Apples, fishing, 30' high deadwood, what's next?

Rs, are you sure your home furnace is good to go? :)

Farmer, glad your son Finley is getting better. Worst nightmare of parenting is checking on your kid in the middle of the night and they have 104 fever.

Quick question? Has anyone ever burned pear tree wood? I took down a pretty solid dead pear tree (1ft diameter) at my parent's and was wondering about burning it in the wood burning stove this year?

Oh, so much for Fall coming early, 100˚.

Edit: Why am i even thinking of fire wood??????

Just made the wife happy, helped her put up her rug loom. Don't know how old it is but the company went out of business in the 1930's. She makes rag rugs and loves it.

David, I have been told that the first step in building a cathedral is to plant oak trees. By the time they need them they will be big enough to make the beams out of. :scratchchin: Ed

Good evening all. 74F this morning humidity still high and staying that way for a while. Had about 1 1/2 in (radar est., gauge hiding in garage :( ) of heavy rain last night. Made it to 92 today, about another week of that before a stronger cold front shows up. Did not get much done as we had to visit tax man this afternoon. Did get to try out new Rib Crib in town :).

Good Evening. 2330, clear, 76F with 92% humidity. Forecast low of 71F with 10% chance of rain tonight, and a high of 90F tomorrow.

Sister is turning 61 tomorrow. We all went out to local Mexican place to celebrate. I took a good after supper nap, now I'm watching the Houston game. Not pretty ball, but entertaining.

You guys have a good one,

Larro

I've cooked with pear wood. Never used it in heater though.

Never tried heating with it. But when mixed with hickory it makes great smoker wood. Actually any fruit wood works. Pear, Apple, persimmon, ect.

44 right now...high of 74 today. Going to be a very nice day and I reckon I'd better start mowing this afternoon. Saturday is going to be work (at the job) until about noon and I'd best finish mowing and trimming. Sunday looks like 90% chance of rain

65 headed to 78. Yesterday was clear as a bell at sunrise, then turned cool and cloudy and kinda dark afterwards.

David, seems like you are speeding through the countries. Great pix.

Headed to an early county commission meeting.

Good morning. We are still enjoying warm weather from the south, although like all good things, it must surely come to an end before long. Had a great day yesterday. Fished for a few hours in the morning while everything was shrouded in mist, then home for lunch and a half hour nap, followed by tractor driving for the rest of the afternoon.

Farmer, good to hear your little one is gradually getting over the flu.

All of you who have turned out livestock onto fresh ground will have smiled at watching them rush in to enjoy their new pasture. For anyone not being able to see that recently, I thought I would try and take a few pictures to share with you. The ewes had a jab the other day and needed to go on to clean ground for a few weeks for it to be effective, so I've been saving them a special treat. For weeks they have been looking longingly through the gate at the regrowth on the hay field.

It took only a few seconds for the first to notice that I had opened the gate.

The first ewes were wary it was another trap, so they hang back and called over friends to check it out. That took all of ten seconds, then the stampede was on.

The only one who stopped for a few seconds was a teaser tup, who wanted to know what I was up to.

Great story Eric drizzling this morning 66 now high of 77 later. Maybe this drizzle will wash out some of the dust and pollen that's causing everyone with allergys problems.

Farmer glad your little one is doing better

Good Morning All.

48.6F @ 06:30 ... high today predicted to be in the low 80's with mostly clear skies initially, and clouds moving late in the day. Possibility of some rain starting very late tonight, and continuing into early Sunday.

Will start out this morning cutting some steel to widen the table grate on the splitter and cleaning up in the shop (until it warms up a little outside) ... so I can get the B2910 in there tomorrow to replace the right front axle seals. Will probably light off the first fire of the season in the stove to take the chill off.

Then mebbe some more wood splitting this afternoon.

Other than that, no idea ... no shortage of things to do though.

nice day here weatherwise, 71 going up to 81, good thing, lots to do outside.
got some seat time on both tractors, here is the result of the tree mess. Four trailer loads so far, just the trunk and three logs left to deal with.
plus a ceremonial disposal of a very well worn flag. I know it's mostly nylon but the rod is wood, and in that huge bonfire it will go quickly.
I just don't like the idea of putting it in the trash, cut up or not.

I drove my Massey really for the first time yesterday, did some field mowing where it will fit, but mostly this will now do my roadsides. I'm having to sharpen the blades on my regular mower monthly because mowing roadside just dulls the blades, lot of fire ant mounds hit plus it's just tough field grass.

one of our local firemen just ran into the back end of a guy on his tractor with rotary cutter on back, demolished the tractor and bush hog, thankfully no serious injuries.
Fireman got a bunch of tickets. Really stupid and dangerous, talk about distracted where you don't see a tractor. Lots of equipment on the side of the road here; constant issue for driving, need to pay attention. That could be me out there...of course I'm only on small back roads, but one folks whiz by at over 50mph. Going to take the portable roof top LED flasher light out of the Kubota and mount it somewhere on the ROPS of the MF. 4 way flashers don't seem to get the job done per recent experience...

Quite a 4Q huh?

Cougar High 76 Grad!

It took Houston almost 3 quarters to get it in gear. Cincinnati played well up until then.

All of you who have turned out livestock onto fresh ground will have smiled at watching them rush in to enjoy their new pasture. Mutton STAMPEDE!!! There is an old cartoon of a sheep farmer's sheep "mowing" over a herd of cattle and the cattle end up with no hair...
Reminds me of a video from a few years ago, where a new government handout was going to be given out first come, first serve and there was an all out track meet of women literally racing each other for quite some distance to get the freebies. (They had to stay outside the gate until a specific time.)

Where's the fish picture??? :)

Still so hot down here. No breeze makes it cold beer or lemonade weather, hopefully you have a fan to blow on you.
