42 degrees this fine morning and heading to low 60's
fall is in the air!
Wife returned home last night so it will be "Clean the house day" for sure!
I got roped into some of that today myself ... fortunately the area to be cleaned was the garage ... and all it really needed was swept/vacuumed and a little straightening up.
The day started out bad right out of the gate: I had planned to sneak up to shed early ... but I was waylaid by the WWOTW before I could get out of the house with a bunch of whining about
"When are you going to fix the broken passenger window lift in my car ?"
So I tore into that and found out all it was was that the metal hex's on the cable had come out of the plastic clips easy peasy ... then I promptly broke one of the clips trying to sort it out ... so that ended that project right there until the new parts come in ...
But then I had to hear about the extension cord and
"... what are you going to do about it ?" I have a pretty nice Yellow Jacket extension cord ... I think it's either 10 or 12 gauge and 75' or 100' long. Bought to use with an electric jackhammer.
It's been living on the garage floor for the last few years ... mostly because I don't have a cord reel for it ... and it seems like we're always tripping over it or having to move it out of the way.
So I explained that a (relatively) cheap wind up air hose reel from Harbor Freight might work. Finding a cord reel (cheap) for a cord that large isn't easy (I think I was planning on building one out of a large MIG wire spool ... but then decided even those weren't big enough)
After hearing about how
"... you probably didn't even check Lowes or Home Depot ..." I explained it just isn't a normal item for either of them to carry - due to the size.
This is where it gets good: I was then
commanded to
"just go to Harbor Freight and get the #@!* thing ..."
But wait ... it gets even better:
she drove me there ... lol ...
And better still: I also scored a 60 piece tap and die set ...
and an 11 piece adjustable hand reamer set ...
I wanted to mount the reel on a piece of 1 by board and stick a carrying handle on it ... but oh no, she sez
"It will still be/end up on the floor ... and I'm not going to pick that heavy thing up ... mount it to the workbench ..."
First time I've got to use it somewhere else it's coming off that bench and getting mounted on a board.
The final entertainment of the day was provided when I started to clean up the old Coleman 30 gallon compressor we keep down at the house in the garage. It's oozing some oil and had a good bit of paint overspray on it, in addition to all the regular dirt. So I start hitting it variously with some shellac thinner and PPG Acryli-clean to remove the petrochemical mung and drool ... and out she comes from the kitchen wearing her rubber gloves with a bucket of hot water and telling me I don't know how to clean anything properly and announces what's needed is some Simple Green in water.
Uh-huh

...
well, okey-dokey then ... have at it ... just try to keep it away from that electric motor thingie there will ya ... lol ...
I threatened to take a picture of her cleaning the compressor in her rubber gloves and post it on TBN ... probably should have ...
I did manage to get the 12 D.O.M tube mounts for the pins on the grapple reamed out to size and the pins fitted tonight ... all 21" worth ...
Small moves ...
