70 degrees going up to 89 on a clear hot day. After yet another doc appt this morning, I am finally going to get the Kubota out, on a dry day, with help, and get the last of the stuff off my front lawn. Very disappointed that the barn would not fit everything, not even close. The little barn has a shed roof off to one side; I promptly told the builder to build a shed roof on the other side just like it; to protect things until I can build the workshop/storage building behind the house I really want.
not such a hot day medically yesterday. Having a needle biopsy done on my thyroid next week; some possibility of cancer; dreary thought, though allegedly very treatable. And today I get told if the doc thinks I have prostate cancer.
Geez, depressing....because I have had two skin melanomas already, plus everyone in my family has died of cancer, this is something I have to stay on top of. I knew I had thyroid problems a year ago but I put all my medical issues aside to take care of my late wife. With the Grace of God that delay won't be harmful, but hard not to worry.
so, off to get a finger up you know where this morning, always such a thrill for a hetero guy...

and I'm sure more tests to come.
Last night after dinner, after it cooled off, I took my new JD lawn mower, the X750, out for its first mow. Boy that thing ran nicely, super smooth ride with the suspension seat, and mowed nicely; though I never like the oem blades because they come through not very sharp, painted over, etc. I like them like razors...and enjoy a leisurely sharpen on my grinder to get them that way.
Interesting that for days now we have been using the mower at low speed just above idle to haul stuff around with the cart. The diesel fuel gauge never moved, maybe down a quarter tank since the mower was delivered. I mowed for an hour at full speed, flat out like they say to, to break in the engine properly if nothing else, and when I was done, the tank was half full. I normally mow at about 80% throttle, and find at the slower speed I mow, there is zero difference in the cut quality; i.e must be enough blade speed to get the job done. Even at full speed the temp gauge did not go up more than one third, so clearly the unit is designed to run flat out. But I'm not...

I guess I should just put my earphones on and ignore the roar of the engine. like I'm supposed to...
And I will be thinking of a beautiful green lawn today instead of other things....
