Cloudy and cool, going to Front Royal for my oldest grandson's 4th birthday party. I love to see them but could do without the 400 mile round trip and 50 people there.

David, depression is a terrible thing, had a sister in law that was bi-polar. But....Do not let yourself be the bad guy. You are not responsible for your wife's happiness, entertainment or joy in her heart, beyond what a husband and father does. She has to love you, not your income.

Randy,

Wait, that is not my point. I am not intending to say bad things about my wife. Not true things either.

No my point is the precipitating event for this crisis was my devastating loss of income and my over-reactions to it (and some of hers).

I'm not taking all of the blame on myslef, but I can only control me. I can only change me.

Love ya bro. Have fun at party, you will be within 30-40 min max of my place I think...

Be well,
David

Route 50 and 66, not known for scenic wonders I'm afraid. Maybe once you get closer to Front Royal and get away from
the DC area.

My wife has suffered with depression for a long time. I see the same thing in her mother, and her brother.
So I don't think I'm the cause of it...

Luckily I was a psych minor in college and really studied this. So I know what she is going through, what will cheer her up, and
to have patience to just let her world come back on its axis. And be happy again. Which she wants to be, but the psychic weight of
depression is a real drag, a serious weight to bear.

I'm no expert on marriage, that's for sure. On my third and final marriage. What I do know is one has to be happy at least part of the time.
If you are unhappy all the time, you have to change. Either with help from a professional counselor or leaving your current home environment for one better suited to you. I never had kids, other than a second wife with three of them, so I have learned that while kids are wonderful, they weren't for me. And I really do understand why kids are the center of the universe to most folk.

My wife's and my love for each other has done nothing but grow. We both know this is not a drill. She has terminal cancer so I value every day I have with her. So each and every morning we say Good Morning to each other and try to make the best of the day, and have some fun somewhere. Not easy to do while in physical or emotional pain, but luckily I have a good sense of humor so I'm usually able to make her laugh, or perhaps even a chuckle. Often that's all that's needed.

one day at a time. Kiss your wife and kids and make each day an adventure.
As that movie star just said, we are all terminal. What we do with each day is what defines us.

David, I could have worded it better my friend. I just want to be sure you step out and look at it from the other side sometimes. Self blame is dangerous.

Daugen I'm truly sorry for your wife's situation. God bless.

Good Morning. 61˚ and cloudy with a southerly breeze, it will be getting up to 81 this afternoon.

Ron glad you mother is improving. I don't think I have ever started my tractor on a below 50˚ day. But I can imagine having fun pushing snow when being bundled up - in a heated cab.

Roy, 9 months after I got out of the hospital from my HA they called wanting the $500 deductible, I told them I mailed it 8 months ago and gave them my check #. At 12 months the same call and I sent them a canceled copy of the check from the bank that they deposited, 13 months later same call - then the fun started - I called them EVERY DAY for two weeks making sure their records reflected the correct information and that they mail me proof. Now I need to check my credit rating - thanks for the heads-up.

David hope it works out, the family stays intact and everyone is happy 90% of the time. I'm an advocate against medication, but some mental conditions require it, to be on the same playing field as the rest of the world. She probably needs you more now than ever. I know you will give it your best shot.

"...we are all terminal. What we do with each day is what defines us." So true Daugen, and a good way to put everything in perspective.

It's 42F right now heading up to 56F today. It got near 90 Yesterday. I sure enjoyed that warm weather. Now they're even forecasting snow and a high of 37F for Friday. Thought I might be done with burning wood for the winter, but looks like I might have one more day of wood burning.

I hope they're wrong on Friday's forecast. Especially about the snow. I don't want anymore of it. lol

Thanks for all the good wishes, guys...but it didn't work out. Sucks, but I must admit I did learn a few lessons here.
The biggest drag, outside of the disappointment of losing the house, is spending $875 on a home inspection on a home I can't buy...and I'm SOL on that.
Now, the KC bank had a title search done by my lawyer (lawyers do the title seaches in VT). It was ordered by the bank on 04 March. Just called the bank...told 'em they'd best pay that lawyer.

Sorry it didn't work out for you Roy.

sounds terribly boring, stuck in Paradise, huh?
Every day warm, breeze blowing, pineapples jumping into your truck.
now that's the life.
I'd rather be checking out your pineapples than the snow coming down at the moment.

LOL, definitely not boring, just an adventure.
Your description is a tad lacking, but I'm not complaining. I absolutely love it here and can't imagine calling anyplace else home.
Just glad I don't have a regular job, else no time for all my retirement duties.
Take care.
Oh, I do love seeing the snow on the mountain - far better than shoveling.
:)

It's a postcard day in N. TX. This afternoon's high is expected at 84 F and a light southerly breeze turning to northerly as a cool front moves through tonight. Tomorrow's high will be 10 degrees cooler, so still beautiful weather.

I have a granddaughter driving down from Oklahoma to spend a few days with us. I haven't seen her in 3 years since I attended her High School graduation. She is coming to visit along with my three granddaughters who have not seen her in over 10 years. They were all big buddies as kids growing up. We are having a sleep-over and reunion at our house tonight. It should be a blast. I'm so happy that as a grandparent I can help keep our family bonds strong. I've never lost contact with my grandchildren and never missed their birthdays or Christmas. Now, that attention that all seemed to be one-way is paying off by having them want to see and be with us. I could not be more thrilled and excited. I know I'm gonna be surrounded by a bunch of girls, but they are all sweet and kind with upbeat personalities. I am so blessed!:cloud9:

Last week 10 day forecast only had one day under 50F in the forecast but did not come true. Now the 10 day forecast is all low to mid 40's except for tomorrow(38F). Is that what you are talking about?

No grand children yet, yes I am just about old enough. But my baby is a freshman in college and presently on her way home from myrtle beach after a week away playing ball. She called me the other night and was complaining about the food the team has been getting and told me she wanted some good pasta with meatballs and braciole . So it was off to see the butcher this morning and just finished making the meatballs and braciole. First thing tomorrow morning I will make a big pot of tomato sauce and send her back to school with a smile, full belly and plenty of leftovers. And I am looking forward to her getting home for just the day
.I do know it is St. Patricks day and most will be eating boiled beef and cabbage but I don't think he would mind he was Italian anyway, St. Pasquale!!!
