Good morning!!!!

Got the birds fed after the first shower, and before the one lightly falling now. It felt like fall outside with only 62 degrees...only up to 74 later.

Didn't pay attention to the weekend weather forecast, but Drew warned me that I should have bush hogged already because the rain was coming. At least I got everything mowed yesterday...will look good for Independence Day. Also gathered a couple of FEL buckets of rocks and spread by my bridge.

On my walk about this morning with Coco, I noticed that the poison ivy I sprayed this week has turned yellow, but also found a new small patch. Seems like I'm spending too much time with my poison ivy and bridge approaches. I hope my wife's not getting jealous.

64 high of 74 with showers got grass mostly mowed yesterday until storms got me at 6:15 last night. Travel day today then the week off ahhhhhh.....

then the week off ahhhhhh.....:dance1:

hard rain now, thunderstorms passing through, should then be clear until mid afternoon and they start again.
going down to work on my old but new to me Woods rototiller in a little bit. Need to pull off the chain drive cover, clean out the inside, reinstall with new cork gasket, and then refill.
Hopefully gear lube will then not leak out as before.

then later down to my friend's house on the River where her clothes rod gave way in her closet, clearly way overloaded, and everything, upper shelves included, crashed down in front of her. Just needs to be screwed back in, and this time I'll glue and screw some wood block reinforcements along the bottom. And perhaps she could exercise a little more restraint in what she piles up there.

that will be my good deed for the day and then home to do nothing. Had a hard night.
Up at 3:30am trying to get leg cramps out in my hot tub, didn't work, spend fifteen minutes in shower with hot water on full, finally got better. I've been drinking quinine to help, and will now try to drink some sports drinks. Waking up with your leg in full lockup in the middle of the night is hard on the sleep.

73 this morning and headed to 91 today.

Need to clean off the front porch. What was torn out of the bathroom yesterday was piled on the porch. So now sort and move. Then maybe a trip to Lowes and Menards. Back in time for the cookout hopefully. If wife and boy feel like it. Buddy is frying fish and shooting fireworks.

Drew. Your body has been saying slow down. Learn to listen before this point. Get better.

thanks. Guess i should hire this teenager full time for the summer. Maybe 30 hours a week. I already got a hold harmless signed by he and both his parents, so
I'm covered for most worries, except the cost. But since my primary fireman helper is so busy mowing lawns, he doesn't seem to have much time anymore.
So I've been doing it all. And all is a lot.
So maybe the handwriting is on the wall. If I want to stay here, I have to have more help. So far the teenagers have been almost useless but this new boy may break
the mold. He just got his license, has a nice new to him jacked up 4x4 (boy are kids spoiled today...sigh) and apparently is well motivated to earn money.
Maybe six hours a day; pretty hard to expect a teenager to work all day in 90 degree heat. They don't know how to pace themselves and from personal observation they are like the horses in the race that start out too fast.

This boy has worked along with his father for two summers mowing the local Hess station sites so I know he knows how to work. But if they went from site to site he got a lot of seat time in the truck. Not here, and unless one has grown up on a working farm, not sure many kids have the necessary experience to tolerate a full hot day. So I'm thinking five or six hours a day. So many projects here not a problem to keep him busy.
I just can't keep gripping that wheel for five hours a day. My right arm is on strike and yeah management hasn't been listening to the workers very well.
He'll be here Tuesday morning so need to have a plan by then. This is only until mid August anyway when he goes back to school. Then hopefully he will want to work here on weekends.

alright rain stopped, off to get greasy.
ok, back to regular programming.

Wow! I don't know what happened since last night's forecast, but at 10:AM it's 61° and light rain, been raining all morning and getting cooler. This is July 3, right? That's OK, mid 90's by mid week, I'll be wishing for this. Now where'd I put the sweatshirt in May?

Good Morning! 70F @ 7:30 AM. Abundant sunshine. High 96F. Winds S at 10 to 15 mph.

Cramps are no fun whenever they happen, Drew, let alone in the middle of the night. By now you know all the dos and don'ts for cramps, but if you're like me, being the world's worst patient, you just don't follow the advise? :confused3: What if you start your helper off easy with just a week of mornings, with the promise of full days if he accomplishes the allocated tasks? That'll give you a chance to see if he can show up on time, stay on track, and work unattended, and have an afternoon to plan the next day's activities. And after a week you should both know how much work is left, and what that work entails, and can make a go/nogo decision...

Wng, I need to get back at the poison oak sprigs and the rest of the weeds, too. Now that all the grass has turned brown, it really stands out and is easy to see. But much of it is in the easement along the driveway, and the neighbor always yells at me when I spray, claiming I'm jeopardizing his "farm's" organic status. As far as I know, the only thing he's growing is dope, which is, I suppose, a fitting crop for someone of his temperament.

Well I've no Skags to work on (where did they come up with that name, anyhow?) but after a few hours of sanding on the van I'm not looking forward to more. The engine bay is done, and most of the back third except for the floor, and it's dirty, hot, and strenuous work holding the angle grinder overhead and using small brushes to get into cracks and crevices. I think this is one of those tasks best taken in small doses, but I find myself inventing reasons to do other things first.

Part of the problem is it's just so darn hot working in the sun. I've been thinking about buying a 10'x10' popup tent; anybody have a recommendation for a good brand?

In addition to liquidating Mom's boyfriend's gun collection, I need to do the same for his coin collection. It's mostly commemorative silver/gold sets from previous Olympic games, with only a few old coins, and other than ebay, I've no idea where to start. Any ideas on that?

