Good morning!!!!

Good day today. Well kind of. Our neighbor that is a Doctor did some searching for us and found a doctor to give my wife a second opinion on her diagnoses. Happened so fast this morning that our heads are still spinning. Stopped the pine tree project. Got an appointment with one of the top doctors in Michigan for ALS. Came out of the appointment with a positive diagnoses of Lou Gehrig's Disease (ALS). It has not made any change in her for over 9 months. Since she started feeling something was wrong. This doctor is aggressive in treating ALS patients. Already have therapy planned and other procedures that should help keep the disease at bay.
Doctor is also recommending that we see a ALS specialist at Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, AZ. Where my wife is already a patient for a bone marrow disease. Our visit to them for that has made a very positive improvement in that condition.
It's not what we wanted to hear. But we have been aware that this is what she has for several months. Now to get to work and keep it progressing further.

Ron, the iPhone 4s can be locked?
Like RNG said pressing the off button on top of iPhone will lock screen. Best to set up a pass code in settings. That way you will need to hit 4 keys to open phone. It's a good thing for security. You can still answer phone calls like you always did.
iPhone 5s and newer phones have a finger print way to open phone. I use it all the time.

Ron, I'm glad your wife finally got diagnosed, but I'm sorry for the diagnosis.

Almost five inches of rain now predicted for Friday, going to be quite a rainstorm coming North apparently

Ron, we were hoping the second opinion would nullify the first diagnosis but at least now you know what direction to go. It sounds like you have some good Doctors lined up for treatment and hopefully slow the progression. Our prayers are with you and Betty.

Thanks, We got the red prius V today not so much for the hybrid part but because it works so well for our family. Haven't found a car that works as well for us. It is a 2016 so we got some rebate money and 0% on the loan. No hood glare because you have to set forward to see the hood. Drove it about 80 mi today, a good bit of it was up on Sky Line Drive, and loved it. Will get used to the red and the styling. Thanks for the help everyone.

Ed

Good morning, that rumour about winter coming is hard to believe this morning. It may be the 1st of September, but this is a beautiful sunny day.

Kyle, Max talked to the swans, but they still aren't in picture mood.

Ron, so sorry to hear about your wife's condition. I didn't understand what ALS was at first. Here it goes under the name MND (motor neurone disease). In a way though, it is good to get that definite diagnosis as now she can receive treatment to slow it down.

Drew, Doncaster is not far from where I used to live. At one time a lot of the people there were employed in coal mining or in the Case IH tractor factory. Coal mining went first, then McCormick bought the tractor business and not long later pulled out all the design and assembly work from the town. Last year a friend told me they were building houses over the site.

Lenny, the early MF's have a great following here. They have a low centre of gravity and something like that, where you can set the wheels on a wide track, could be a good choice if you need the stability for slopes. I have an old Ferguson, but if I were to buy again it would be an MF 35 or later model - they are well worth the extra money if you are doing serious work. Best thing about them is that companies are still making new spare parts at sensible prices. Suggest you look at availability and cost of spares first, whichever make/model you go for.

Farmer, your description of a single shot semi-auto made me smile. Hope a good clean out gets it cycling again.

Ed I have been driving a Toyota hybrid for a month or two now (the 4 wheel drive Rav). Still feels spookey to be able to pull away without the sound of an engine.

69 going to 84.

Happy autumn...my wife says September 1 is the start, not the autumnal equinox. I'm not arguing, especially since we might get down to 59 Saturday night.

Well, after whining about no rain yesterday in my post, we got a good shower an hour later - maybe a cell only 2 miles wide came over us. Then a well behaved storm last night - lots of lightning, not much wind, but much needed rain.

The morning shower was all I needed to put the tiller on the tractor and get one food plot planted for fall. By the time I finished it and moved on to a second plot, the sun had dried out the soil completely, so no go. Will try to get two more done today. Rain is possible again today, but they just backed off the hurricane forecast for us.

Ed, congrats on the new car. Glad you had a chance to test it out up on the Skyline Drive...but watch out for those bears, or you'll catch up to Drew's harvest count.
