51 and getting a much needed small rain. Should see 79, but windy.

Heading to vet this morning. New protocol...sit in truck and call them when I get there...they come get dog...then bring dog back and then call me with info. Different than my dentist and dermatologist, who sent emails that they are closed (dentist available for emergencies). I certainly understand.

Brought in the last load of rounds on the ground, under shelter before the rain hit. I need to build another couple of pallet frames before I split...was gonna try to pick up some pallets at HD earlier this week, but they looked short handed and they'd have to send someone to open the back gate and babysit to make sure I took only their throw away ones, not the good ones.

PJ, thanks for sharing that skunk vid...I know that feeling of surprise when almost stepping on one in the dark.

Very little wind this morning, even without sunshine it seems much warmer. Instead of being huddled next to their mothers, most lambs are already up and playing with their friends.

Had a good play myself yesterday, at annealing. Settled on coil shape and have it running at 100 kHz (i.e. induced current changes direction 100 thousand times a second). With some temporary water cooling running through the induction coil I could mess around with a few more variables, how far the brass goes inside the coil, tweaking the supply voltage and adjusting the length of time magnetic field heats the brass.

Next time it rains I will tidy it all up and add a clearer display for the timer.

Mostly, ground fault trips over the years must have saved a good number of electrical fires and people being electrocuted, but they can be a real pain too. Not the best of times to be loosing food, lucky you have a good neighbor.

Drew, nice neat raised bed. I suggested to my wife she dig up her flowers and only grow food this year. The look in her eyes told me she knew a way to make our food go twice as far

C-19 news
All schools close here indefinitely from Friday. Some will reopen next week as child care centres for keyworkers. As well as the obvious doctors and nurses, delivery drivers are now recognised as keyworkers.

Best news - still no zombies :D

Drinking first cup of coffee. 37ー with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 52ー with rain in PM. Made beef stew in IP yesterday. Sure made house smell good. Never got anything done in shop or barn. Started a Audible book. Got 7 hrs done. Still another 6 to go. If i want to get some of the yard work done I need 5 gallons of gas. Not sure I will go out and get it. No other plans for today.
I think the black squirrel has a young one.

Rich, cat looks comfortable.

RNG, TSC is showing $34.99 for there 41% Glyphosate Concentrate, 2-1/2 gal.

Randy, great grandson picture.

Riptide, good skunk pictures, But !!

LS, try loosening all bolts while front of of tractor is lifted off ground with FEL. Mine was not level when it was delivered. Dealer came out to my place. We did the leveling together. Took about 30 minutes with a impact wrench.

Drew, good luck with listing you place.

Good Morning All.

Good Morning!!!! 38F @ 5:30AM. Partly cloudy skies. High 63F. Winds light and variable.

Finally, a day without rain. The ground was pretty soft yesterday when I used the tractor to unload the concrete bags from the truck, and I'm hoping it soaked down enough to make the digging easy, too. Gonna see if I can find the leak in the propane line today.

Pretty good mad scientist imitation, Eric. Is that a .223?

Ron, TSC link didn't work. Mom always liked you best...

If your town has a tile store, Wng, they'll have a ton of pallets to give away.

Taxes done, but had a hard time e-filing. Long time on the telephone with TurboTax support, for no help. Bug in program I found a way around, support couldn't find a way to report it.:confused2:

Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'!

Good morning! Intermittent rain 68˚F heading to the mid 70s.

Might head out to the trails if the rain simmers down, they are still open. Might take my pitchfork with me, just in case I see a pile of mulch that needs spreading.

Mom has a persistant Armadillo. Has anyone tried this? https://www.acehardware.com/departm...es&gclid=CLW4uI_MpugCFcgkgQodpSQI3A&gclsrc=ds

Ron that looks like a rat on a tree.

Drew, you are right, all initial shopping for real estate is online only the most serious will come out quickly. With lowering interest rates this might be a good time.

<snip>

Realtor said phone calls/traffic in office has died off dramatically. My timing isn't very good for sure, but I'm confident the right person will come along. Everyone checks out homes online anyway.
<snip>
Hopefully the low interest rates and fantastic gardens will draw buyers.

