LOL 3490 miles on our Pilot we got Dec 2016

The first new car I bought was a Nissan Sentra back in the early 80's. We put 60K miles on it on the first year! We've slowed down a lot since. My 2006 truck only got 202K in 12 years.

   / Good morning!!!! #76,064
even better, what's the fastest the Pilot has gone? 45mph? 35?.....
Rumor is the subaru has seen triple digits, just a rumor....

I had to chuckle, the used car dealer who bought my Jaguar for a song said he wanted my Subaru too. He saw how clean the Jag was and I told him the Subaru was
almost the same. Plus it only has 12K miles on it. Easier to trade it in though for same money. I'm asking 29k for a 39k Outback(with 2k more options on top) I paid 37K for. Anyone want a perfect loaded Outback before the dealer gets a steal? This whole process is usually unpleasant enough I can see why folks take the first trade in amount offered. For sure their first number is rarely their best number.
I want the number where we keep you from walking out the door.

Details please! What color, our Forester has 97K miles was thinking of trading it in. Post a few pics.

What extras do you have on it. I could fly down and drive it back.

What color, our Forester has 97K miles, Post a few pics. logistics might be tough but maybe . . .

this won't happen for three months Don, now that I ordered a new car. When it comes in, then I'll find a happy home.
will take a pic tomorrow. 6 cylinder, 25 mpg local, dark blue, brown leather interior, tow package, roof rack, window vents. Retail is 31k.
Ordered a four cylinder Q5 in medium blue, brown leather interior. Same gas mileage but Audi requires premium fuel which was almost
a deal breaker for me. What a waste of money...although I'm told our cars would run a lot better/be more efficient if all we had was super premium.

Engine engineers must love octane. It's often 50 cents more per gallon here so every 12 gallon fill will cost me an unnecessary 6 bucks. This is probably why the Europeans
love their diesels. I would have bought a diesel in this Q5 in a heartbeat if they offered it.
I think all their diesel engineers are in jail...along with a slew of VW and Bosch execs. Now the US is prosecuting
the ex head of VW. That soap opera seems not to want to wrap up any time soon.

Today was made less unpleasant by the fact the head sales guy is ex Mercedes and Porsche and
really a fair player. And instead of putting the pitch on me to buy this one we can get for even more, when
I said simply I'd like to order a new car, he said fine, let's do it. And software glitches aside, it did not take long.
My sales guy has been in the business almost 40 years, what stories he could tell.

still 87 with heat index of 100.

long range forecast very stormy, maybe that system down in Florida moving North.
Thunderstorms and rain predicted every day for a week, with cooler temps coming in.

RS, the Ranch dressing/dipping sauce has almond milk, roasted garlic, rice vinegar, lemon peel, red onion, savory spice blend, white miso, date sugar, fresh parsley, dill and cashews.
I really like it on steamed broccoli also.

Starting off with quite a thick mist this morning. I'm not complaing, in my haste to get out yesterday I missed part of my neck when rubbing in sun screen, then couldn't get to sleep last night for the sun burn.

Andrew, that has to be one of the best formal family pictures ever !
"we've only got 4 kids, so far" . Photographer may be needing a wider angle lens if you have too many more :)

This is probably why the Europeans love their diesels.
That love affair with diesels is cooling in Europe, thanks to VW's cheating. Diesels dropped 40% in the UK last year, now accounting for just 33% of new car sales.

Diesels used to be much more economical to run, however the engine improvements over the last few years have narrowed that gap. The mpg figures for vehicles sold in the UK always tend to look good - our vehicles drink generous imperial gallons, not those diminutive US gallons that leave the engine always feeling thirsty for more

Interesting about the Chinese interest in Paulownia. When my friend told me how much his saplings cost, as he suggested I could buy some at the same time, I just figured I'll stick to native trees. Now rethinking that. I'd like to plant in the pasture, at least the part we own, shade trees for the animals. If I understand the EU subsidy directive correctly, 100 trees / hectare it is still considered pasture, so it means a tree every 10 meters.

I want to get something by this fall to help with digging potatoes out of the ground. My brother-in-law has a mini potatoe plow (I assume its what daugen described, the NT website blocks access from Slovakia, and I'm too lazy to connect to my US VPS to get around that), but his is for pulling behind a rotovator and a bit insufficient.

Some German cities are planning this year to totally ban diesels from entering. Previously, a lot of countries had a system where only the newer "generation" of emission control equipped vehicles could enter. Somehow this isn't just about smog, but also meeting some targets about CO2 and climate change.

There has been talk by some mayors in Slovakia of doing likewise-- I need to investigate how real the risk is, as I'd be inclined to pick up a VW T5 when the Germans start selling them cheap used. Unfortunately, I suspect used gas VW Transporters will increase in price, as my other thought was to get one and convert it to run on LPG, which is half the price of gasoline here. Everyone I've met who has a car converted for LPG has said that the conversion pays off real quick.

Most, if not all, EU countries place higher taxes on gasoline than diesel fuel. That's part of why diesels are so popular. Pre-tax, gasoline is cheaper. There would probably be as much interest in diesel passenger cars in Europe as there has been in the US if the governments hadn't through their tax regimes created this situation.

50 and going to a high of 61. Wind W 6 mph. Sunny.

With the hardest camera installed, I can now get on with it and start installing the other 6.
The pictures, colour in daytime and black and white at night are clear and sharp. The CPU can be set to only record what it motion dectects. I have mine set to 300 seconds (5 minutes).Set up was a bit confusing, but other wise not bad. I heat shrunk all the outside connections and then siliconed the ends of the shrink tubing anyway.

Update on the new to me wheels. It had to go to the glass shop in North Bay, ON and probably will be back in Sundridge tomorrow.
I checked in autotrader and that one was one of the cheaper asking prices, so I don't feel too bad that I didn't haggle.http://www.autotrader.ca/valuations/#?make=2000693&model=2043916&year=3839288&km=0&local=P0A%201X0&trim=3883143&mode=2&condition=0

My help is retarded. He likes to work in the heat of the day, where I prefer to work in the cooler part. At daybreak I will go out and start installing the rest of the cameras.

Have a good day all

Good morning all, 60 going to 85 with a 30-40% chance of T storms. Had a pretty good storm last evening. 20 mph winds, a good amount of lightning and .90 in of rain. Glad for the rain but it makes it hard to figure out if the pool is still leaking.

Prayers sent, have a great day. Ed

Don, please PM me with your personal email so I can send that info. I have it all right here and can scan it.

Andrew, here's a pic of the potato plow aka middlebuster plow. Three point hitch, made for smaller tractors.

First cup of coffee has been poured. 61° with rain this morning. Heading to 71° with mostly cloudy skies. No call from trucking company yesterday. Will wait another day before calling. Finish assembling and hanging bee traps. After taking wife to a doctor appointment.

Don, you sure put the miles on your cars. One of the factors to consider when living out in the country. I complained about it when I first moved out here. Now all the big box stores have moved to less than 5 miles of me.

300 gm of cabbage is 1/4 of a head.