This weekend is one of the most popular to rent a houseboat and take it out on the lake. Most folks have enough sense to head south from the marina to the main body of water, but a few come up this way. The canyon doesn't extend very far, it's narrow, and the shores are steep, so is it any wonder that on this second day of the weekend I see one headed back south first thing in the morning?

69F and somewhat cloudy @ 11:30 ... high today of 77F. Can see rain on the radar in the southern part of Ohio. Calling for rain here tomorrow which is needed.

Started doing a little clean up on the 'bota night before last, using 3M rubbing compound to remove the oxidized paint. It's cleaning up pretty well ... but there's still a lot more work to do. Got side panels back on, cleaned radiator and screen, and changed the air filter.

Found a massive amount of slack in the front axle pivot when I checked it yesterday. Probably took 10 full rotations of the bolt to take up all the slack. Hopefully that will solve the leak problem on the pivot ... if not I have the o-rings on order. Also lubed up the cord/plug connections for the block heater with some di-electric grease and got the cord permanently tied down with zip ties.

Put the MMM on and will be doing mowing today.

Went over to some TBN friends yesterday evening and cooked some shrimp skewers with curry seasoning we brought and then headed over to local ice cream stand for desert. Got the full tour of their chicken house and a primer on keeping chickens. Had an enjoyable time.

Enjoy the holiday weekend.

Watch out I got tricked at Academy. They list a 10x10 pop-up tent but that is the measurement of the base legs which flare out a total of two feet. The actually tent covering is only 8x8.

Good morning all. 63 here this morning, going to 82, with no chance of rain. Had a great day yesterday. Cracker Barrel for breakfast, Golden Corral for lunch. Went shopping a little and ran some errands. Ended the day with a trip to the library and got two arms full of books. Got home and the wife and babysitter went swimming for a good while as I took a turn babysitting. It has been hot and humid here, hope it breaks soon.

Farmer Prayers sent for your wife and son and you too.

Larro, Be careful telling folks about your treasure. You will have the whole Good Morning crew down there digging. Ed

Hmmm... I have some treasure buried I think outside my yard. Right where I was thinking of putting a garden. What time do y'all get here.
Hey, it worked for Tom Sawyer!

Good afternoon all. 80F this morning windy and overcast (with a few breaks). Forecast for 96F because of the overcast. Cars all over the place here, boat traffic piclicking up, must be a holiday weekend  ;). Will put mooring lines life jacket check running lights, and then nap :cool2: Will watch tonight's fireworks from from the lake. Tomorrow the celebration continues.
Happy July 4 everyone! :drink:

Good Afternoon, another hot day. Both Whipper and I were traumatized yesterday when 15 city relatives with a few of their friends invaded us with motorcycles, rockets and way too much activity and noise.

At the end of the day, when everyone left, Whipper was missing!

I searched till dark all the trails with the utility vehicle, she loves to run with the utility vehicle, but no whipper. I figured she was not on the property or a timber rattler got her, or maybe she ran into a pack of coyotes.

After Dark I expanded my search and started driving the country roads in my pickup. My rechargeable flash light was already dead and she always runs into fields from vehicles so I had little hope of finding her but I had to do something because I did not have a chance to say goodbye to her.

After about 30 minutes and a mile away from home I thought I I saw a black dog cross the road running into the brush. I stopped the truck and called her but nothing.
I called my wife to bring her vehicle and drive slowly behind me about 50 yards (for light, my iPhone was not quite bright enough) while I called her and walk in the direction of home. I figured If she heard my voice she would follow along in the brush. After about a half mile she passed my wife's car and came to me to be petted and took the lead home. I think she thought I was lost.

Everything is finally back to normal but Whipper and I are still exhausted. She never leaves the yard much less the property unless she is with us, so this really surprised and exhausted us.

(Ron, she was found on the other side of the low water crossing.)

am going to have a lot of gasket scraping to do tomorrow but got the tiller chain case off and everything looked just fine in there. Not much wear on the sprockets at all and just a fine layer of rust on some areas; easily cleaned off.

I had my chainsaw worked on the other day. They replace the carb, which fixed the original problem ( saw would not run in some angles). But the idle is now so high, the chain does not stop running, have to use the chain brake. I took some covers off to slow the idle down, but there is no idle speed adjustment :confused2: :thumbdown:. Anyone else seen this? Stihl chainsaw.

Kripes in a crutch, Drew. Those pictures are so big they won't even fit on a 27" screen. Ever thought of cuttin' 'em down to size before posting?

Well, the scag bogs down under load. New plugs, filters etc so guessing it must be missing, possibly bad ignition coil.
Got the company mowing with the craftsman mowers while I use my flail.

Had to take a rain break, sun back out so back to work.

OK. It seems to create issues for Don and others. I'll try to reduce them to 2meg from now on.
Wish I could figure out how to permanently set the camera to not take pictures larger than X. I've been through the menus
but it seems to have a mind of its own. So a second reduction process is needed and that's cumbersome.
but I'll do it. I thought at one time TBN automatically reduced the pics to about a meg but clearly that is not happening anymore and my
five meggers are happily processed. Mea culpa.

well now that my pics have overwhelmed you RNG, did you see anything on the gears or chain that needed attention besides cleaning?

btw, the pics work fine on my 27 . I've always wanted to buy a cheap 42 for monitor use and put it on the wall in front of me, clear off my desk a bit. But this four year old monitor is doing fine. So big pics don't look big here, just tons of detail. too much detail...