Good Morning, 45 here and raining, got about an inch over night. Mulched leaves and aerated the multiple lawn areas yesterday. Working on garden continues Friday, so hopefully dry enough to till.

55°F and dense fog this morning, going up to 71° today. We're paying the price for that warmth, though, as thunderstorms were already making their way through the area during the morning drive. The voice on the radio this morning suggested some may get severe this afternoon, maybe even tornadic.

By way of contrast, the forecast for Sunday says we may get some snow. Welcome to Spring, huh?

Saw something interesting on the way home from work yesterday. A tree had fallen onto and across several lanes of I-64 near Fairview Heights IL. I've often wondered at some of the trees I see along interstate highways that look too close and too sketchy. this one was hit by a couple of cars and a semi, and it looked like the tree won. ISP troopers and IDOT personnel were spending considerable effort to get the mess off the roadway when I idled past the scene.

Wife and I finally got around to watching the new Joker movie last night. Her impression mirrored mine ... "That was dark and twisted."

No skunk to entertain me at the chicken coop last night. I didn't mind at all.

You are a much more patient man than I, Eric. I load cases until they either split or just won't hold the bullet tight anymore, then I toss them and buy more. Neat setup you've devised, though.

Brave man photographing that end of the skunk. Is the fence spray proof?

No, it's not. If by brave you meant foolish, then you are correct. Honestly, he never offered any of the typical signs of warning. He was just intent on trying to crack that egg. I was humorously wondering if he was enjoying the additional light, as they can't see so well to begin with.

Or will a couple of 22LR痴 go thru it?

Yeah, but I wouldn't want him polluting the coop. I'll set a live trap for him this weekend, now that I know where he goes in and out of the barn, drag the trap out to the pasture, and ventilate him there.

PJ, glad you didn't get sprayed.

Me, too. Wifey threatened to make me sleep in the barn after she saw the video.

If after you've trapped the skunk you drape a sheet over the cage so the skunk cannot see out, he/she will remain docile and when you get to the spot you want to release it, take the cover off the end that opens and open the trap and get away a safe distance BEFORE you introduce it to a lead pill.
I have a buddy that practices catch and release of skunks regularly and this is his way of doing it. He doesn't give them any pills tho.

32ºF with snow, sleet, freezing rain changing over to rain for today’s low temperature. A dank and dismal rainy 33ºF presently and I anticipate an overcast afternoon with high temperature somewhere in the low 40ºF’s.

A decent day to hunker down and shelter in place.

The The BigY® Supermarket/Pharmacy where we shop the most has just issued a An Immune System Compromised/Seniors Only Policy for the hours of 7:00AM - 8:00AM when the store will be at its cleanest and best stocked. At some point, maybe tomorrow I’ll take advantage of the policy and out of curiosity see just how many really healthy “sick” people are shopping.

Not much on the agenda for today other than deal again with SelectComfort® and once again replace another delivered replacement remote programmed for a different model bed and another defective replacement compressor :(….. This is getting really “old.”

I hope everyone is having a manageable day.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

Lots going on, even with the country being shutdown..

Jay, sorry you are having troubles with your select comfort.. It reminded me that when my daughter ordered the replacement foam pieces, they sent duplicates of a couple and were missing others.. I don't recall if she ever got it straightened out or if she gave up.. I think she may have given up since I think the side pieces were correct (which is where the most wear is on my bed, it is where I sit on edge of bed as I am getting up.

Frosty this morning, daughter that lives with us has been told to get tested for CV-19 so she will have an interesting day..

No, I meant brave as in -
"Darn, that will make a good video, I think I can get it and I'll risk getting a little eau d'skunk"

You should send it to some nature show.

Hawkeye- I have a junkyard of defective SelectComfort® compressors laying around here. I may try to cobble together two separate compressors each connected/dedicated to its own mattress and hopefully be able to maintain pressure. The remote control may prove challenging. We'll see.

I am sorry to read about your Daughter. My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers for her and you and the rest of your family.
