a cool 61 degrees going up to only 67 today in Lincoln DE.
Decided that a full day was plenty of time to make my place secure so am staying another day
here with friends, and then home by noon tomorrow Thursday.
The ironic thing is that in anticipation of my 41 foot carport going in, allegedly..., next week, I had just gotten help to unscrew the ground anchors for this rv as I didn't know where in the new space this rv would go. Might be in the rear and the Massey up front like a big iron bulldog blocking the way.
time for a boat hurricane story
I sat on my boat during a Cat 1 in Aventura Florida, my marina was the local hurricane hole, and I was tied up with triple lines and chafing gear onto a huge concrete dock surrounding my boat. All good. Until one of the smaller boats on the far end broke a line, was never prepped for storm, and now was swaying out into the marina about to hit other boats but still tied on with one line. And here is the 120 pound dockmaster attached to that line getting dragged down the dock. Even with my bad back at the time, I went out there, once a fireman always one, and helped him drag that 40 foot boat back. Meanwhile another idiot who had not heeded the warnings had a fabric and steel pipe structure around his fancy race boat, and it started to self destruct. So while we are pulling on that line, pipes and pieces of that structure flew over our head. That's when I decided that once he had another line on, it was time to go back and calm my wife, who may have come out to get me. 100mph flying coconuts; you just don't want to get hit by one. And those palm fronds with the sharp ends fly around very easily.
My home sits in the middle of a large open area, but fully boxed in by treelines and forest. One side is exposed to the tops of some large treeline oaks, though when the last one went down they went down the other way into the field which I own. So its just firewood. My orchard is very protected and has a commercial metal fence around it. Now that could get dinged up for sure. The orchard is starting to lose its leaves,so if they all went, probably not a damaging thing. And the barn is in the lee of the woods on at least two sides. A big pine tree could get it but unlikely.
I'd say it's time to bring in the hummingbird feeders. And a whole lot of other things. Couple of hours should do it.
Then I need to address tarps over equipment.
