she wants me to take her today to spend the night with our younger daughter (the elder of the two will also be there for the day today). So this old man wore out yesterday and just went to bed about 5 p.m. and, except for a couple of bathroom calls, didn't get up until after 4 a.m. this morning.

Yesterday, the temperature here ranged from 80 to 94 degrees. And this morning, it's 58 going for a high of 88. But unfortunately NO rain in the foreseeable future. So by daylight I had the sprinklers running in both the front and back yards.

Poured first cup of coffee. 75° with cloudy skies. Heading to 86° with 100% chance of rain. Yesterdays evening forecast of 80% rain did not happen. Maybe forecasting 100% will make it happen. Got Flail mower on tractor yesterday. Cut about 1 acre of field that was loaded with thistle before it goes to seed. Stayed in cool house rest of the day. No plans for today other than stay cool.
I did get a good picture of the moon Saturday morning.

Drew, I have been failing the 5 word word test for years. Now a days it's all 5 words. Before I would remember 1 or 2 words. First failure we saw with memory for my mom. Was not being able to draw a clock and show hands at 3:40. All the numbers were crowded to right side of clock. Good to hear you have support from your family getting you setup in your rehab place. Prayers sent.

Rick, I need to use my RG before I use tractor again.

Drew, I spent several weeks flat on my back after an accident back in '03, and part of the PT to recover included balance exercises. Muscles atrophy when they aren't used, and so does the brain's control of them. Might not have anything to do with your strokes. As for the memory tests, how much time do you spend memorizing unimportant things like five random words? Again, not sure it has anything to do with the strokes, but with practice, you can probably get pretty good at it. The important thing is you've got a firm path forward now, and a family that is helping you get there.:thumbsup: Now if only the vultures would quit circling; nothing quite as low as someone trying to take advantage of a situation like yours.

What are you spraying on the poison ivy Billly? I'm always on the lookout for something more effective than the ol' glyphosate/trichlopyr mix.

I've been using a beanie for welding for years, too, RS, but after having another punctured eardrum from a hot BB dropping in my ear, I'm switching to a weldor's hat with a brim I can rotate to cover the uphill ear when doing out of position welds. Hope the new helmet works out for you. I'm having trouble finding cheaters that are strong enough to let me see what I'm doing.

More of the same with the port forward install yesterday, with cryptic instructions and no part numbers to reference. Not a Janglish problem, just lacking information. There are no photos, just line drawings, and not a word about just where the item depicted is located on the tractor. Maybe Kubota has a school where they teach these procedures to their mechanics; it's as though these instructions are meant to serve more as reminders to someone that has already done this before. The instructions for the top'n'tilt are similarly vague, and there are probably four times the number of parts involved. I have all the lines run to the diverter valve, and briefly had the valve mounted, but had to take it off in order to install one very short, very stiff rubber line that seems to have been made about a quarter inch too long. With the valve in place, I couldn't get that line's threaded fittings to start, not to save my life. This morning, I get to try to figure out how to get the two bolts started that hold the diverter valve in place instead.:banghead:

Sounds like you are coming along GREAT!
But be sure you let your "trainers" know about things they are trying to get you to do if you couldn't do them before.

As I've written my lovely wife is stubborn. After her second/last stroke in 2009 she went through months of Physical Therapy, often times getting very frustrated. I came to one session and she was on the verge of tears. The therapist was trying to get her to snap her fingers and said it was important. The therapist couldn't get her to do it, but my wife kept trying because the therapist said it was important to be able to do it before they went on to more stuff.

I just about blew up, I had only known my wife for about 30 years and she had NEVER been able to snap her fingers. Or whistle. And she was to stubborn to tell the therapist. Now even after 10 years of great recovery she still can't snap her fingers

Our Governor still won;t lift the reigns even though NJ next door is lifting more restrictions each day. Hard to watch my neighbors businesses be all shuttered. Lots of stores with for rent signs.

Ugh...not motivated....79 outside this AM, heading to lower 90's.

Was sitting by pool yesterday and the cleaner decided to split. The collar on it. So I pulled it out, grunted a lot to get it apart, sore fingers and what not, then proceeded to find the part number. The whole unit is close to a thousand bucks...the part that split the collar seventy five to a hundred...the collar 10 bucks. I find it hard to believe the base unit and hoses add up to nine hundred dollars. LOL. I ordered the collar. Manual cleaning is the word of the day...

My pressure washer is still broke too.... I think after twenty years...a new one is the way to go.

I washed the truck yesterday....and did a dump run...got rid of two five gallon buckets of nails and small metal. Left overs from deconstruction at its finest.

Have you tried a welding helmet magnifying lens. I got mine from TSC. Solved my problem with welding. I now weld with my prescription glasses off.

78F and mostly cloudy @ 08:30, looks like we're still sitting in that warm, humid air mass. Glad I left the AC in the shop on overnight in "Econo" mode ... :laughing:

WB reports there is an enhanced risk of severe thunderstorms for the next 24 hours. High predicted to be 86F.

Think I knocked off in the shop around 01:00 last night. When I got back down to the house, WB issued a lightning alert - 22 miles away. Figured nothing would come of that, since by the radar it didn't look like it would pass over us. Wasn't long before we got hit with a torrential downpour. Didn't last long (<5min) , but when I say torrential, I'm talkin' gutters overflowing within a couple of minutes ... :shocked:

Probably spend a little time today seeing what I can find in the "mystery goo" category up in the shop ... since tomorrow the County's Household Hazardous Waste Facility will be open and taking donations.
